Great company to deal with, excellent products & service!

I use George hills on a regular basis and find them up there with the best materials suppliers around. Their staff are always helpful and knowledgeable. If they say they’ll deliver the goods on a certain day they’ve always kept up the said date and their prices are very competitive. Probably why they’ve been around for so long.

We started using George Hill's in recent years.
Purchases include, torch on felt, various sizes c16 timbers, post fix concrete, aggregates, sheathing ply, OSB and MDF, cut and full sheets, amongst many other construction products, also items from the shop.
Any orders not being collected by ourselves was promptly and punctually delivered.

An absolute breeze dealing with the Staff at George Hill Oldham.
From emailing over our order to the delivery of the materials for the new build properties they were amazing.

I have used George Hills for over 15 years, great guys and a great company. They have the largest selection of materials in the area, Yet again, went in last week, and nothing was too much trouble, from the lads who helped me find the right mouldings I needed, the chap who cut my mdf for me as well as Steve in the shop who always helps me find the right fixings I need. Gordon and Kev are always on the ball with orders too, thanks guys!

Started to use George Hill over last year due to issues with our previous supplier. Prices are better but more importantly the service is superb. Always have the stock & delivery is prompt. Highly recommended.

As I said in my first review hill's costed me £48.80 for 5 lengths of 75x50 c16.yes I'm a joiner. I gave it back to them as they are just jumping on the band wagon covid bexit excuse for hiking there prices. the same timber at howarth timber nt door was £30 and yes before the owner comes on and says its not the same quality. yes c16.I used hill's for 30 years but no more .shame on them.

Bought all my decking equipment from them but then needed some more 4x2 4.8m cutting into 2.4m as they couldn’t deliver so we could fit into car paid for it day before and I was told to collect next day between 8am -1pm due to being away I had to send the joiner to collect on arrival they ended up asking him to carry the lengths to be cut taking him off my job when I rang to complain they said they had skeleton staff so they were struggling that’s not my problem what was my problem was the other day when the delivery driver just ditched my stuff on the grass infront of house when I had Skeleton staff ie just me to carry materials in and before they say he can’t do it due to covid it didn’t stop them asking for charity from my joiner today absolute joke

Oldham Branch. Went to get an half inch 8 X 4 plywood sheet ordered and cut. Told because of skeleton staff can only do one cut to fit in the (estate) car. I did go in and check with the staff who did measure the car and suggest I have the cut length-ways but this meant I would loose part of the sheet I needed and would not fit in the car safely. Buying two sheets and having them cut different ways is unacceptable and won't do that because of the cost. If someone is using the saw is there really a difference between one cut and two? Really it's a pathetic excuse to sell two boards instead of one. At first I thought the saw was having problems but skeleton staff, pull the other one!.
Now, I only use this merchant because of travel convenience and only when I want redwood and to be honest the timber is not of very good quality, I would rate it probably good and the prices are not that competitive. I suppose I may call again if I want redwood but I think it's time I found another supplier? Seriously if things are that bad why don't they just close down? I would give this supplier zero stars but the system won't let me.
