The charger works perfectly. It actually runs off of the Sync Energy app, which means you can use it with Octopus. It’s been perfect.

My late father bought this Masterplug EV charger new in December 2025. Unfortunately, he had issues with it previously, and I’ve now experienced another fault after taking ownership.

On 30 July it suddenly went offline and stopped charging my car. I’ve factory reset it multiple times and tested both Wi-Fi and Ethernet, proving the charger is connected to my network and can communicate.

It briefly came back online after a reset and allowed me to add it to Octopus, but then went offline again.

I contacted Masterplug with detailed troubleshooting information and asked for the issue to be escalated to engineering. I have now been waiting a week for a response.

Very disappointing reliability and customer support. I just need a charger that reliably charges my car.

Reliable EV chargers and good support when needed

I wish there was a zero bit had to settle for a 1* review!

The EV charger has been consistently unreliable, it says there is no WiFi signal when my phone next to it has a full signal.

I will work OK for a couple of weeks then fail. It seems worse when not used for a couple of day then only a reboot (or several) will bring it back life.

It’s now not connecting at all and have noticed the old Monta app is no longer available so I’ve updated to the new Sync Energy app.

I don’t think the thing is fit for purpose and would definitely recommend anyone to look elsewhere for a reliable charger.

Bought type 2 wall charger, had electrician professionally fit. They couldn’t get it to connect, I can’t and nor can Masterplug support team over the phone, despite my calling multiple times. On 2nd call they advised they had ditched the original app and I now had to synch with a different app. So I re register, still doesn’t connect.
Promised a call back as too busy to talk with me. I wait in all next day for call, no call came. So I call them ten past 4, turns out they all go home early on Friday and office shut!!
Total waste of time.
I want my money back, how do we arrange please?

Terrible communication i bought an extension lead with a five year guarantee after two the switch broke,it is a sealed unit and though a bit dirty undamaged ,contacted sent original receippt pictures and a video of fault ,nothing after two weeks sent pleasant email nothing,the moral is dont believe the guarantee and Masterplug shouldn't offer it if they don't honor it

Bought a surge protector after our boiler was damaged by a surge. We are now fixing the same issue the surge protector done nothing to protect the boiler. I am outside the uk so cant even register it. Dont waste your money.

Terrible car charger the app isn’t great either won’t charge past 1.2kw

Don’t waste your money l purchased the EV charge and had it fitted as part of our new build,I’ve never been able to connect the charger to the internet even though I have Starlink which gives me 400 mb , you have to register it as a public charge .
All I wanted was to just plug my car in and charge and never been able to use it
Customer is all AI so no help at all

I am sorry I didn't checked reviews before buying this EV charger. I don't Know what to do with this charger? It can be operated only with App and always it goes offline and trying to re-connect is a big task. There is no support. Also it doesn't show up on Octopus app and every time my Octopus Go plan will be terminated. Its a nightmare
