I needed to replace my cpu on an older computer that I have. The sales rep pretty much shamed me on having such an old system. He response was " we only sell new stuff here". Any way I found what I needed on face book market place. Will never go to any retail store for PC parts because you can find what you need most of the time on line. This is why Canadian retail is dieing.
Rough start with parts, but Management made it right
[UPDATE - Changed from 1 star to 4 stars]
Store Manager Ryan reached out to me directly after I filed a formal complaint about this transaction. He completely owned up to the mistake, admitted that the staff should have been transparent about supplying an aftermarket brand instead of an OEM part, and apologized for the oversight.
He immediately ordered a brand new, genuine OEM MSI (Chicony) adapter for me at no extra charge, which I have now received. While the initial experience with the parts department was frustrating and felt deceptive, the management's response was fast, professional, and exactly how customer service should be handled. I am satisfied with the final resolution, but I still advise customers to double-check the brand of the parts they receive at the counter.
[Original Review]
Bait and Switch: Charged for OEM MSI part, given a cheap aftermarket knockoff.
I ordered a replacement power adapter for my MSI Cyborg 15. The internal notes on my receipt clearly stated: "Sent an email to MSI to order the adapter." Based on this, I paid $94.49 expecting a genuine MSI/OEM part.
Instead, I was handed a cheap, third-party aftermarket brand called "DONGERDI" (which retails for around $30 online). MSI does not manufacture or supply DONGERDI adapters. I was charged a premium OEM price for a budget knockoff, under the false pretense that it was ordered directly from MSI. The aftermarket adapter ran extremely hot and had coil whine. Very disappointing initial experience with the parts department.
I'd avoid buying anything from them
I'd avoid buying anything from them. I tried to buy a laptop on Memory Express website today. It was saying a sale price online, by time I got to the check out the sale price had changed to basically nothing. I provided them a screen shot of the price.
When I spoke with the managers they creditted it to a website error and tried to give me $50 off instead, was almost insulting.
i bought a PC build from FB marketplace…
i bought a PC build from FB marketplace last April, 6 months later, the GPU, a rx 7700xt, went dead. The guy who built the PC had all new parts in it, so I had the receipts. I took the GPU back to memory express cuz, within the first year, they helped with sending the card to the manufacturer for warrantee, it took a while but after 3.5 mos i had pretty much given up, but they pulled through gave me a credit for the card, with that credit i was able to upgrade my crd to a 5070, and man THIS THING ROCKS!!! lol
Bought an msi gaming desktop for 1900
Bought an msi gaming desktop for 1900. Sales advised me unit was open box but was fully tested working and had warranties. Had graphic card issues right out of the box, tried to fix via driver updates etc to no avail. Carlos from Etobicoke advised me they would over night a direct replacement. Overnighted their defective unit back to them only to be dicked around by Carlos blaming inventory and saying units posted on their site were discontinued. The unit I was sold was clearly never tested. The system issues were apparent right out of the box. Then when given multiple chances to make it right I was further dicked around by their customer service manager. I provided two replacement options for resolution and all I was given was excuses and issues that were not my concern
If you decide to buy from this company do not Buy open box. And someone who spent a few years in PC sales the customer service experience was horrible for the amount of money that I was trying to drop on on a product to be ignored put on the back burner and then fed excuses is unacceptable. So I will be instead spending my money with their competitor.
Staff and stuffs are good but returning
Staff and stuffs are good, i know return policy is just 15 days but I didnt like it when i return the monitor that i bought cause they check every single corner, the screen and the guy whos checking it hes doing it like a weird scientist like his eyes 2-3 inches away in the monitor. I dont think they gonna accept it if they find a scratch that time. Anyway as long as you can buy in bestbuy just buy there no so picky in returning stuff.
annoying computer part
It's not good to deal with bad parts and costly help at the place of purchase, I fix computers and that's a key factor in repair is decent parts. Just to think my motherboard had to be replaced in the end after these guys sent it away, I didnt want a replacement part of one of the same faulty model that mistreated me for almost a year, my time is worth more then using a board of useless operation such as that one. I feel bad but I'm putting this 1 star because I feel like I deserved better in a motherboard then a refurbished MSI which I have up for sale now privately because I dont need wifi in a board even and it does like all the other boards around here. I dont need it in mine. I dont need a game board either which seems to be popular around here but thanks for the used board I am now selling myself or trying to.
Gaming PC horrible
I got a make a wish gaming computer and the computer sucks and it’s just $7000 gaming PC and it acts like a two dollar gaming PC and it keeps saying, please connect the Sata cord and I took it back to the store and they said they fix it and it was a lie. It’s still doing it and it takes forever to turn on now. I don’t know what you people did to it, but you clearly managed to break a make a wish gaming PC. I’ll never get a PC built by you guys again.
Memory Express are thiefs!
After taking our computer in to Memory express to be fixed they COULD NOT find the issue that all that was needed was a power supply. REALLY? after picking up a power supply on AMAZON they say was not available and discontinued they gave us back the computer with the hard drive removed. YES THEY STOLE OUR HARD DRIVE. I have since replaced tjhe power supply, but now have to purchase a NEW HARD DRIVE, because they removed the one we had.

I read reviews about this company and I shake my head. I deal with one at Edmonton south. Every time I've been there over the years, the staff, and I mean salespeople, technicians and the management have been outstanding. These people go above and beyond for customer satisfaction. Keep it up ME.

I paid a fedex delivery with signature, the package was "delivered" while no one home without any signature...
I contact the support cause fedex said the seller will get a refund to sent me back my package but its been 2 weeks and the support dont give any answer. Pretty nice customer service...
Madison at the Calgary SE was amazing!
Madison at the Calgary SE was amazing!
I recently purchased a 9950x3d + Astral 5090 custom build and she was on top of getting those components asap and letting me know how the build was going every step of the way.
She was as excited (if not more) than I was when the build was complete! Great service, great experience, couldn't ask for more.
happy and quick to take money in…
happy and quick to take money in exchange to provide substandard components that crap out in only a matter of months. the staff is friendly but are not forthright about the fact components will fail in no time.
MEMORY EXPRESS SCAM CUSTOMERS
I bought a Raspberry Pi 5 8 Gig with warranty. I put purchased a Raspberry Pi Display 2 and mounted it. Red light was on instantly. I brought it to the Memory Express in Burnaby BC. They went to replace it. Their staff came back with pliers and then they took my Pi to the back and didn’t return for approx 10min. They came back saying there’s capacitors missing. Then accused me of damaging the board. They said they’ll give me my $12 warranty back and won’t honour their warranty.
MEMORY Express are scamming customers and damaging our property to avoid warranty.
This is how low this company is resorting. To all customers, don’t let them take your device out of your view if dealing with warranty.
Scam artists. Buyer beware!
Take my money quickly on backorder…
Take my money quickly on backorder without having the card for 5 days on a website? This is not how business should run. It's either you got my card or cancel. Why wait for me to cancel my backorder? This is strange.
Burnaby store was very professional
I brought a motherboard from the Burnaby, BC store by mail order. Service was excellent, and the product was as described. Jen and Alex at the store were very responsive in answering my questions.
