We stayed at Bryan Bras, Brithdir, Dolgellau, North Wales at the end of May ‘26. This cottage is as good as the photos of it show. A lot of time, effort and thought had gone into its conversion and equipment. My family comprised 5 people and we found the cottage clean and very modern. The owners had thought through what a family of five - 4 adults and our grandson. - would or could possibly need and had it covered. I have stayed in a few holiday accommodations over the years and enjoyed this one very much - very comfortable. Plenty of room both inside and outside, with a great view all around in amongst the trees. My grandson appreciated the patio area so he could play footie and there is enough parking space for about 4 cars. We did have to get through 2 gates to get to the cottage, but no particular hardship, and conscious there are sheep about who decided to keep well away from us. So no disturbance from them. The only suggestion I would make is a lock on the toilet/bathroom doors would have got 5 stars. That said, I have no problem in recommending this place for a base to see North Wales - it helped we were there during one of the heatwave weeks. We had only one bout of rain - late evening into the night on the Thursday. Sun and blue skies in the morning though.

My reason for 3 stars is for the place we stayed at. The booking through holiday cottages was good The assistant was very very good.
We stayed at the glades in Cornwall.
The house was full of cobwebs and it was not vey clean, two of the en-suites the door locks were broken. The lack of items in the kitchen was not good for a self catering place.
We couldn’t watch tv as the Ariel wire had been broken by previous occupants. When reported, they ordered a wire, they expected us to sort it out and wrong wire was sent. Quite a disappointment really, as someone should have come out to fix this.

Where do I even begin?

I was an affiliate for Holidaycottages through Awin. One day, I emailed them to ask about their PPC policy. Out of nowhere, they suspended me, claiming I was using PPC. I contacted Awin to explain that I wasn’t running PPC ads – I was simply asking a question to ensure I followed their policy.

Regardless, they banned me.

To anyone thinking of becoming an affiliate or booking with Holidaycottages:

If you want to deal with people who can’t even read emails properly and risk being scammed, go ahead.

Their customer service is the worst – you’ll regret getting involved.

To Holidaycottages:
You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Hoilday cottages for me has shown great understanding of my neurodiversity and I tell you for why. I booked through pure excitement I suppose without fully understanding the mental trauma I would have experienced if I stayed in the property I was attracted too.
A beautiful shepherd's hut in Angelsea. Very quirky on a nearby farm. But I realised within a few hours I had made a mistake. It would be a great challenge for me to stay there. Too quirky. No regular order of which I live by.
Neurodiversily it wouldn't work regardless of my love of beautiful Wales. I appealed to them and asked for a refund. Regardless of they usual policy they understood. The owner too and only a week later a refund as promised was given. I am often labeled and judged but regardless of that prejudice I adore who I am. Its makes me me. Hoilday cottages understand. They respect neurodiversity. I will never forget this wonderful customer service ever and showing respect and depth of soul to all people.

I have been trying to book a property on this site for over a week and will not be using them or their other site Original Cottages as the prices on their site are a sham. You are passed to the main site where a 'security deposit' is added! Sharp practice! Reporting both sites to trading standards.
