Just another big fat cat faux charity filling its pockets out of peoples misery. They also killed off my mother with totally inappropriate use of fentanyl. She had slipped and hurt her side and was under control with normal painkillers. Though having Alzheimer's too she was easy to take advantage of. I was her next of kin and no medicines were to be changed or added without my knowledge. The care facility knew this but the macmillan nurse was a bully acting way above her station with a total disregard for protocol. Id left mum for 2 days and all was normal. I came back and she was lying flat on her back in a semi comatose state with hands raised upright shaking. She had pinprick pupils and it was quite clear good ole fentanyl, the global killer of the elderly, was doing its job. I was too late to save her. The NHS did a total cover up job as they do with many elderly people that are being culled just for being old. NEVER EVER trust anyone who is supposed to be looking after your relatives. Watch them like a hawk. Never be afraid to question them. fat cat charities are only interested in ONE THING and thats CASH and fat cat salaries. The CEO gets nearly £200k + big fat expenses- PS check their atrocious reviews elsewhere like TRUSTPILOT.

Jury still out, but not good so far. Call for help on pain management. Told call 111. The woman I spoke to was nice, but utterly useless truth be told.

I’m torn on this. When my husband was first diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, the hotline was amazing - so great for panicked calls or to talk through confusing next steps in the treatment plan. Also, the online community was a real resource to both my husband and I for interacting with others going through the cancer journey. I don’t know where else we could have turned for this kind of support, and in gratitude I have been a fundraiser. However I have since heard of and experienced more negative interactions- carers calling the hotline and being told they couldn’t help them, only the patient, and sometimes poor judgment in the moderator community. They are starting to feel more like a fundraising organisation than a caring organisation and I worry the experience is hit-or-miss depending on who you deal with.

Rang them in desperation as in constant pain after finishing cancer treatment and mentally depressed. Told to ring 111 !

I knew Dad had cancer as the MacMillan nurse gave me a busdiness card before the consultant even told us.
My Dad was terminal he died within 3 weeks of diagnosis. MacMillan nurses were coming on the Wednesday Dad died the day before I rang the number left a voicemail saying the above. Never got a call back asking if we needed any advice a courtesy call should be standard I feel they listened to the voicemail and thought great a cancellation. They definitely got the message because no one arrived and I’ve heard nothing.
Disgusted with the service I have always donated for the last 30 years not anymore.

Total lack of support.
My mum died recently after being diagnosed 7 months ago with terminal lung cancer.
She had zero input and I mean literally zero. They sat in on her appointments with the Consultant. They never rang her. They never visited. She lived alone and died in pain. I will never donate for macmillan nurses.

What an absolutely pointless organisation! Like so many others on here we've experienced their awful 'charitable' trust first hand! This is a company that rakes in money from fund raisers and charitable people and have no sympathy whatsoever for cancer patients that so dearly need help. My wife suffered both physically and mentally during her illness, not to mention financially with no help in any way from Macmillan. Another woman from work has now been diagnosed with cancer and asked for advise. I told her under any circumstances do not bother with Macmillan!
I used to donate to this charity every Christmas but never again will I give them a penny. This charity needs seriously reviewing by an appropriate watchdog as it leaves innocent people vulnerable while itself gets richer.

My family suffered the loss of my dad 11 years ago and McMillan were useless in our time of need. They blurted out in front of my young daughter that my dad had terminal cancer and they could not be contacted when we needed them. I will never support them. When I see their expensive tv advertising it brings it all back, I have to turn the channel over. The most awful experience of my life! They do not deserve any stars at all.

Awful experience with Macmillan. When my dad was dying of cancer they spouted some corporate rubbish and then left. I never, ever donate to this organisation - which feels like a scam organisation. Totally unprofessional and uncaring.

Had a call from mcmillian yesterday asking for donations and when I was asked why I care so much for it I said I recently lost my nan and my mum has cancer he tried to use this as a sales pitch on me to get more money. Just wrong and when I asked how much of the donations actually go to the people that need it was told the "charity" keep 70% not a charity but a complete scam

My sister was diagnosed at Kingston hospital with pancreatic cancer in January and was assigned a McMillan nurse called Elizabeth .
From the outset she was worse than useless and patronising.
I will never donate to this organisation .My sister passed and they helped us in no way!
As for Kingston hospital such a disgrace

Do not use avoid avoid a shower of incompetent fools that only call you and help when it suits them, a terrible experience we all would like to forget.

