Terrible. Took forever to reply to me about my status. Got late fees for this reason. Money grab. Go in person and wait in line. Much better. I had to pay $900 in total for a Sudan.

Although we cannot give specific details in this public response, there are situations which require customers to fulfill certain DMV requirements, which if not done in a timely manner may delay receipt of renewed registration. With regards to Title Transfer services, it is true that NeedTags charges service fees for expedited DMV title transfers with concierge level first class support. The cost of the actual transfer itself, i.e. DMV registration fees, are finalized/collected only after your paperwork is received by our office. These fees are disclosed and explained in detail prior to checkout, along side a full explanation of the process. Title transfers can be tedious, and it's best to have a trusted DMV registration service provider on your side.

had a terrible experience with NeedTags.com. They charge a $50 fee just to process your tags, and the service felt shady from the start. I used this site thinking it was the official DMV—it looks very similar—but it is not. Always check for .gov before paying anything.
My car needed a smog test, and the DMV allows you to pay registration on time and complete the smog within a month with no late fees. I assumed NeedTags would send my payment to the DMV immediately. Instead, they held onto my money for three weeks until the smog was done, and because of that delay, my registration became late.
When I called, they said I now owed an extra $100 in late fees to get my tags. I demanded a refund and paid the DMV directly—still $120 cheaper than what NeedTags was trying to charge me. Their delay caused me to owe an extra $100 even with the DMV.
In my experience, this site is basically a scam. Beware.

The NeedTags' website displays to all customers, before they are asked for any payment information, all fees due, including DMV fees, our service fees, and a detailed explanation of the processes required for order completion. It is impossible to bypass these requirements. Although we cannot give specific details in this public response, there are situations which require customers to fulfill certain DMV requirements, which if not done in a timely manner may delay receipt of renewed registration. The customer in this case was issued a full refund after cancellation. They delayed getting their smog inspection for 30 days after they placed their order. The customer was given detailed instructions from us when they placed their order. Please contact our customer care department if we can be of any further assistance.

In my first instance involving another vehicle, I missed signing all the required signatures in the title. The representative assisted me and was extremely helpful in resolving the issue. I recieved all my documents by email and snail mail timely.
Learning from my earlier time, no hiccups this time around. It was quick and easy.
Definitely beats having to go to DMV.
