With the predominance of massive "fast fashion" retailers like Shein and Primark it's become increasingly difficult to find genuinely unique and high-quality clothing for those who want something truly special. Small retailers and designers get drowned out by the sheer volume of short-lifespan clothing produced by generic brands, and cannot compete on price with Asian gigafactories who show little regard for their workers or the environment.

Therefore I was pleasantly surprised when I found the small Swedish rainwear designer/manufacturer Farmerrain, who produce a wide range of fashionable and practical raingear of the highest quality that doesn't cost the earth - figuratively and literally! In fact they have so many fabulous looking models and colours to choose from I found it hard to decide what to buy, but eventually settled on an "Embla" suit consisting of a jacket with matching trousers in a vibrant red/yellow/white, sure to brighten any grey & rainy day. I liked that I could wear the jacket on its own, and also combine the trousers with other clothing depending on the weather and temperature.

Once I had decided on the model placing my order was pretty straightforward - there's a size chart that makes it easy to identify the right size ("small" in my case), and their checkout process is as good as anyone's, with multiple payment and delivery options. Shipping was reasonably swift, with the parcel arriving after a week, which isn't too bad for a small company. I did contact them to ask for an estimated delivery date and they responded promptly and politely.

Even though I'd spent a fair amount of time looking at the pictures of their different models none of it prepared me for the stunning items I received; even before I opened the parcel the weight alone told me that it wouldn't be some flimsy "wear-once" garment, but I was still surprised by how gorgeously thick and heavy their "Biovinyl" material is, and the colours are just... wow! I checked the seams and construction and found no issues whatsoever - both the jacket and the trousers had been perfectly made, and the size was spot on too. I couldn't be happier!

I have since worn the combo and the individual pieces maybe half a dozen times and found them incredibly comfortable, whether it's been for a hike in the forest or a rainy-day shopping trip. The bright colours really cheer me up and they have the same effect on the faces of people I meet. This is exactly how to dress for a rainy day, and whatever style & colours you prefer Farmerrain got you covered. I'm sure the Embla suit will last me a long time - but I'm equally sure it won't be the last thing I buy from them! Truly one-of-a-kind, superbly made, with care for the planet - love it so much!

I purchased the Adventure Pinafore bibs and the first time I put them on the crotch seam immediately pulled out. The pants are kind big so this should not have happened. The material is nice but workmanship quality extremely low. Probably the biggest problem with Farmerrain is the companies inability to innovate. They use old stitch methods which are proven to fail for sportswear. I contacted the company and spoke to the owner who provided no resolution. She told me it’s my fault and refused to consider simple logic. This was a big waste of money.

If you live outside of Sweden, stay away. Think about the cost to ship the item back and unlike virtually every company worldwide who would pay for return shipping in a case like this, Farmerrain does not. It's as if they know their workmanship is low quality.
