When I researched Penfold Pensions all looked very good. The transfer in was slow but eventually all was settled.

The big problem is when you decide to drawdown. I have had three drawdowns and each one Penfold’s have got the tax with HMRC totally wrong.

Drawdown one, the drawdown was made a monthly payment according HMRC and not a one off payment in the tax year. So my tax rate changed to owing HRMC £130,000+ tax. This impacted on my regular monthly small pension payment. Until I spent over an hour on the phone to HRMC. After weeks of internal investigation, Penfold’s not their issue, everything was done correctly, not according to HMRC., the correct box had not been highlighted.

Second drawdown, I was stopped 40% tax instead of the BR by Penfold’s. Penfold’s again not their problem. 10 months later, and many phone calls to HMRC and form filling, I got refund of tax from HMRC.

The third and final drawdown Penfold’s have not notified HRMC that this one off payment and is not a regular monthly payment. This was a one off payment and closure of the account. Once again in my tax code has changed and my small monthly pension payment will be taxed at 40%, until I spend a lot of time on the phone to HMRC.

Based on poor experience, I would not advise anyone to go with Penfold Pensions.

I hate penfold. Every single time i try and sign in it take 4-5 times. As there is always some error on the web.

Easy to deal with

I fully registered a company with Penfold, then when i first tried to logged it has appeared that they have deleted my email off the account.

On calling I followed there steps to login and they were unable to help me. I had to call back twice as the first call handler end the call trying to put me on hold.

They don't seem to be able to fix the problem quick, please read similar review before you sign up. so not to get caught out.

Easy transfer of pension. Penfold made it easy
