I recently placed an order with Inky Ingredients and was very disappointed by both the packaging quality and how my complaint was handled.
My order arrived with all six essential oils lacking secured lids, resulting in one leaking into the paper wrapping and emitting a strong scent inside the box. Furthermore, the 1kg Witch Hazel arrived in a clear plastic bottle despite website photos displaying a dark, light-protective bottle, a critical factor when purchasing light-sensitive products.
I contacted customer service and supplied photographic evidence of the leakage, fully following the requirement stated on their own FAQ page for claims of damage and leaks. Despite this, their response was to suggest the oil might just be "residue on the outside of the bottle" and to ask whether I "believe the bottle has lost contents." They then asked me to weigh the bottle on a domestic kitchen scale to prove the loss, a requirement not mentioned in their policy, and one that is technically flawed without knowing the exact initial tare weight. They also confirmed that their glass bottles do not currently feature tamper-evident seals, despite their "What to Expect" page stating liquid items are double-sealed to prevent leaks. My initial concern regarding the clear Witch Hazel bottle went completely unaddressed in their first reply.
I ultimately requested a full return under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. While a full refund was eventually issued once the items were returned, the process involved unnecessary friction, including back-and-forth over failed courier collections.
The issue was never about receiving the refund itself, but rather the way the complaint was managed. Having to defend clear photographic evidence and being asked to weigh leakages on kitchen scales is unacceptable service.
I will not be ordering from Inky Ingredients again.
