Areas for improvement would be: 1) better packaging for shipment; and 2) quality control (one of the pages was cut incorrectly when being fitting into the book due to part of the paper being folded over). I am not yet done reading the book yet so there may be other comments. Over all I would say I am very happy with the purchase.
Well done edition in content and production. Then bought on sale, super bargain, almost a steal :-D

Outstanding. As expected from Folio
I'm glad that I purchased this book in the Folio Society winter sale because otherwise I don't feel I could've have afforded it otherwise. Regardless, the book is a fantastic high quality textual and photographic double volume history from Mallory & Irvine (1921) through to Hilary & Tenzings (1953) first successful summit of Mount Everest. Even if you're not interested in mountaineering, the photographs alone and the undoubted quality of the book, make it worthy of owning and adding to your collection.
An excellent and accessible archive of the exploration of an iconic region. Engrossing narratives and exceptional photographic record.
This is a fabulous book that I purchased in the recent sale. Beautifully produced and full of interesting photos and anecdotes about the early Everest expeditions. Excellent quality and thoroughly enjoying it.

This purchase was a gift and our first from your company. We were hesitant at first to purchase because of its very high cost. My husband called to check on the availability of a military discount and he was advised that no discounts were available at that time.We made the purchase out of a desire to honor a birthday wish! Shipping was fairly slow but considering the distance it traveled understandable.Packing was fabulous.When we perused the books we were so impressed with the quality of each book.The recipient LOVED the set! We were really glad to have made the purchase. However, one of the first emails we received from your company shortly after Christmas was your catalog of the half priced books sale which included the almost $400 set we had purchased only a few weeks earlier. Bad luck for us! BUT the special edition set was lovely and we highly recommend it to other adventure/Everest lovers.
I subscribe to some YouTube mountaineering channels am quite addicted and when I saw the promotion sales video of the staff members painstakingly combing film archives that are deteriorating because thats what film does - I bought the set immediately.

A very beautiful book which I managed to purchase while it was being sold at half price. Anyone interested in Everest would love it.
Not fully read it yet, but recently back from the Himalayas and Mt. Everest this adds to my collection of books on the subject.
This was a gift to a friend who lives in Oregon. I have not actually seen the books. But this was a special gift on his 75th birthday. He has trekked twice to the Himalayas and the gift was a perfect tribute to our lifelong friendship. He was thrilled. We met when we were in first grade.
