You must use a smartphone to register on ID Me. I had trouble with the authentication, and had to re-set my password and pick a minimal security authentication (text) for it to work for me. A terrible expereince.

fast and efficient

Tried to verify documents. Didn't work for some reason and had to take pictures of documents and get a video call. About a week passes. 1 document is rejected because of "mismatching address", even tho the addresses match. I resubmit the rejected document, hoping it works this time. After a few days, i get tired of waiting and ask the A.I. chatbot to talk to a real person. It tells me to wait. I wait. I get distracted and forget to click "I'm here", which i apparently have to do every 10 minutes. I have to wait all over again. Eventually somebody ansers. They tell me to wait for emailing. I ask if they can fix the unverified document. They fix it and tell me to wait for a video call. I say great. This excitement was preemptive. I go to the waiting page for a video call. I thot it would be a choice of times that i could book. Instead it's a waiting screen to waste the rest of my day on. It says 50 minutes, this is the biggest lie ever told. Closer to 2 hours. I miss my dinner because the caffetteria closes at 07PM. And then i got verified. Would recommend. Would not want to.

Quick setup

It works really well and his partners with the US government, which makes it a trustworthy steward of your data for verification purposes without handing over sensitive info to other companies like merchants. It also helps aggregate you for signing into federal services like the IRS. Very useful and securely convenient. The iOS app is sleek and integrates well with my password manager Apple Passwords.

They need to better explain how personal data is secured, why it is needed. I do not trust them to safeguard my i.d. Nothing is secure!

I don’t think that it is necessary to upload a photo, How often do we need to upload a picture? How do I use the wallet?

Super easy to navigate! I took a photo of my passport and then a quick selfie. Approval was quick and easy!

The IRS page redirected me to ID.me to authenticate my identity for an online tax ID pin. It was a fairly easy process about 5 minutes and the technology worked well.

It was fast and very easy even for this technophobic senior citizen.

Absolutely terrible complicated process to try to verify my identity to correct my bank information for my tax return. wouldn't accept self verification and it took three failed video calls before having any success. I don't like how much of the process required google. I'm afraid of how much private information this one company has and that it's the only way to verify identity for the US government.

Having spent a great deal of time repairing a successful hack of my Social Security Account, and in the process learning how easy it was to hack an account, I've become much more security conscious. That said, I don't see an obvious hack around the ID.me system, particularly if a specific fixed home PC is integral in the process. After retirement I've become "less computer savvy" so it took more than one try to get my account verified, but once done it is now easy for me (and only me) to access my IRS data.

It was fairly easy to set up and easy to access information. Difficult to understand why the site doesn't allow you to go to the next page.

Use this site.. Don't be afraid of it if you are not comfortable with computers. This site is very user friendly

The experience was challenging and frustrating. I failed the first time because I did not remember addresses of family members. After getting over that hurdle, by calling a couple of my family members, the process became easy. It is disappointing when a program designed to identify you tell you you failed and are not who you say you are. While I appreciate the extra security, it was frustrating.
