Waste of time and money…

My mom has been my live in caregiver since November 19, 2024 to present day. Her case worker had requested for her NPI number be added to my case and paperwork related to my disability claim. I’ve called customer service numerous times to have LaShondra contact me after being told I’m not allowed to call her directly or know her last name. Also, I’ve asked numerous times for an email to be sent with my account information.

It has been weeks and no call back or email sent. Every time I call CS line I’m either met with an attitude, hung up on “accidentally”, or lied to by the representative. They pretend to put my request through and tell me to wait 24-48hrs. When nothing happens within that timeframe I have to callback and they act surprised. I don’t know what else to do or who else to call just to avoid the other representatives. They’ve made my post surgery experience extremely challenging and difficult these past few weeks.

Not A Good Choice for Employee Benefits

I am a benefits administrator for my employer and have been doing benefits administration work for about 20 years. I had an employee elect to continue Dental through COBRA. We have shown Guardian that the person enrolled and the enrollment was transmitted to them through ADP, but they won't budge even though we are more than happy to pay the retro premiums. We are not paying for the claims directly to make the person whole, but I have never seen an insurance company be unwilling to correct such an error, especially since we can show they were sent the enrollment.

Very poor customer service

Very poor customer service. When you searching for information you need, it is not ANYWHERE on the website. No breakdown of plan prices or what each covers. Seriously??? When you call no one wants to help you by emailing you simple information in regards to your plan. The responses are always, "well did you try jumping through these hoops yet?" No I didn't. I called you because the website gives no basic simple information. Unfortunately still no one on the phone was willing to help me so I gave up. THANKS FOR NOTHING

It has been a very bad experience with them. In 2019 the application for health insurance in Jamaica was slow and painful. Now in 2024 the new application got lost and the salesman Romero Carnegie is very incompetent and should be fired

GUARDIAN DENTAL -AS UNETHICAL AS THEY COME

I have been managing dental practices in the Chicagoland area for more than 33 years. Guardian has denied more claims for crown restorations and "deep cleanings" (aka periodontal scaling & root planing) than any other carrier I have ever dealt with. It appears that they have a standard policy of denying the former unless a tooth has had root canal therapy or upwards of 80% or more of the tooth structure is gone. And they will always deny claims for the latter procedure unless a patient's teeth are ready to fall out. Their requirements for deep cleanings to be covered are ridiculously stringent and outdated; their denials always violate the current norms of the American Academy of Periodontology. I have worked for practices where I have been brought on almost exclusively to appeal Guardian claim denials. Additionally, their response to my requests for claim review usually consist of a copy of the original EOB with an additional disclaimer that is always the same pro forma declaration that repeats the original denial reason with no other reasoning for their decision being provided. It is only when I have followed up these appeal denials with a formal complaint to state insurance regulators or involve the sponsoring employer's plan administrators that I have received a more comprehensive document delineating in detail why their alleged "dental consultant" upheld the decision to not pay benefits for legitimately rendered dental treatment. Guardian denies procedures that 99% of all other dental insurance carriers will cover. And this has been the situation for the more than 3 decades I have been submitting dental claims. This carrier is incorrigible, unethical and unrepentantly malfeasant in how they refuse to pay out benefits that their subscribers and we dental providers are rightfully owed.

STAY AWAY FROM GUARDIAN DENTAL

I am having a problem with Guardian Dental Insurance.

I had two dentists that said I needed an extraction, I was pre approved by Guardian, then after the procedure they started coming up with reasons not to pay. AETNA INSURANCE PAID IMEDIATELY WITH NO QUESTIONS on the same claim!!! PLUS AETNA's WEB SITE WAS AMAZINMGLY SIMPLE.

What is interesting is that their internal doctor did not know I had pre-approval, (according to their customer service rep that I recorded). I pointed this out after two months of phone calls back and forth and suddenly it was paid. Sound a little fishy? It was, just look at all the complaints on the Better Business Bureau:

So my wife Jennifer, same dentists as myself, gets a crown due to a cracked tooth and once again, their internal doctor is denying it was needed. These dentists have very good reputations in CT!!. They conducted all the correct tests for Cracked Tooth Syndrome and said she needed the crown. Once again it was denied even after the dentists submitted proof of all the tests required.

Are other people in CT having the same issues?

Shouldn't they be investigated?

Terrible co

Terrible co. As a dental office, we were credentialed to see guardian patients through a third party (careington). They automatically switched to a direct contract with a much much lower fees without any notice/papwrwork/approval from us. My understanding is this may account to high level of fraud… the person I was talking to also agreed on the phone it was a mistake, then they ghosted us.…. I was hoping to resolve it peacefully. As a startup, we want to see patients and offer the best possible service and treatment options, but also get paid per the contract… guardian failed on multiple levels and we wasted hours and days trying to resolve this.. finally gave up guardian… very sad that they take advantage to doctors and dentists in this manner… as a startup we don’t even have the resources to fight them…

Last minute refusal of coverage

Been paying my dental insurance rates like a good little sheep. Then when I needed to have a tooth extraction and replacement, suddenly it something not covered by the insurance company. $5k out of pocket. At this point having dental insurance with Guardian isn't worth it.

I am insured with Gaurdian Life through…

I am insured with Gaurdian Life through my work. I pay this company to provide me with peace of mind should I become ill. Well, after a year if paying forbthis insurance every week, I did become ill and temporarily unable to work. Gaurdian Life paid my short term disability benefits with out a problem. A week before I was released to go back to work, my doctor extended my leave one more week for a total of 7 weeks. I called Gaurdian to have my benefits extended one week. Two days later I was contacted via phone by a guardian representative. She told me that all required documents were received and approved. I was told there would be no delay issuing my final payment. 2 weeks later and I am still waiting for my last payment. I call or chat with live agent regarding my claim status daily. Either they don't know anything about my claim, or they make up false information to tell me. I have recorded chat logs as well as phone conversations with several different agents. They all tell me something different. This is unacceptable. This insurance is designed to help people should they become ill and unable to work. I pay for this every week out if check. It's not like they are "giving me a hand out." Now that I am working again, they put me off on the my last week of disability benefits. Please beware of this company. If your employer offers this company through your job, or you're thinking about purchasing this insurance yourself, I would definitely take pause and look into other companies. Gaurdian does not do as promised. Their customer service is terrible. They do not communicate with each other, and will give you incorrect information. To a person who depends on these benefits to live while out of work, correct information is vital. Gaurdian needs to step up their game. Now that I am back to work, I will be canceling this insurance and looking for a more dependable company.
