They locked me out of my account on 23 Dec 2025, and gave me 6 business days to transfer my holding to another service provider or they would liquidate everything.
There was no justification given, simply 'its within our T&Cs, we dont need to provide a justifcation'
Don’t use it
Don’t use it. I couldn’t sell right now. I am losing money because of the mobile app is stuck. I canceled the order but the order is still there. The market price is above my ordered the price but the order is still there. I tried all i can but the app stuck and does nothing. It has happened yesterday but I thought it is just one off. Today is worse than yesterday. I am leaving them for sure.
They have truly fallen from grace
They have truly fallen from grace. They were a good and innovative broker with zero brokerage initially then over time everything became paid for and subscription. Even basic stuff like converting money which used to be instant is now telling you to wait a few days. Basically every basic feature is now a paid feature otherwise expect frustration and ridiculous wait timed. Am not paying a sub for basic features and am done with Stake. Truly a shame this platform. Report them to ASIC!
Maybe cheap and Nasty
Maybe cheap but when you want to get your money out they hold onto it and come up with excuses after excuses. My suggestion if you want to use them then BUY the shares and transfer to your other broker.
11 days now. My money is froze. They won't release
11 days now. They froze my money and won't let transfer back to my NAB account. There is nothing wrong with my bank account, I have for 20+ years. They have no excuse. They froze or stealing my money ? Help anyone? Please don't use Stake= Stealing.
Didn't last long with these guys
I joined up, & tried to transfer a few hundred dollars to my Stake account.
My bank stopped the transaction, citing Stake's disastrous reviews for probity/honesty - & refused to let me try again.
That was that.
Good broker but too simple for me
I used Stake over a number of months, placing a number of trades. I've now transferred to another broker. The Stake platform is very basic - I needed more advanced charting and trading tools. It would be fine for long term buy and hold etf style investing, but my weekly trading strategy couldn't be utilised with them. To their credit, withdrawing my cash and transferring my existing trades over was quite easy.
Froze My Money
Stake froze my account after I tried to make a withdrawal. It's been weeks on end and I am still yet to see my money. Will update when resolved.
Scam Alert: Stake Black Fails on Every Front
I wish I could give zero stars. DO NOT subscribe to Stake Black. It’s a rip-off. The platform does not support pre-market or post-market trading for U.S. stocks, despite what’s implied.
They started off well, but it’s now beginning to look like a scam. I contacted them five days after Wolfspeed’s restructuring to understand what was happening with the stocks I held. They promised to email me the same day—I’m still waiting for a response.
I also asked why I couldn’t buy or sell during pre-market hours. I was told that “some stocks are restricted by the companies,” but in reality, none of the stocks I tried—ranging from penny stocks to the Magnificent Seven—were tradable pre-market.
DO NOT FALL FOR IT. Stake Black is misleading and unreliable.
Extremely disappointed
Extremely disappointed. I tried to deposit $50, but was charged excessively high fees, resulting in an incorrect total. The transaction felt unfair and misleading. Not worth using.
I've upgraded it to stake BLACK
I've upgraded it to stake BLACK, and it worst to a level when the trade amount you put has meet the stocks share Price it suppose to sell, checking it for 20 minutes it didn't sell,
This happens in certain way end of each day your trade values are matching then the trade will happen. Otherwise it'll go on to another day when the sell order doesn't match , it supposed to sell in an instant if it's right. And it's not the same day trade as well, this is frustrating and will be one of worst experiences ever. Highly not recommended
And they keep cancelling trade orders that will not happen in a day trade, they cancelled 5 orders, broker fee they charge 3 , 15$ just wasted for nothing,

