Paid for 2-Day Air. Took 8 Days. Microtech Placed the Hold and Lied About It.
I'm a combat veteran of the 75th Ranger Regiment with five deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. I own four Microtech knives and carried a SOCOM auto on every deployment. I am exactly the kind of customer Microtech's brand is built around.
Which is why what happened with my recent order is so disappointing.
I paid for 2-Day Air shipping. On day 4, the package was loaded onto a delivery vehicle and marked out for delivery, then inexplicably pulled back and held with no explanation. When I contacted customer service, two different representatives told me they had no control over the package and couldn't even contact UPS. It was clear neither ever attempted to do so. Their attitude was that once it left their facility, I was on my own.
To be clear — it does not appear that Microtech took a single action on my behalf at any point. No one checked the tracking. No one called UPS. No one investigated why a $502 order with expedited shipping hadn't arrived. Two different representatives simply deflected and waited for me to go away. Every piece of information I obtained, I obtained myself.
I called UPS myself. They told me the shipper — Microtech — had placed a hold on my package until June 16th. Nearly three weeks after my order date. The address on my order was correct from the moment I placed it — Microtech's own order confirmation proves that.
I was given false information twice and left to do the investigating myself. When I confronted Microtech in writing with what UPS told me, they didn't respond.
The package finally arrived on June 5th — 8 days after ordering, 6 days past the 2-Day Air commitment. Upon delivery I reduced my chargeback to $24.81, the shipping cost only, as the product was ultimately received. I also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. To date, Microtech has not reached out, apologized, or offered any resolution on their own.
The knives are exceptional. I can vouch for that from experience. But if something goes wrong with your order, Microtech will deflect, mislead you, and hope you give up.
