It's when things go wrong that you get to see how good your supplier is...
My shipment of dough got held up by the courier company. For three days. It sat in a van and was ruined when it arrived. I'd ordered it to arrive in time for my son's 18th birthday. He'd chosen a pizza party in the garden for his group of friends.
I'd contacted GBOF as soon as I became aware of the delay. I was contacted by Steph, who was incredibly helpful in resolving the situation. Once we were certain the dough was not going to arrive on time or in good order, Steph put another shipment on an overnight delivery to ensure the day was saved. And she also followed up to make sure everything went to plan.
Such amazing customer service is hard to find!

Ordered gluten free doughballs for…
Ordered gluten free doughballs for pizza. These came with no instructions and I had to google what to do with them. Instructions were very vague. They turned out horribly. Very dry dough. Did not rise at all. Stodgy and unpleasant. I’m sure instructions would have helped as gluten free dough is very temperamental.

The effort to perfect the technique is worth it
I’ve been buying dough from this supplier for years, and if you struggle at first, stick with, it’s worth it. The dough can feel sticky, but a little of their pizza dust or covering in fine semolina sorts it quickly, and the technique soon becomes second nature.
I used to buy only the Neapolitan dough until I accidentally ordered the sourdough. It needs a gentler stretch, tastes fantastic, and I now wish I’d listened to the owner’s recommendation much sooner.
I’ve tried every supermarket dough out there; none come close. This really is in a league of its own. Customer service is excellent too, you can tell it’s a proper family business.
I love Italian restaurants, but my stomach doesn’t always love me back. These doughs have been a game‑changer: great flavour without the “after‑effects.” Pizza Fridays have now expanded to Wednesdays and Sundays… Great Balls of Flour is slowly taking over the week

We are so glad that the "happy accident" with the sourdough order paid off. Bubbles (our sourdough mother) works incredibly hard during that 36-hour proofing process to break down the gluten. That is exactly why you get all that flavour without the uncomfortable after-effects you sometimes get at restaurants. It really is a game-changer.
You are spot on about the technique, too—a little pizza dust, a gentle stretch, and you get authentic perfection every time. As for taking over your week... Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday sounds like a perfectly sensible schedule to us, have you had it for breakfast yet?!!

I bought sourdough balls
I bought sourdough balls. The amount of dough was not really enough to work with for a 12” pizza. We like a fair amount of topping on ours and that wasn’t possible with such a fragile thin base. If it was easier to work with it might have been easier to create a larger area, but it was tricky to get an even stretch and create a good shape. I followed the guidance but it didn’t rise much either and was pretty chewy. Might have to revert back to making my own dough. Only got these as I’m trying to reduce gluten due to chronic illness.

We are really sorry to hear your first bake with us was a bit of a struggle, especially as you bought these to help manage your gluten intake. Sourdough is absolutely brilliant for that, so we'd love to help you get the best out of it!
Our dough balls are 250g, which is the traditional standard for a 10-12" Neapolitan pizza. Because it's a traditional dough, it creates a wonderfully thin base that isn't really designed to hold a heavy load of toppings. If you love a fully loaded pizza, a great trick is to just stretch it a little smaller, to about 10 inches. That gives you a much sturdier base to hold all your favourite ingredients!
It definitely takes a little practice to get the stretch and rise just right with a proper sourdough, but please don't give up just yet. Drop us an email if you'd like some tips—we'll gladly help you nail it.

Functional Refund
The delivery was speedy and we have yet to try the product. However, the tomato sauce arrived smashed and broken glass & sauce covered the contents of the parcel. Considering the inconvenience to us, the offer of reimbursing £4 seems quite poor. One of our family members has coeliac disease and we were excited to try a GF pre made dough but this experience has tainted the purchase for us.

Thank you for your honest feedback. We sincerely apologise for the smashed sauce. Having to clean up broken glass is incredibly frustrating and certainly not the standard we aim for.
We invest heavily in secure, protective packaging to prevent this exact scenario, but occasionally, parcels are handled with enough force in transit that even our best packaging cannot withstand it. It is especially disappointing to hear this impacted a much-anticipated gluten-free meal for your family member.
I also want to touch on the £4 refund. I realise that no amount of money instantly makes up for the inconvenience of a ruined box. The team calculated that £4 would be over-reimbursed to you by about 30% of the discounted price you paid for the sauce when it is included in the bundled box, ensuring you were not left out of pocket for the item.
We hope the dough proves successful for you, and we are sorry for the difficult start.

The code didn't work because it was likely a "Dough & Base"- specific code. These work on all our edible dough products, but they don't apply to the larger hardware kits or gift boxes (unless it is a special "Store Wide" event).
We do try to note this in the T&Cs, but we appreciate it isn't always obvious when you are in a rush to buy. I hope the recipient enjoys the kit regardless! 🍕
