Well I bought the 7 string jazz guitar because it was the only one I found on the market, it arrived early well packed and high quality especially for the price, easy put together minimal fuss, everything needed was provided apart from paint /stain would I recommend a purchase most certainly keep up the good work cheers from the UK

I ordered my WR kit back in 2022. When I ordered my kit, they said it was going to be about 6 months to receive it. I settled in to wait patiently, only to be surprised about 6 weeks later saying my order had shipped. It arrived quickly, well packaged and a quick check showed that everything needed was there in the box.

I pulled everything out and did a test fit build in December of that year. Everything went together very well and even just the unfinished instrument was solid and playable. There were some high frets, but that is to be expected with a kit, and there are tons of videos online that teach how to deal with that (which I did before the final assembly). The only issue was that there was quite a bit of neck dive with the bass. Some quick research turned up that that is very typical for Warlock basses in general, so I dismissed it as part of the experience.

But I wasn't going to leave this thing stock. It was getting modded to the hilt.

The front of the headstock got a gloss black paintjob with white vinyl lettering for my 'brand': JC Bass (my own handwriting no less). This then got a coat of clear gloss. The neck itself and the back got an opaque black stain and then sealed under multiple coats of Tru-Oil.

The body...well...that's fun. Stranger Things 4 had just aired and I decided to do a tribute to Eddie Munson's guitar...except a bass. I ordered some Montana Cans red paint for the under coat, and then some of their Black Crackle finish to achieve that "Upside Down" vibe. Turned out fantastic!

Black Hipshot Kickass bridge, black chrome skull knobs (with red jewel eyes!), a black switch, and a custom ordered neck plate naming the bass "Chrissy" and to help with the neck dive, black Hipshot Ultra-lite tuners. For pickups, I chose the ever popular and aggressive sounding Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders.

The kit itself made the ultimate platform to build the bass I wanted without having to strip components, paint and refinish. The kit was a great base to begin with, and would be a great option for anyone wanting a Warlock style bass.

As my prom date from decades ago stated “I’ve never done this before”. Unlike said date, I’m being truthful. It’s not my first build but it is my first time reviewing anything. I figure if something is good, I’ll support the business. If not, I’ll take my business elsewhere. That being said, these kits are a frickin blast. This must be my fifth or sixth kit from Guitar Kit World. My latest is an LP hollow body. And to be honest and upfront, take those difficulty charts to heart. I believe this one was a 7 or 8 on the chart. I’m glad I had built a few simpler ones before. This kit tested me. But! BUT! Do I have an incredible looking, sounding, and (most of all) wicked playable instrument. It has shot to the head of the class and is my go-to unit. I’m currently completing a spalt maple Strat type that’s going to for sure look awesome. And there’s an ICE type mahogany still boxed up waiting its turn. The new units will have to bring their A game if they’re going to play in the same league as the LP. But don’t we all like good competition?

Guitar Kit World made my dreams come true back in 2016! I’m a huge EVH fan and since 86’ I wanted to build his Kramer 5150 guitar and they helped me do that with a KR kit . It came fast and with everything I needed to make my build super smooth. Customer are amazing there if you needed anything. Thank you again for everything GKW .

Everything went together wonderfully and it turned out excellent. I had a ton of fun working on this project. Out of the box: The body was in great condition as was the neck. Both required a bit of sanding (and the neck pocket required lowering 1/8" because the fret board sat too high for the saddles to raise the strings off the fret board) but it came together nicely and all holes and routed cavities were in the right place, and quite clean. Mods: I made a custom leather pick guard to go with my choice of a thin nitro tobacco burst finish and I'm happy with the mojo going on :) I also swapped out the tuners, pickups, and bridge/saddles (what came with the kit is workable and will be used in other projects or just reside in the parts bin for future) and went with a GraphTech nut. Aside from these mods the guitar is all from the kit (neck, body, pots/switch, etc.) and I'm happy with how it turned out. Looking forward to my next build!

This is now one of my favourite guitars, it is up against a Gibson les paul, a 335, fender 52 tele’ a MIJ Fender strat, equal to my Fender custom shop strat’.
So there yer go. easy to build, used a wrap round bridge…

Used this kit for the parts on my own 3D printed body. It was great to not have to piece together the individual parts. I had the extra wooden body, Ill try to come up with something clever to make with it. Put it together and its sounds great. Made another one for my best bud for a wedding gift, he loved it.

