For SaaS businesses considering a credit card feed provider where banking transaction reliability is critical, our experience with Moneyhub was deeply disappointing

I’m writing this in the interest of fairness and transparency, and more importantly, to help prevent other businesses like ours from facing similar issues when relying on Moneyhub’s credit card feed as part of their core infrastructure.

Our experience with Moneyhub started positively. We implemented the credit card feed early last year, and for the first couple of months, the connections functioned as expected. However, performance quickly deteriorated. Banking connections began to drop off, and reliability became inconsistent.

As a result, we lost prospective customers who specifically required a dependable credit card feed integration. In several cases, we were unable to onboard them because the required bank connections were not available or stable. This directly impacted our revenue and undermined the ROI of the partnership.

We raised these concerns multiple times, particularly given that we were paying close to £2,500 per month, including £500 allocated specifically for support. Unfortunately, the level of customer success support did not meet expectations. At one point, I received AI-generated responses that did not meaningfully address the issue, which felt impersonal and dismissive given the commercial impact on our business.

Ultimately, we made the decision to cancel our contract. There was no proactive outreach from Customer Success leadership, nor any attempt from the Director of Customer Success to understand what had gone wrong or explore remediation options. That absence of engagement was particularly disappointing.

For SaaS businesses considering a credit card feed provider where banking transaction reliability is critical, our experience with Moneyhub was deeply disappointing — both from a technical stability and customer service standpoint.

For global connections, we rely on third-party indirect aggregators. Because your requirements focused heavily on these international feeds, the service was subject to the limitations of those indirect pathways, which can lack the availability, support and stability of our direct connections.

Support: We take your comments about impersonal responses seriously. While we use AI to help streamline our initial outreach, it should never replace the human-led technical insight required for complex issues.

I have had a problem with connecting…

I have had a problem with connecting Fidelity which has been going on for months and now have similar issues with 2 other apps with only an automated response. Moneyhub is a great concept but only when it works which it currently isn’t for me!!

Woeful Customer Service

When Moneyhub works it is good, but it is prone to faults, errors and failures. At this stage you might expect some form of support from their customer service team, but the usual response is either to ignore the issue, tell you to fix it with solutions that do not work, or shrug and say there is nothing they can do. The can leave you waiting many days for a reply, and don't seem to consider that an issue. In short, they are neither supportive or helpful, and their dreadful service and low effectiveness leaves a very poor impression of Moneyhub as a product

Terrible customer service

I have used Moneyhub for over 2 years and it was fantastic- until it wasn’t. Basically it has lost connection with one of my credit cards but still says it’s connected. No transactions are coming through which makes the whole thing fairly useless. Customer service has been appalling - they keep telling me to repeat the same thing that doesn’t work and then telling me they’re working on it in the background. Now they’ve stopped replying altogether. Very reluctantly I’m going to have to ditch it as it’s now pointless.

Am still a paid customer, for now.

I had entered my mortgage payment as 'rent', today I downloaded my Experian credit report and was alarmed to find Moneyhub had shared this info!!!

I guess I didn't read the T&C's carefully enough.

If you have used/activated this feature by accident you can go to this area of the app and ask to "Stop reporting rent payments" for anything categorised as rent. All my financial data in one place.

I like Moneyhub because it gives me a comprehensive view of (most of) my banking/savings accounts. Plus, I have total confidence that my accounts are safe and not vulnerable to hackers etc., as Moneyhub doesn't support initiating actions like payments or direct debits.
However Moneyhub has always fallen a little short of my expectations as, with a little more development, it could allow me to gain greater insight into my data by means of reports, graphs and improved categorisation.

MoneyHub is not perfect but is the best I have found…

Firstly, MoneyHub is the best I have found in terms of connectivity between different investments, bank accounts, credit cards, house etc.

The User Interface could definitely be better at making your outgoings and incomings clearer, it could use an analytics dashboard type of approach that would be far more useful, but the information is at least there. Also it does not try to sell you stuff and have other gimmicks like some platforms.

Although it connects to more than other systems, the connectivity is the main reason I can’t give it 5 stars. This is mostly caused by the banks and other organisations, but MoneyHub could do better. The banks etc that use open banking work well, whereas many of the other connections often have problems. This can be because the other organisations are deliberately blocking the connection, or just that they have changed their systems and so MoneyHub has to update the connection their side.

