These motorized blinds are great

These motorized blinds are great. They look refined and work smoothly and quietly. And the customer service is wonderful. We had a slight problem with one of our blinds and they immediately fixed it. I would definitely recommend these blinds for your skylights.

Bathroom skylight shade w/solar panel

I got a bathroom skylight shade w/solar recharge panel. Main problem was working in 12' high 2' x 4' raked space. Works great! only hiccup was reversing the remote. Otherwise, a very satisfactory unit.

We’re glad to hear that your skylight shade with the solar recharge panel is working great, especially considering the challenge of installing it in a 12-foot-high, 2' x 4' raked skylight space. We understand that installations in these areas can be challenging, so it’s wonderful to know the final result met your expectations.

Regarding the remote direction issue you mentioned, this can be easily corrected through programming. If the shade moves in the opposite direction, please follow the steps below:

1. First, fully open the blackout shade.

2. Open the battery compartment cover on the remote control. Press and hold the P2 button until you hear a beep from the motor, then release the button.

3. Immediately press and hold the STOP (-) button until the shade jogs (moves up and down once). Do not wait too long between Step 2 and Step 3.

4. If the shade jogs up and down, the direction has been successfully reversed.

5. Then press the DOWN button. The shade should move to the fully closed position.

Good Product

Good delivery, reasonable value compared to others, and good product.
Installation instructions are not super clear, but as long as they are well studied, understood, and test alignment of the components, as well as accurate measuring of the window opening and exactly as per the details when ordering then all should go well.

Great, once you get through installation

Once assembled and installed, the product works great! We are very happy with skylight blinds. Although the videos are very helpful, the written instructions are not as detailed and none of the instructions take into account that if the skylight is narrow (mine is around 20" wide), you cannot slide the shaft far enough to one side to install the motor assembly as instructed in the video. Instead, I had to get creative and install the blind fully assembled. Also, the instructions do not give much detail on programming the remote. Up to 4 blinds can be controlled simultaneously. I found this out almost by accident.
Ultimately, very happy with finished product. Blinds open and close smoothly and block the direct sunlight onto our three season room

You are absolutely right that our installation instructions did not provide sufficient information regarding remote programming. Remote setup can be somewhat complex, so in most cases we pre-program the remote controls before shipment to make installation easier for our customers. After reviewing your order, we noticed that the group-control function was not configured before shipment. That was our oversight, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

We would also like to clarify one point regarding the remote control. The remote included with your order is actually a 6-channel remote, which can control multiple shades from a single device. Each of the six channels can be assigned to control an individual shade independently, while additional group-control configurations can also be programmed as needed.

Based on valuable feedback from customers like you, we have recently redesigned our installation documentation. We now provide both printed and PDF versions of our instructions. Going forward, customers will receive PDF manuals by email before delivery, including a dedicated remote programming guide, and a printed instruction booklet will be included in every package.

The Kurlax skylight solar powered shade…

The Kurlax skylight solar powered shade works as advertised, including a remote device, and the appearance is very good. My rating would be 5 stars, however, it is lowered to 3 stars.

A few reasons for the lower rating:

The wrong color shade was sent, we ordered Beige for our solar shade, the color sent was White.
Installation was very complicated due to misinformation in the set of installation instructions (12 or so pages) found on the Kurlax website (no instructions are sent with the product). These instructions appear to have installation steps out of order. I tried following the stated steps in this order, multiple times. The upper rail could not seat properly into the side rails following these instructions, which resulted in an inability to install the battery and metal bar. A video on the same website correctly shows that you need to install the top of the upper rail into the side rails before installing the sliders into the upper rail. If the sliders are installed into the shade part of the upper rail before the upper rail is installed into the side rails, the upper rail cannot properly connect to the end of the side rails.
Now I am searching for instructions for connecting this to Alexa. I will continue my search. Some form of communication to customers on finding various set up information would make the overall experience more pleasurable.
