50 mph restriction on the M1, northbound around Nottingham. At 11pm on Saturday night. No roadworks, no crashes, no closed lanes, no issues. Absolutely useless.

I had a flat tyre on the M1 by Newport Pagnell Services and two officers (7866 & 8879) were extremely helpful in getting me back on the road. They arrived within minutes of me pulling up in the SOS spot and even checked in with me via phone later on. Before getting back on the road I had problems starting my car and they were happy to come back to me again and instruct me on what to do. They were extremely supportive and professional in everything they did, and although it was extremely stressful for me, they helped me feel less anxious.

Not sure if I am on the right forum but just wanted to say that the A303 ILMINSTER BYPASS is a deathtrap. Oncoming traffic at 70mph only separated by a white line.
This is criminal road planning and I note three people lost their lives earlier this year when their car drifted into oncoming traffic.
At the very least there should be a 40mph speed limit and a safety barrier separating the east and westbound traffic.
I am incredulous at how this road design could be acceptable to anyone, let alone highway planners.

I had a flat tyre on the motorway slip road and was in quite a panicked and overwhelmed state. Andrew and Keith from National Highways were absolute lifesavers. They arrived quickly, calmed me down, and made me feel safe and reassured throughout the whole experience.

They stayed with me until the tyre company arrived and even had to close a lane to make sure everything was safe. They were so kind, calm, and professional — genuinely went above and beyond. I honestly don’t know what I would’ve done without them.

Particular thanks to the Officer 9932 ( I hope I have got the number correct )you helped us unload & reload the horses on the M42 north bound last night at approx 2030 , so you know who you are .Helpful , reassuring & professional, which made a potentially stressful situation as safe & easy as possible . Great customer service from recovery team Harry & Paul had an incident on M1 on 26/07/2025 (1721) very professional solved the the problem i had with my car within minutes was able to continue my journey without further issues great job lads keep up the good work.

Yesterday, when travelling northwards on the M42 we suddenly found ourselves on the motorway marked M6Toll. There was no evident prior information warning you that you were going to enter a toll road and no information about alternative routes. Then when we got off we were charged the outrageous amount of £8.40.

The signage is completely inadequate. National Highways are responsible for the design of the motorway. If you compare the Dartford tunnel toll it is much better. If you go to other European countries the toll road is clearly indicated and you have the CLEAR opportunity to get off. This is not the case with M6Toll.

This mob is the biggest cause of congestion and delays, and accidents....they HATE to see traffic flowing, so they put a stop to it....and the traffic wombles, they slow traffic down,for no apparent reason,put their stupid lights on when, the road ahead is
clear....this country is an absolute joke and an embarrassment!!!!

This country’s road enforcement system is a disgrace. I recently received a £100 fine for momentarily going 35mph in a 30 zone — a tiny lapse, no danger, no risk. Yet a few weeks ago, while driving on the M25 around 10pm, I was overtaken by what must have been 20–30 cars doing at least 120mph, weaving in and out of lanes like a scene from a Fast & Furious film. It was terrifying — I genuinely feared I’d be hit.

So where were the police then?
Nowhere to be seen. No patrols, no enforcement, no follow-up. But when an ordinary, law-abiding citizen makes a brief human error — boom, you’re slapped with a fine in the post like a criminal.

This is not about safety — it’s about automated cash collection. The authorities have become obsessed with punishing easy targets (like people going 5mph over) while turning a blind eye to actual road criminals putting lives in danger at extreme speeds.

There’s no balance, no common sense, and no accountability in this system anymore. It is morally bankrupt, and the public has had enough.

Got stuck after a bad day coming home from a late shift and Mark, kept me calm and helped navigate the situation. He was extremely helpful, supportive and very funny. He had a very positive ’silver lining’ outlook, which resulted in the time for recovery passing fast. Mark was and is incredible! An absolute superstar. 13/07/2025 between Plymouth and Westlake.

I sent a letter to Mr Nick Harris - the CEO of National Highways.
2 weeks later I am still awaiting a reply and have written again requesting one.
I'll see how long it takes for a response this time.
Otherwise i'll escalate my letter to whoever happens to be his 'boss'.

Simply amazing, I am so grateful for the wonderful message signs on the network. On a recent journey, if it wasn’t for the warning message I would have been completely unaware of the translucent pedestrians in the road and its highly unlikely that I would have been unable to navigate through the debris littering the road. Once I read the message it was as if it wasn’t there. I also pay special tribute to the variable speed limits. 40 to 50 to 40 in .2 miles really made a boring journey more fulfilling and keeps me on my toes. You guys ! As I have grown older I have welcomed the advice to slow down as congestion is ahead. I have lost count of the times i have smashed into the back of a queue of traffic due to no advanced warning. Keep up the good work you are just brilliant

Tuesday 20th May - A3 North junction to M25 closed.
1x Diversion sign.... back South A3 to M25 also closed???
Signage is non - existent and beyond a joke. Ended up going via London A3 to find the M3 to join the M25, then the long way round the M25 to almost miss a flight from Stansted - While enduring their "Speed Test" at 50mph.
The shameless clowns running the UK roads are morons as known as the National Highways are not fit for purpose.
Expecting several speeding Fines, for incomprehensible signage.
I might get a rubber boat to the EU – the roads there are fantastic 😊

Kept hostage a region of Dorchester, Weymouth, Portland by setting a roadworks light on ridge way, but no actual work was done.

When is this NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE dept going to be dismantled and run by people who know what they're doing. Regularly travel from southampton to emsworth. Speed cameras DO NOT WORK at peak flow times, instead flash randomly on drivers who are not travelling in a stream of traffic. Totally confused with 'temporary' speed limts. Why, when a so called incident is literally EIGHT junctions away, do they stop the bloody traffic miles away causing tailbacks.? Why are there so many accidents on the M27? What are nh doing that makes this motorway SO dangerous and why aren't they held accountable?

Seen a video online today where national highways wouldn’t comply with procedure to ensure safety of public refused a red x. I cannot believe the way the supervisor has spoken.

Even 1 star is too much.the biggest financial scam in the uk is in this group.Either they are partners or they don't really have anyone to manage.just in the third world countries you can see 4 times road work at the same point in a .05 road during 8-9 month.(High barnet road) or have major repair im M1,A1 and M25 obviously The main thoroughfares of London

Love to use the highway going 5 miles away for simple things as dog walk and spend 2 hours in traffic because someone got flat tyre or battery and the highway enforcement team decided to close all the 5 lines and put in standing 50000 cars because of that.Safety you talking,what about what this cause to the people mental health or even further..
