Absolute Perfection – Worth Every Single Mile!I travel a very long way to visit the Lucinda Ellery studio in Southampton✈️, and I can honestly say it is worth every single mile. The results are life-changing, but what truly makes this location spectacular is the management team.The managers, Paolo and Sylwia, are absolutely incredible. 🥰They go completely above and beyond to make sure every visit is perfect, comfortable, and welcoming. When I first had my system put on a…
When I first had my system put on a year ago I could not praise the process enough, after suffering with thinning hair for many years the whole experience of having hair was wonderful, the staff at Southampton couldn’t have made me feel more welcome and at ease. The negative sides to the system are, it is expensive, time consuming having to attend appointments every 6 weeks, which are also costly, the pain when having the system realined can not be ignored, I have often taken pain killers after the appointment, the system moves as the hair grows underneath. The biggest downfall is the huge amount of damage to your own hair, I was assured during my initial consultation this would not happen, I am left with very very fine hair, different lengths because of the hair breaking, in very poor condition, really disappointing outcome. The system is not a short term solution it is a long term expensive commitment

Lucinda Ellery Intralace System
I have been using real hair intralace systems since 2018 for my alopecia in the Southampton salon. The systems are bespoke and personal to everyone. The staff are excellent in their ability to create a hair system that looks natural and durable. They are very professional and friendly and listen to any questions I may have. Although the systems are expensive and need regular maintenance I would recommend them compared to unnatural synthetic wigs

I genuinely didn’t think it would turn out this good — I feel like a completely different person. From the moment I walked in, I was made to feel so welcome. I was really anxious, but they kept me calm throughout, constantly checking in, offering drinks and snacks, and just being so kind and reassuring.
I had a mesh integration, and the result is better than I could ever have imagined. Such a lovely, caring team.

Life changing moment !…
I have been a client at Lucinda Ellery since 2018 when I had my first Intralace system. I can definitely say this changed my life - (such a cliche but no other way of saying it !) Since then I have had regular visits to the Edinburgh studio . The staff are amazing and all really efficient at what they do . The atmosphere in the studio is relaxed and pleasant , music and good chat ,tea and coffee .
This is the place for hair loss solutions - the staff are patient with explaining and advising how things would best be done and what would suit each individual client . It has become a part of my life and I have no regrets about choosing Lucinda Ellery 😊

I have been coming to the Edinburgh studio for 11 years now and have found them to be absolutely brilliant. I am always made to feel welcome by the most fantastically friendly staff. Obviously staff have changed over the years and I am now being looked after by Darren and Danielle who are both amazing. Special mention to all staff including Mina, Leah, Caroline Ross and of course all the assistants. My last system has been the best of all and I've had many compliments. I went Lucinda Ellery for advice having…
I went Lucinda Ellery for advice having suffered chemotherapy hair loss. I was advised to have an interlace system. I explained that I was still on chemotherapy and my hair was continuing to fall out so securing the system to my hair, which is what the interlace system involves, didn’t seem sensible. I was reassured that the system was suitable for me and would be effective. I duly had an interlace system put in place on 13th June. I was in the salon for 12 hours. The system fell off on 4th July I paid £2295 for a hair loss system that lasted only three weeks. I feel I have been exploited at a time when I was vulnerable due the cancer treatment hair loss. I will not be returning to Lucinda Ellery and advise anyone thinking of going to them to think carefully. There are good alternatives available as so have since discovered.

We historically have not responded to all of our reviews due to being so busy. I wanted to say we apologise for the delay in replying to your review. We are sorry you did not have a positive experience at Lucinda Ellery. I have spoken to Lucinda about your hair, she is mortified as we all are that this break down in communication could occur.
We have an in person or video consultations to specifically address any potential issues with managing chemotherapy hair loss. We normally advise that during Chemotherapy even when using the cold cap, there is always a high risk of total hair loss or near total hair loss. For this reason, we explain to potential clients during the consultation that they may need to have their Intralace system adapted free of charge to work with total hair loss. The Intralace system can be adapted to the the Intralace Freeware system in approximately 1 hour. we modify our clients Intralace system to work with special tapes around the perimeter. This is performed routinely when the cold cap is not effective at retaining at least 20% of hair. It can be worn 24/4 and washed on your scalp. we normally recommend changing the tapes once or twice per week.
There is a lot to take in during the consultation so I'm not sure how this break down in communication occurred. Its possible either this was not fully explained or this information was misinterpreted in some way. Either way, we are deeply sorry and we had a meeting about your issues.
I believe we asked you to visit us, however i understand my colleague did not reinforce that the system can be adapted to work with tape only during total hair loss weeks during your call. This was regrettable from our side as we should have made this clear to you during your call about losing a lot more hair.
We have subsequently changed our written information to potential clients during their consultation so in case this is not fully understood during the consultation, clients can refer back to their written information.

