My registrar of choice for the past 10 years or so. No frills, but they don't go crazy with the upsells either which I like.
The worst company ever
The worst company ever with the worst customer support and the worst employee attitude towards customers. I have bought a domain, they requested that they need a phone-call verification, although I provided all my personal information to them. After a very long and frustrating arguments with their indifferent customer "support" team they said that I'm free to "go" to another hosting company. On top of that, they have bought a ".com" version of my domain name and sort of black-mailed me by sending an email to the ".org" extension and saying that if I needed the ".com" domain I can call them, I knew that because I checked the whois record and it was registered by them :) can you believe that? They are the worst fraudulent hosting company ever.
A poorly designed and managed provider
It's not comfortable for me to write a poor review about a service that I have used from its beginning. I was with Tucows and accepted the transition to Hover. So it's been decades.
I use them for my (few) domains - which means I have to use their email (server) services as well. My great frustration with them is that they have very crude spam filter levels. I discovered that it had been eating up my email months ago and since then have struggled to find settings that work. With no success, so I am now forced to keep checking through their awful webmail interface every few days to see what has been trapped. So right now I'm looking for another domain manager - and I have to suggest that you avoid using their services.
Their customer service is slow to react, but I can live with that. They usually are reasonably helpful at getting issues resolved.
But their mail can be a real showstopper - and you should think about it before you sign on.
Lack of customer service.
Hover has some of the worst service I have received, after rebranding the company from "Enom" to Hover, I didn't notice the change over email and hover emails were going to my spam folder... When they transferred, they didn't transfer my payment information over, didn't phone me to notify they had changed it or that my domain was going into redemption due to this fact...
Now I have to pay $250 US which they refuse to reimburse because they wouldn't stand by their "auto renew" feature which clearly didn't auto renew because of their own actions.
I dealt with a woman, "Lei" she said her name was, when asked to speak to someone in management, she put me on hold for 15 more minutes, then informed me that nobody could speak with me currently and that they would e-mail me to confirm a phone call at a later date (which of course, I still have not received).
Awful service guys, wake up.
Fraudulent charging of credit cards for…
Fraudulent charging of credit cards for domain that I don’t have anymore. Complained by email, they didn’t answer. Feels like they sold fraudulent owner who wants to milk all brand equity out of it.
Very poor quality customer service
I have purchased a domain. They have taken the payment and charged my card but did not give access to the domain yet. It is truly frustrating, don't waste your money and time. A fraud company...
Been using hover for almost a decade
Been using hover for almost a decade, both professionally and personally. Excellent service, really really good site / interface.
And the fact that they're descendants of the famous tucows is icing on the top :)
Website is bugged and unable to login…
Website is bugged and unable to login to even make changes to my domain. After putting in password and 2FA code site just freezes and it's been like this for over 12 hours now, stay away if you need immediate access to your domain.
Paid for four domains, and received nothing
Purchased two domains from them, and transferred two to them (on the advice of a podcast ad read that I now regret). The purchase did not go through (the domains are still available, and the transfers were not completed), although I was CHARGED ANYWAY.
A day later, their customer service has done nothing to rectify this issue. Do not use.
Awesome customer support
Bought a domain name but needed to cancel since they don't do one click Wordpress installs. Their customer support was fantastic.
