I called Karl's Plumbing to change a gas shutoff valve
I called Karl's Plumbing to change a under cooktop gas shutoff valve and turn the gas back on from the main. Upon completing this the guy who came out said he had to check the water heater and boiler after turning the gas back on because it was connected to the gas. The guy did a few maneuvers like he was trying to turn on the water heater and said it wouldn't turn on cause the thermocouple/thermostat was bad. He took a picture of a label on the water heater and said I needed a new part. This guy yelled at me cause I didn't believe this was the issue. My water heater is fairly new and it was working fine before my contractor shut off the main to disconnect an old cooktop for a replacement, so it was pretty hard to believe that the heater was bad. The plumber left me with no hot water since he didn't properly get the air out of the heater. The air got in there when the main was shut off. Yes he did do what I hired him to do, but part of that job was to correctly be able to get the water heater back on according to what he said. There was nothing wrong with the heater as he said. He just went through phony motions of trying to get the heater back on.. This was a ploy to get me to order a thermocouple from them and charge me additional labor along with the new part. Another plumber came out who quickly let out the air from the water heater and had it up and running in no time. There was NOTHING wrong with the heater. Karl's cost me the extra charge of a 2nd plumber to do what he should have done. This company was dishonest with me. They saw a female as head of the home and took advantage. Do yourself a favor and hire someone else.