I got the Tele kit with a mahogany body and roasted maple neck. Neck joint was nice and snug. Body was nice with no nicks or dents, and the neck was perfect. I carved out a few "comfort cuts" before paint and they turned out great! After finishing the guitar it was necessary to lower the nut with nut slot files and a sanding block by almost a quarter inch to achieve proper string height. It does play smooth and perfect now.

Update to my August 22, 2025, negative review. My major issue was a problem with the neck truss rod adjustment (see original review). Nathan in Customer Service responded to some of the minor issues with prompt replies and did his best to resolve issues. After several emails, he requested more information regarding the neck problem. We had several civil exchanges, and I did provide photos and explanations for all the solutions I tried to correct the problem. Much to my surprise, he proceeded to have company guitar technicians review the photos and discussions I had with him, and they agreed to have a new neck fabricated and shipped from the factory at no charge. It did take a few months, but I received a new straight neck with great truss rod adjustment and fret work. So if you have a legitimate issue with your kit, I highly recommend reaching out to Customer Service (please be nice) and document your case. So, 5 stars to Nathan for his help!! I will consider future build kits for this company.

It wasn’t an easy build. Although we made changes along the way that improved the final product, problems came up that had to be addressed. We settled on a design that balanced form and function and are happy with the results. As I said, it wasn’t an easy build, but that is what made it worth the effort.

Nice looking kit. Can't wait to give the zebra wood a great finish. In all honesty I think after I have put some sweat into it the finished product will be the pride of my collection. I have six guitars and look forward to hanging a seventh one that I finished hanging on the wall.

First Guitar Build

If you’ve ever wanted to understand what makes a guitar tick without spending $1,500 at a big-box retailer, the Guitar World TE Style Kit is an absolute no-brainer. I just finished my first build, and am quite pleased with the finished product. I took my time to ensure I did things correctly and to my liking. For under $260 this guitar is perfect. Sounds excellent thru an amp as well. Is it a boutique heirloom out of the box? No. But with a little patience and some sandpaper, you end up with a high-performing instrument that you can proudly say you built yourself. I already purchased another TE style and an LP style to make this year.
04/10/26: Late addition: I also purchased a 335 style guitar. I'll be busy for the rest of the year.

I received a Tele build with a spalted maple top. This was proabably my 12th build and second order from GKW. The first build was a Firebird and that turned out to be a very good build as well. SO nice, I was able to sell it! The Tele build was an easy build compared to some of the others. The design is simple. I used tung oil for the finished and buffed it up with car polish. Plugged into an amp, it sounds really good.

Poor Quality, no help from Guitar Kit World, only delaying tactics. DON'T BUY THERE!

I ordered a kit for a grandfather/grandson project, but soon after found that a tariff would increase the cost. We changed the order which came down to a different fretboard material in a kit that shipped from New Jersey (no tariff) and it arrived with no issues. Thanks for the heads up, Guitar Kit World!

We purchased a bass kit. When we assembled it we found about 30%+ of the frets were lifted. We had to pay a professional Luthier to fix and get it to a playable state. About 3 months later GKW sent me a request to review, I reviewed it and got a direct message which asked me to send photos. When I asked about recourse I was informed they do not resolve anything after 1 month - I had no clue this issue existed in the first month. Their responses after the fact felt like they blamed it on me for not reporting it sooner - when they elicited the feedback and then did nothing to help resolve it. Ultimately this instrument was unusable without major amounts of luthier work.

Response to their reply: I have purchased over 10 guitars and have never had a single popped fret. this instrument had over 80% of the frets popped. This level of quality failure is not humidity alone, it's poor craftsmanship or parts or all three.

I ordered a JEM- Style guitar kit in december 2024, and march 1 it arrived. About 10 weeks.. that is not thanks to Guitar Kit World but the horrible delivery system of China, I believe. Anyway, got it. The body needs some shavings, and the headstock point is not exactly Ibanez, but they never claimed it is an Ibanez. Nothing I can not take care of myself. (except the postal system. lol)

I am so excited to purchase my first guitar kit with the guidance of the Guitar Kit World support team. wonderful experience with the team and looking forward for my first build.

update:company totally redeemed themselves with a full refund after experience went south... it’s tough times out there for everyone and these guys treated me right and we were able to move ahead with a build kit after all.