This is extremely frustrating, but not really MoneyHubs fault. I still use it because it’s overall easier than manually copying stuff to a spreadsheet. But the open banking standard should really be imposed on all financial organisations. It’s our data and they force you to use their often terrible tools.

How come CS is so poor?

Problems due to no API being provided by financial institutions are frustrating, but understandable.

Continual complaints about poor customer service, stretching back months are more of a concern.

What’s going on Moneyhub? Please don’t say that you’re working on it. What you need now is transparency.

Hi there, whilst we've grown customers considerably in the last few years, we're still a relatively small company in an extremely competitive marketplace. We would have loved to expand our support team at the exact same rate of customer growth to maintain the speed of response, but we cannot cover the cost of that with our current subscription model and don't want to have to pass an increased cost onto our customers.

The challenges that have led to the demise of some other competitors also demonstrate it's not simply a case of putting up subscription pricing or reducing free trial periods. We do apologise for the delays experienced and would encourage you to privately share some information so we can look into individual concerns for you.

Moneyhub has its strengths but also…

Moneyhub has its strengths but also some noticeable weaknesses. Initially, connecting all accounts, including major banks, was seamless. However, the promised detailed analysis falls short, and some accounts, like Vanguard, require manual updates. Customer service is a significant drawback, with responses often delayed or non-existent. There have been issues with missing transactions, and syncing certain accounts can be problematic. While the six-month free trial is a nice touch, there's noticeable room for improvement to retain users in the long term.

Was great, but

Ive been using Moneyhub for a few months and my initial impression was very good.
However I agree with other reviewers whose recent experience has been poor.
One of my accounts has shown no transaction info since early in October, even when the connection is refreshed. Every time I log on, I need to refresh some connection or other, and recently these have frequently failed, meaning time spent and no up-to-date information - defeating the purpose of having the app.
Support does not reply when these issues are raised.
I intended to buy the subscription, but that is now unlikely.
UPDATE: following the response, below, from Moneyhub I've downgraded from 3 to 2 stars.

Moneyhub continues to push all providers to offer up a fully integrated ‘open banking’ API-based connection. These connections are secure, reliable and easy to troubleshoot when issues occur.

Unfortunately, the alternative way that providers offer is often prone to fail when they make changes on their end. That's when we have to work with our third-party connections team to work around said changes and restore the connection.

We continue to chase for updates, but ultimately and regrettably they work on things according to their own priorities and timescales. Any pressure you can place as a customer on these providers to embrace open finance will be an advantage too.

Moneyhub has some promising features…

Moneyhub has some promising features and initially impressed me with smooth account linking, allowing me to connect all my high street banks and Vanguard investments. The generous 6-month free trial is a plus, enabling users to get a feel for the app. However, it seems the service has been declining recently. There are issues with missing transactions, and customer service is lacking, often with delayed or no responses. It's disappointing as it once was a first-class app. Overall, Moneyhub has potential but needs significant improvements, especially in support and detailed analysis features.

Thanks for the review, we will do our best to address the issues you have raised. Often these are caused by the providers themselves as we can only display the data that is provided to us and we push for all providers also to adopt API-based connections to improve the experience (e.g. Vanguard).

I have been using Moneyhub for a while…

I have been using Moneyhub for a while and initially had a positive experience, seamlessly connecting my accounts. However, the app has struggled to deliver on its detailed analysis capabilities as I expected. The lack of timely customer support and frequent issues with account syncing are concerning, making it less appealing over time. Despite a generous free trial, the declining performance and service have me reconsidering its value. While it has potential, improvements are needed to make it a truly reliable financial tool.

Not worth it

Not worth it. The app has not moved on in years. Each connection takes about 10 minutes to work - who has that kind of time every time they open the app (most connections need refreshing every time you open it).

The whole thing is designed by committee, or a student - so many useless screens and options. To get anywhere in the app needs multiple taps. Pointless "notes" sections which block save buttons. Just useless...

I've been using this app for a couple…

I've been using this app for a couple of weeks and so far, no issues. I was able to connect to all my major high street banks ok along with online savings accounts.

I've also connected my Vanguard investment account too. This doesn't auto refresh like the other accounts do but reading the comments it's probably because Vanguard don't offer a proper banking API connector...

