MALPRACTICE and TERRIBLE SERVICE BY MANAGEMENT

February 2024, I went to the shop as it appeared my muffler or exhaust (again car parts are not my specialty) had fallen off while driving. My car was towed to this location. I was told at first by Eddy that worked there at the time (I believe assistant manager) that I needed a new muffler. He then called me back stating that I also needed a resonator. He did NOT mention needing a catalytic converter which then was another call. Agreeing the resonator can be saved for the moment, I replaced the other two parts. These parts were purchased by YOUR Mavis location and installed. I am not one to inspect the work done to a car as one, my car was at this location for MANY days while they awaited a part. I spend a lot of money with this company between two cars. I have a Mavis credit card. This visit was 1200 USD.

Fast forward to May 2024, my car starts to make a loud sound when turning it on and when accelerating. I know I just replaced the muffler, but it sounded like the issue. This time I take the car to STS which is across the street at 416 US 46 in Dover NJ. I called and spoke with TERRELL. He stated that he was the assistant manager. I explained to him THOROUGHLY what was going on. I wanted to get the car looked at and get a diagnostic before going back to Mavis if the work that was done 3 MONTHS prior is having an issue. Terrell ensured me he was putting this information into the system that I was providing. I told him I was dropping the car off that night and asked if he needed my account information. He said no and they can look it up by the license plate. The next morning, I get a call from the store manager EDDY asking me why the car was there and what was going on, he saw nothing in the system. I THOROUGHLY TOLD TERREL WHAT THE ISSUES WERE. At this point this was time wasted as I am now having to stop work to repeat everything, I just provided the night before and Eddy confirmed there were no details put on my account.

EDDY then calls me back to say that the resonator needs to be replaced (THIS IS A PART I BROUGHT 3 YEARS PRIOR) HOW IS THIS PART ALREADY FAULTY FOR A CAR THAT DOESN’T DRIVE THAT MUCH AS I WORK HYBRID AND DO NOT DRIVE THIS CAR OUT OF STATE OR FAR FROM HOME.

Then EDDY proceeds to tell me that I also need BOTH front and back breaks as my breaks are completely GONE. And how he was so afraid while test driving my car. I knew this not to be true and told them do not work on the car I was coming to pick it up.

I am highly escalated and appalled at the way TERREL spoke to me not only as a WOMAN but as a customer! He was extremely sarcastic and rude. I have NEVER been talked this way especially by a place that I patronize! I spend MONEY with your company as this is the only company that services my car! HENCE WHY I HAVE THE MAVIS CARD!! I asked TERRELL why the information was not put in the system that I provided him as he rudely says he did NOT have to put it in the system because he wrote it down. I asked him where he wrote it. He proceeds to show me a notebook he thought he wrote it in, which he turned some pages before getting to a page where the information I provided was randomly written on a random page in the middle of this notebook. IS THIS THE SERVICE STS PROVIDES TO CUSTOMERS? IS THIS PROTOCOL WHEN TAKING INFORMATION FROM CUSTOMERS REGARDING MECHNICAL ISSUES THAT NEED TO BE LOOKED AT AND EVALUTED THEN FIXED?

I then leave this location and go across the street to the Dover NJ Mavis. I’m quite familiar with the store manager Lenny. He put the car up for me and took off a front AND back tire and advised that what EDDY said about the breaks were NOT true! He showed me the breaks (photos attached). EDDY TRIED TO CONVINCE ME TO GET WORK DONE ON A CAR THAT DID NOT NEED TO BE DONE AT THE MOMENT. THIS IS MAL PRACATICE, THIS IS LYING, THIS IS CONSUMER FRAUD! I will proceed with an attorney to investigate this matter.

I received a call a week ago from Shawn the regional manager and Rob the regional director. I am awaiting a follow up regarding the parts. Hoping to hear from them sooner than later regarding all of this! I HAVE LOST ALL FAITH IN MAVIS AND STS!
