Very disappointing service and poor service - still no sofa bed

Very disappointing service and poor communication

I purchased a sofa bed over the April Bank Holiday weekend after being assured by a customer service representative that delivery would be no more than 14 weeks. I relied on that information when deciding to place my order.

Since then, I’ve had to repeatedly chase NCF Living for updates because communication has been poor throughout. Rather than keeping me informed, I’ve been left to do the chasing myself.

I have now been told that my sofa bed won’t be available until August, meaning the delivery time has stretched to around 16 weeks or more. This is especially disappointing considering it’s one of their most basic sofa beds.

What has frustrated me most is that I was given inaccurate information when I made the purchase. Had I been told the true delivery timescale, I would have looked elsewhere. To make matters worse, despite the delay and inconvenience, I’ve received no apology, no explanation that justifies the inaccurate information, and no offer of compensation or goodwill gesture.

Delays can happen, but honesty, communication and customer service are what make the difference. Unfortunately, my experience with NCF Living has been extremely disappointing from start to finish, and I would think carefully before ordering from them.

Appalling Experience

One Star is probably too high for what can only be described as one of the worst experiences I've had with any purchase, not a dig at staff at Gateshead store but the quality of product, service level and dismissive service is enough for me to let everyone know to avoid NCF completely.

All one order delivered on the same day by their third party installation team who were either rude, or one in particular non English speaking as he simply ignored me and stared at me even when I offered a drink

4 Seater sofa, delivered with cheap plastic feet on the front which wasn't as advertised or seen in store, only realised after the install/assembly. Complained same day 30th May (they give you 3 days to raise issues), after being told the installers probably put the actual wooden feet on the back, I had to provide evidence that they were also plastic on the back, feet were sent out about two weeks ago.

Dining Table, arrived with a damaged box, took an image and had to head out, upon my return, I was told my wife was given a piece of paper to sign, no explanation and off they went.

The table top had a scratch on, I was offered £25 compensation to keep the table.

One of the chairs was so badly warped it rocked on the floor, I was told my floor was probably uneven and to adjust the feet, the floor wasnt uneven the chair was warped, the adjustable feet rattle like hell and on full extension the chair still wobbled, I had to send a video as they didn't believe me, the fact that the other chairs sat fine in the same spot tells me the floors flat, it's also a recent install and fully screeded.

06/07 - Install team from same company arrived with a replacement table top, they also arrived with a set of legs for the chair. We offered them the sofa legs and they refused to fit them, saying I would need to fit them myself, sorry but not a chance.

Over the course of two months, I have dealt with various people, Stacy who is nice enough but answers to others and not a decision maker, at one point I was ready to send the whole order back.

So as it stands, I'm left with a 2 seater sofa which arrived and was actually fine, the 4 seater is now warping in the middle due to having plastic feet, the table is now as it should be.

Honest, if you are reading this and thinking I'm being over the top, remember it's almost £4k of money and for them to offer £25 to keep a scratched table, ask me to fit the legs myself and a final compensation offer of £45 after finally replacing the table top and chairs - it's a matter of principle and being in a customer facing role, I would be embarrased and ashamed on how this has been handled, and as for the quality, I'll be honest, it's too early but right now it's not promising that the sofas will stay in shape for long.

It's sad that the showrroms and the pleasant staff are supported so unprofessionally by the business, NCF quite frankly disgust me in their service and customer satisfaction.

I will be sending an official complaint regardless of any reviews I leave, maybe I could revise the 1 star review i'm leaving but I really doubt this, damaged on delivery, delivered not as advertised, appaling customer service.

Go elsewhere, trust me, I'm not a complainer but I'll make sure everyone I know avoids NCF. Will also forward this to relevant media and ombudsman and ask them to look at other TrustPilot reviews with a hope to get this outfit looked at in detail, perhaps a social media page should be created with all us disgruntled customers pooling our resources. EDIT: I now see there's already two social media groups of disgruntled customers with almost 2000 members, that should support the above review...

Avoid at all costs!!!!

Please take time to type in this company on fb, google and X! You will quickly find why we have been scammed and why you should avoid at all costs!!! There is an actual page with over 1.6k members all detailing how badly this company is and how they should be avoided! Please do not review before you have even left the store as you will only find yourself to be mega disappointed!!!