Low brokerage=Low Customer support
Provided you get set up ok and don't need support, it's an 'okay' platform with low brokerage. But, if you need anything from Customer Support, be ready for delays and half-answers. It's not unusual to wait a week just to get a query acknowledged, let alone answered.
Total waste of time and resources
Total waste of time and resources, very weak profits and losses too but today I'm convinced with eveyone, suddenly every penny in my account has been lost and it has never been closed as it has been doing, incredible. Well I'm now on Good merit, platform and it's been a good choice to me since other investors have moved there too.
On the money
Been with Stake for a year now and very impressed with their support and product.
The app is easy to use and response times from their customer support has been good.
Non-existent customer service
What can I say? I joined Stake with high hopes of starting my SMSF. It's easy enough to trade with, but customer support sucks. Don't use them if you expect quick responses from customer service.
I've had an open request with them for over two weeks now. I got their initial email that they'll respond after 24-48 hours, then I sent a follow up a week later, then another follow up two weeks later.
It seems customer service is non-existent at Stake. Will probably switch providers when my membership is up for renewal.
Do not trust Stake with your SMSF or investments
We entrusted Stake with our SMSF, and it was a decision we regret. We will be withdrawing our funds and moving them to a more reputable company.
After falling victim to an investment scam, Stake has shown an appalling lack of support. It has been nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone helpful, leaving us completely abandoned during a critical time. In stark contrast, victims with other banks were promptly notified of the scam and even had blocks put in place to prevent further fraudulent payments.
Stake works with Airwallex, and neither company appears to have adequate financial crime controls. This lack of proactive measures and responsive customer service is completely unacceptable when managing significant investments.
We strongly advise against trusting Stake with your money. Their dismal support and lack of adequate safeguards put your investments at serious risk. Choose a provider with stronger security measures and responsive support—you won’t find that here.

Bad customer service and funding delays
I paid for "instant funding" if my account. 3 days later 4 emails and 2 phone calls stake has stopped replying and my money is nowhere to be found. I sent them the bank statement showing ownership of the account and the receipt if payment but the agent misread it and stopped replying. Absolutely horrible customer service. I am definitely transfering my money back and requesting a full refund of all fees. These basic service mechanisms have to work for finance UIs and they just do not work at all for stake

Absolute crap to deal with!
Started off fine with SMSF account and deals for low brokerage fees. Kept on increasing since 2022. Very high FX fees everything you transfer money AUD USD and back. Not a seamless buying experience like IBKR.
Introduced Stake Black and started charging for that on each account.
Also be warned about some made up FINRA day trading Margin call requirements.
Never had an issue with Day trading on IBKR. Called support who has no clue what it means and sent me a link to read up myself.
After telling them clearly it does not apply to me as I do not have a margin account.
- Exhorbitant brokerage fees
- No interest given on cash balances.
This will cost you big money. Example $300000account uninvested funds gets you 3.8% - 4% (IBKR) with other brokers. That's $11,000 or more interest Stake pockets on your cash.
-20,000shares buying limit per order. Causes big issue if trading in Low $ value stock. Have to raise multiple orders one after the other. How basic! Lost opportunities due to price movment.
- no ability to short stocks
- no overnight trading
- Useless trading platform(app) if you can call it that.
Charting is for 5th graders level.
- Snail pace order execution so you have so much leakage in order price.
- if you place a price sensitive order. Forget about quick in and out trades. App doesn't even register a execution for seconds and you are left to wonder if it has gone through or not.
-Done Limit order execution for same price order on IBKR and stake as a trial many times. IBKR executes as order routing is much much better. Stake sits there and dreams on.
- Stake's online trading broker must have given them a cheap no frills deal.
- US and ASX Separate accounts so you have to keep moving money back and forth so they can charge over the top FX fees.
- Extreme over the top commissions
HELLO stake was introduced as a great low fee option. Has lost its way maybe due to mgmt.
Not competitive and thus shutting down UK operations.
Only a matter of time Aus/NZ shuts down as customers leave in droves.
Stake mgmt should do a simple sense check and check IBKR for some ideas on how to save this business.

Initially, I thought Stake was a reputable and trustworthy brokerage firm; however, I have come to realise this was incorrect. The company appears primarily focused on extracting funds from its customers. Although their transaction fee of $3 for buying and selling is relatively low, it is still higher compared to other brokerage firms that either charge no fee or only $1.
Moreover, Stake levies a foreign exchange (FX) fee of 2%, which can accumulate significantly when transferring funds in and out of the account. The most considerable concern is the transaction processing time, which is advertised as being between 1 to 2 days; in practice, however, it has stretched to 10 days and is still ongoing. Additionally, one must consider the transfer fees, which can reach approximately USD 200 per stock. Consequently, there is a substantial risk of incurring significant financial losses.
As a relatively young company, Stake has lost sight of the importance of customer satisfaction. The continued operation of any business is contingent upon its client base, yet the company exhibits behaviours that may be perceived as unprofessional.
