Shovkat guided my wife and I over…
Shovkat guided my wife and I over Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. He did a fine job, We were interested both in the recent history as a Soviet republic as well as earlier history. He was very knowledgeable and communicated well about this as well as about our primary focus: the monuments—mosques, madrassahs, and mausoleums. His English language skills are fine and he is very responsive to questions. My wife needed extra help at the end of the trip due to an illness and he provided essential help getting us cleared for flights. He drives his own vehicle and has a circle of guides helpful for areas that he is less familiar with. The choices for hotels/guest houses/restaurants were uniformly fine: Not too expensive but comfortable and appropriate.
