I really wish I could give 0 stars. I’ve never had such an awful experience with a company. I can not state this enough. I purchased a pair of shoes to try on to see if I’d like to wear them for my wedding. They had good reviews online. Turns out I didn’t like them as much as ones I got from another company. I emailed to return them.
All in all I exchanged 29 emails trying to make this happen, despite what seems like an easy return process on their website. They tried to persuade me to pay them $60 more to exchange them for any other pair on the site, rather than pay the fee to return to India. It cost $80 to ship them back. Steep, but I didn’t want them, and they were $230 to begin with. It wasn’t until I sent 3 follow up emails AND messaged them on instagram did they finally get back to me, stating we “already had multiple communications”. We did have multiple communications until they stopped responding, and I told them it seemed they were trying to draw out the amount of time between emails for me to miss the return window. They then again offered to ship me new shoes. I had to reiterate again I wanted to return them. Again they didn’t respond until I followed up again letting them know I would file a grievance with India’s department of consumer affairs and start a charge back process. They replied an hour later, saying they did email me back with no response. Classic gaslighting. I asked several times within my emails when I could expect a refund after shipping them out without getting an answer. After getting a vague answer, I shipped them out.
The post office said it would take a few days to a week to get there but there seemed to be some issues, not the company’s fault entirely but I contacted them 3 weeks after shipping letting them know when I had shipped them out, sent tracking info, and the status updates of the package being in India, and attempted to go out for delivery 3 times and kept going back to the post office. I asked if they knew what was going on. No reply. I followed up 2 weeks later. No response. Followed up again 3 days later, letting them know if we didn’t get this figured out I would file the grievance and start the chargeback process within 2 days. They replied the same day. They apologized for the “delayed reply”, they hadn’t gotten the package, and there was an import duty of $70 so it was stuck at the post office. I called them out that the delayed response was willfully ignoring me time and time again. Their email made it seem I was responsible for the import duty, which I was not. I told them they could go pick it up from the post office and the duty was not on me, and that I would still file the grievance the next day if it didn’t get sorted out. They responded within the hour telling me they initiated the refund of $230, and that they forgot to ask me for additional money in order to avoid the import duty. I’m not sure if that last part is ethical but whatever.
I started this return process on 3/14 and didn’t get my refund initiated until 5/6. This company is trash. I’m sure they get lots of money out of people this way, who aren’t willing to push back and know who to contact in India.