As others have said, I too was with Money Dashboard so missed having the ability to track all my accounts in one place.

The 6 month free trial is generous and let's me get a feel for the new app before deciding if it's worth purchasing.

Zero Customer Service

Initially impressed, all linking went surprisingly smoothly. All features look encouraging at first, although in the end not really delivering on the detailed analysis I was expecting. Clearly a lot of development needed, just too early stage. I was looking to integrate it in my business but I don't think it hits the spot yet, and worse still, their own web links don't work and their customer service is non existent - the silence is deafening.

Have had missing random transactions…

Have had missing random transactions after being with moneyhub for a couple years and cannot get any timely response from their emails I am thinking to move my subscription to another money app

We have identified an issue with Barclays & Barclaycard that could account for your missing transactions in the Moneyhub app. Still, due to the anonymous nature of this review, we can't check for sure without some further information.

If this does sound like your problem please rest assured this is no fault of Moneyhub and is an issue accepted by Barclays as their fault for not reporting certain transactions on recent connection updates. They are working to resolve this as soon as possible.

**To respond to the update, it is recent connection updates that have caused the removal of some transactions from earlier months as you describe.

Not recommended

I’ve been using Moneyhub for well over a year. Twelve months ago, I would have given it a five-star rating. I was delighted with it. I’m afraid, however, that it has gone seriously downhill. Customer support is dreadful.

I have been unable to sync with my most important account, Fidelity, for over a month. Reports to Customer Support either go unanswered or are met with a response along the lines of “We’re working on it.”

It is so disappointing that a first-class app has now deteriorated to the point where I have decided not to renew my subscription.

There are clearly serious problems within the management structure of Moneyhub. I wouldn’t advise anyone to subscribe to it. What a great pity.

Tickets to investigate your issues have been raised, however, we are still waiting on an update and a resolution from our third-party 'indirect / screen scraping' connection aggregators.

Hopefully one day (Moneyhub will continue to push for it) all providers will offer up a fully integrated ‘open banking’ API-based connection like you have for NatWest, Halifax and Barclays - These connections are secure, reliable and easy to troubleshoot when issues occur.

The problem with your currently affected Fidelity and Hargreaves connections is that they are indirect or screen-scraping connections, where the banking providers haven't embraced 'open banking' for these connections. As such we have to find an alternative way to allow our users to connect their banks to our app.

Unfortunately, the alternative way is often prone to fail when the providers make changes on their end. That's when we have to work with our third-party connections team to work around said changes and restore the connection.

We continue to chase for updates, but ultimately and regrettably they work on things according to their own priorities and timescales. Any pressure you can place as a customer on these providers to embrace open finance will be an advantage too.

Good, but with concerns.

Good points first. Any easy to use app/website. I've had a few dealings with support and found them courteous and helpful and quite acceptable response times.

Negative - the list of connections with issues seems to be growing.
I've been with them for nearly a year now (since MoneyDashboard disappeared) and from what I've seen once a problem gets on that 'current list' of know issues it stays there. Similarly the 'not supported' is growing and we're 'working on it' hasnt been updated since I joined. To me it implies there isn't much activity going on in the IT development side of the business - and I don't want to be caught like I was with MoneyDashboard.

So good app - but not sure I can bet my future on it.

Thanks for the good review. Regarding connections, we have the widest range available in the UK. Unfortunately, there are issues with some of the providers that don't provide full open finance connections. We sometimes take a connection type offline when the connectivity issues become too poor to meet our expectations of service quality.

We continue to lobby for further legislation to mandate the provision of open finance APIs so customers can access their data in apps like Moneyhub and will continue to do so, we aren't going anywhere - don't worry!

Held back by basic functionality

Like others, I switched to Moneyhub after Money Dashboard closed down. I thought this was the least gimmicky of the budget management apps out there, and I still think that. It has good connections with financial service providers, so the basic task of consolidating your finances is fulfilled. However, the analytics functionality is surprisingly rudimentary. For instance, you cannot de-select spending categories when analysing your spending patterns - this is important if you want to look at routine spending without lumpy categories (e.g. holidays, building projects etc). This is a pretty basic requirement. What is worse, when I raised it with support they didn't even understand the question, and gave me an answer about changing the names of categories. What a shame - this could be so much better.