Extensions gave me bald patches
I visited the London branch on the recommendation of a friend who was delighted with her experience. I had thinning hair due to medication I was taking and was interested in extensions. The initial appointment was sketchy in that the staff member assumed I was there for their hairpiece solution, which my friend has and is delighted by, even though I had no alopecia (at that time!). once we had clarified that I was interested in extensions she explained the different types and we agreed a date to put them in. She told me there would be an inspection 8 weeks later and at that time I could either renew them or come back for another appointment to do so later or remove them. There was no mention of a two week check or the possibility of traction alopecia although the consent form I signed mentioned the two week review. I’m afraid I signed it without asking what it meant. I assumed the staff member had mentioned all the relevant information to me and the two werk review hadn’t come up. 8 weeks later I returned and the original extensions were removed and new ones put in. No one checked my scalp. No manager came over to review progress. A different technician was doing it this time and hers were much tighter than the first set, such that I sometimes had headaches, 8 weeks after that I went back. I hadn’t made up my mind whether to carry on or not. The extensions were taken out and it was assumed new ones wd be added. Again no one checked my scalp. I decided at that moment not to continue and left. At home that night I washed my hair and was horrified to see bald patches in the three places where the extensions had been. I cried myself to sleep. For about a month I was depressed. Didn’t want to socialise. Couldn’t tell my husband or children. Too ashamed. Bought a sort of boot polish to cover up the bald spots. I couldn’t see a future except a grey one. I avoided mirrors. Hated washing my hair. Then I. Contacted a hair transplant clinic and went to see them but they said I was bald in all the places they would use to harvest hair. I am now signed up for infra red treatment starting in two weeks plus injections into my scalp. It’s been the most terrible experience, worse than my breast cancer, not least because I brought it on myself. My hair was thinning, yes, but now it’s still thinning AND I have bald patches. What a result! And I paid to do this to myself. Extensions work for some people. But if you’re thinking about them ask for the two week review. I have communicated this all to the clinic whose main reply has been that I signed the consent form and I didn’t take good enough care of my extensions. My feeling is that they had two occasions to check my scalp and they didn’t do so . So whether I signed the consent form or not they had a duty of care to ensure the extensions weren’t making me bald. And they didn’t live up to that duty of care. Be aware of this if you are planning a visit. Ask them to check your scalp on every appointment . And sign nothing unless you are 100% sure of what you are signing . Good luck

It is our standard practice to offer free of charge test extensions at consultations. The test extensions are offered verbally and in written format on your consultation letter. I have checked your appointment notes from your consultation and this confirmed you did indeed have two test hair extensions during your visit.
We really can not do more then offer test extensions to our potential clients as per our hair safety page via the more info page on our website to test the suitability of our client hair to our hair extensions.
We also ask all clients to please only use the brush we recommend and supply at the actual hair extensions appointment, this is of vital importance. Combing or a brush with stiff bristles is potentially harmful to hair with hair extensions as this can catch on the extension and could produce broken hairs. While any broken hair is awful, it is however temporary and will regrow fully.
I understand from my colleague you unfortunately spent several weeks in hospital where it was perhaps difficult to attend to you hair fully. I'm sorry to hear this. Its perhaps possible this had some effect on your hair too.
The notes on our system say your hair was quite matted when you visited us. Its not in itself an indicator of much, rushing out the door after a quick wash etc however, it is important to brush hair that contains hair extensions each day and especially after washing, gently brushing the ends and working your way up the hair to the roots until all is smooth and fully and flowing.
We offer an 8 week guarantee for anyone having hair extensions with us which will allow for any fallen out extensions ( typically 10% over 2-3 months) to be replaced free of charge. We also apply 10% extra free of charge from the outset to allow for this.
Hair extensions that are applied using a polymer bond such as the type Lucinda Ellery offer can slip from the hair due to heat or moisture however, this should NOT produce a patch of broken hair, this is highly unusual.
We really don't understand why you had a problem and we are deeply sorry you had a distressing experience.
