I recently had a flat tire and arranged to have my vehicle towed to Mavis to replace all four tires. What should have been a routine service turned into a frustrating experience due to a combination of technical misunderstanding and poor communication.
Shortly after my car arrived, I received a call from the shop stating they could not proceed because all the lug nuts were “spinning” and could not be removed, allegedly due to over-torquing. I explained that one of the lug nuts requires a special key for removal, which is standard for vehicles equipped with locking lug nuts. However, the technician dismissed this explanation and insisted that was not the issue.
Because of the delay, I went to the shop in person. Upon inspection, I confirmed what I had explained earlier, that a locking lug nut was present. I then demonstrated how to properly use the key and remove it. This was concerning, as identifying and handling locking lug nuts should be basic knowledge for a tire service shop.
At the front desk, I encountered another issue. The person I believe was the shop manager insisted that Apple Pay was not accepted. I pointed out that their payment terminal supports contactless payments, and after demonstrating it, it became clear that Apple Pay was indeed accepted. This reflected either a lack of familiarity with their own system or poor customer handling.
The most concerning part was related to the wheel alignment. I was told that an alignment had already been completed and was charged for it. I questioned how an alignment could be performed before the new tires were installed, as proper procedure requires alignment after installation. I did not receive a clear explanation, which raised doubts about whether the service was done correctly or at all. Overall, this experience highlighted issues in technical competence, communication, and service integrity. A straightforward tire replacement became unnecessarily complicated, and it left me with concerns about the quality and reliability of the work performed. I hope this feedback is taken seriously to improve both technical training and customer service moving forward.

New in our area - they took us in with no appointment - the Mechanic ( I believe his name was Tony) - stopped what he was doing answered my questions and asked me to wait 30 minutes - 10 minutes later he was moving my car in. Work done as promised - Manager was actually a car guy - now a days its hard to find this type of informed eager service - Transit Road Depew.
Pitiful I been sitting at Mavis tires since 1:30 pm on Government st just to get a nail taking out my tire. Here it is 4:30 pm and they still haven’t touched my car . I made them give my keys back this is ridiculous. Please get new management in here .