My late wife was assigned a MacMillan ‘nurse’ following her cancer diagnosis. We didn’t ask for her and I still wonder what she was for. Over a two year period she relayed two or three requests to my wife’s oncologist and that’s it I think. She appeared unannounced at my wife’s bedside toward the end and proceeded to inform us about her upcoming foreign holiday.
MacMillan advertise widely asking for money. I wonder what they do with it. Charities are not that charitable any more … but … Sue Ryder ARE worthy of support and helped us greatly. Don’t let your local NHS lumber you with a MacMillan (alleged) ‘nurse’. My opinion is shared by most reviewers hereabouts.

Not sure what Macmillan are for my wife was diagnosed withTNBC and met a nurse from there who told us she would be doing so much for her to date she has not kept one promise and blatantly lied about stuff now they have told her she will not get counseling as she has missed two sessions the first she never received the phone call and the second she was abroad getting potentially life saving treatment which was explained

Until August 2021 we had never thankfully had any interactions with Macmillan nurses, unfortunately that changed when on 3rd August 2021 my husband was advised cancer had spread. We had 2 visits to our home from a Macmillan nurse prior to my husband aged 51 passing away on 17th September 2021. I only wish I’d asked her to leave our home on the first visit & never return as she was the coldest person & not someone you would want interacting with your poorly husband. As a result of this nurse I cringe every time I see or hear an advert for Macmillan. As a family we will never give to this charity, as the nurse did nothing for my poorly husband except cause upset. I have also met another family who had the same nurse in 2020 they actually did request her leave their home due to her cold attitude & lack of empathy. What Macmillan does I will never know, but the charity needs to be reviewed as their nursing staff should not be in the profession. I’d give zero stars if it was an option!

This charity operates a community board on its website and seems to spend so much pointless time moderating posts badly. I don't know if it has any Macmillan Nurses answering queries anymore. At one point it had none.

Seriously I have absolutely no idea what MacMillan nurses do !!
They are atrocious, uncaring and as far as I’ve seen have little or no people skills, they have been totally absent throughout my mum’s battle with cancer.
I’m a nurse and quite honestly it makes me feel ashamed of my profession.

Just wish I could give a negative score. I approached Macmillan because my mother had terminal cancer and I was desperate to help her. She wanted to spend what little time she had at home but they didn't want to know. They just dismissed my concerns and request for any help they could provide without any sign of compassion or care. I will never donate to them again.

I don’t think Christchurch Macmillan deserve any stars what so ever!! They would not give my mother of 92 palliative care even tho, mum was terminally ill with
cancer and dying. Never, ever will I contribute a penny to this organisation or support them ever again.
They are the rudest, inconsiderate , patronising
incompetent compassionless bunch of nurses I have ever had the misfortune to meet. I’m so ,so glad that whilst we needed help with mum, we soon had to learn all things medical for ourselves. Through goggle! Macmillan would never have given my mum the care that she received from her daughters. My sister and I faced my mothers illness with no medical knowledge of bowel cancer. My sister and I did everything to support my 92 year old mum, to fulfil her wish to die in her own home , in peace. Surrounded by her daughters who loved and cared about her.
On reflection, God knows what would of happened to my mum had those Macmillan who visited, who came for a “ chat” had got their hands on my mother. They came across as cold and uncaring. They have traumatised my sister. The night we knew we were losing my mother, we rang the ward in Christchurch for help. We phoned as we wanted to know why my mum was pulling at the bedding , not being able to communicate to us, why she could not open her eyes , why her breathing had changed ?
The short curt answer we received “ give her oxynorm,
Mum died 2 hours later. Now my sister is full of guilt thinking , could she have done more when, she already gave round the clock care.We had no help from anyone.
Now mum has gone . We have wiped are hands from all things Macmillan. Why should we support a charity who showed to interest in my mum. At a time when she needed help. I remember in particular , a visit from a nurse who said, “ What do you want from us?” They’re an absolute waste of time. A vet would give better care to cats and dogs! Anyone thinking of putting a family member in to pallative care here. Don’t! They are all talk and will do nothing to ease your your mind or help your loved one.
I had my will prepared some years ago. In it is a considerate monetary donation for Macmillan . Well, that will be stopped now. I would never give a penny to this charity. Never would I support a charity who let my mother down at a time when she needed them. I will make sure everyone hears about our experience too.
Shame on you Macmillan , shame on you.
