Thanks to the guide Thomas who took us safely up and down the glacier Myrdalsjøkull. An exceptionally tour with good explanation and patience. Totally cool experience 😎

Took part in an Only the Brave trip and had an incredible experience - clear communication from them when booking, helpful team upon arriving at base camp, and our guide Matteo took time to make sure everyone felt safe and prepared.

Meine negative Bewertung richtet sich ausschließlich an das Hauptbüro der Icelandic Mountain Guides in Reykjavik. Die halbtägige Gletscherwanderung von Skaftafell mit unserem Guide Michal war wirklich großartig.
Leider sind auf der Tour persönliche Gegenstände von mir verloren gegangen. Der Verlust war dabei nicht selbstverschuldet. Ich habe vor der Tour gefragt, ob ich persönliche Gegenstände im Bus lassen kann, was mir bestätigt wurde. Ich bin davon ausgegangen, dass der Bus am gleichen Standort bleibt, verschlossen wird und meine Gegenstände somit sicher verwahrt sind. Leider wurde der Bus jedoch mehrfach gewechselt und für andere Touren eingesetzt. Bei meiner Rückkehr waren meine persönlichen Gegenstände nicht mehr auffindbar und wurden auch nicht abgegeben. Ein anderer Teilnehmer muss meine Sachen somit mutwillig mitgenommen haben. Die Guides vor Ort haben sehr nett reagiert und mir eine Erstattung zugesichert. Das Hauptbüro in Reykjavik sollte sich bei mir melden, um das weitere Vorgehen zu besprechen. Als ich jedoch mehrere Tage lang keine Nachricht erhalten habe, habe ich das Hauptbüro selber kontaktiert. Das Hauptbüro hat sehr unfreundlich reagiert und war nicht entgegenkommend. Ich sei für meine Sachen selbst verantwortlich und sie kommen für keinen Verlust auf, war die harsche Antwort. Es gab keinerlei Kulanz von ihrer Seite und irgendwann wurde mir auch einfach nicht mehr geantwortet. Sehr schade, hier hätte ich einen freundlicheren Umgang mit den Kunden erwartet.

This company truly seems to care about its customers, and I would highly recommend booking a hike with them. Last week I was supposed to go on the Fimmvörðuháls hike. Unfortunately due to unexpected cirumstances, I was only able to hike for 1 day. I contacted the company and they were very customer friendly and found a good solution for me. When I get back to Iceland, I'll definitely book another hike with this company!

We had an absolutely incredible glacier tour at Vatnajökull!! They offer you special boots and special clothes if you need. Our guide was professional and funny and could answer all our tricky questions before, during and after tour. Everything was at high level and just in time. Someone might to reckon that cost is a little bit high, but believe me, it's worth it!

We took the “Walk on the ice-side” on 27.11.2019.
We had a mindblowing whale of a Day!!!
The weather was perfect and our guide, Antoine, was the best. We saw the Black shore, as well as waterfalls, but most important, we explodered the glacier.
Antoine took us on the glacier, but also safely let us explore some of the cracks of the Ice.
Thank you Antoine for a day to remember!!

Meine Schwester und ich (beide 20 Jahre alt) haben die dreistündige Gletscher-Wanderung (ab Skaftafell) gemacht und waren damit sehr zufrieden!

Wir hatten die letzte Tour des Tages gebucht (16:30 Uhr), mussten dadurch etwas weniger bezahlen und hatten das Glück eine sehr kleine Gruppe von nur 4 Personen plus Guide zu sein!

Unser Guide Hanka hätte nicht besser sein können!
Sie hat uns alle Sicherheitsmaßnahmen geduldig erklärt, sich über Fragen gefreut, gerne für Fotos gestoppt und vieles Interessantes über Island und den Gletscher erzählt.
Die Wanderung war ein für uns einmaliges Erlebnis, das wir auf jeden Fall nur weiterempfehlen können! :)

Excellent day from start to finish! Our guide Hendrich was a fountain of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm, fun and friendly - made a full day fly by in a flash yet packed so much in and got to spend quality time at each adventure experience/place. Highly recommended Iceland mountain guides for maximising time in this most beautiful country! 👍

Review for 10 day Landmannalaugar Skógar Trek:
Pros: Website is easy to navigate and easy to book. Able to communicate with agents via email. Food was adequate.

Cons: Was charged twice for trip due to glitch in computer system. Was not informed of impending 7 day snow/rain/wind severe storm conditions until 10 minutes before trek began. Was not counseled the day before to pick up extra gear or make sure participants were well equipped for severe storm conditions. Equipment list had many things that were "recommended" or optional, but really should have been "required". No equipment check prior to trek by guide. IMG should have info guide include about chance of severe storms in summer time and what to expect/bring if that happens. Guide seemed inexperienced and ill-equipped for conditions we faced (ie emergency radio did not work, extra equipment). More than half the participants had to stop after 3 days of trekking due to bad weather and insufficient equipment to keep warm and dry. I am unsure of how many people completed the whole trek, likely none. Emergency services were called on first day of trek due to white out conditions. Unsure as to how IMG thought these conditions were safe to guide 10 people with a single guide who has minimal experience with how prepared their participants are. Guide also did little to raise spirits, discuss culture/food/landscape/geology of the region, discuss our concerns, give weather updates.

Upon calling IMG to discuss my concerns of unsafe travel and severe storm conditions, I was informed that severe weather did not warrant exchange or reimbursement of services. I could understand a couple days of bad weather, but 7 days of severe storms necessitating emergency services and more than half of the participants leaving for safety reasons is poor business practice. When I returned to Reykjavik, tour offices warned against going to the Landmannalaugar Skógar area as it was "unsafe". IMG denied exchange for a couple day trips in the unaffected areas.

My advice to anyone considering IMG trekking trips is to hope for good weather, bring more than you need for severe weather (think high sierras in the early spring), hope you get a better guide than we did, and don't be surprised if they aren't accommodating if things go wrong or putting your safety first.

Very easy hike. Nice experience. The guide was friendly and professionnal. Wonderful place. Parking easy.

You need a good ability of English conversation, but even if you do not understand English, you will enjoy the glacier hiking.

The guides kept us safe, but also amused and interested through facts about the glacier and anecdotes about the local history. Highly recommended!

Experience guide was assign to our team to lead us to the glacier walk. Shared with us the basic must-know safety & general knowledge for glacier walk.

It was raining the morning we had booked a day walk on the glacier. But it stopped soon after we arrived and we had a fabulous walk up the glacier, threading our way through the crevasses with the help of a friendly, competent and knowledgeable guide. Icelandic Mountain Guides gave us a really great excursion on the glacier arm. It was well-organized, professional but very fun and friendly, and seemed like an outfit that knew - and enjoyed - what they were doing. Our guide, Octavia, was absolutely brilliant. All-around great experience.

One of the best experience I had in Iceland.

It was our last minute decision to join a glacier walk on solhemajokull. our guide (sorry i forgot your name, she's a Polish girl) was very informative. We discussed the receding of the glacier in the past 20-30 years and many information about eruptions and eruption expectations. We did the 10am tour which we first thought it's too early, and because the noon tour was full. Actually we're glad we did the morning tour. I would regret if I missed this experience. I didn't want to leave the ice ;P
