Overcrowded, unsafe and unpleasant
Went to see Australian Pink Floyd - fantastic band and show but the Apollo is appalling. Sold far, far too many tickets, took 1 hour 20 mins to get everyone in. The band had started after 1 hour 10mins so many people were still trying to find their seats in the dark and disturbing the view of the stage constantly. Very many had been sold tickets to stand at the back, and some of them sat on the steps, both of which blocked toilet access and fire escapes. Stewards tried to move people sitting on the steps but when they refused the stewards just gave up. People allowed to leave to buy beer throughout the show and bring it in, so people constantly getting up to let people in and out to the bar and toilets. A number of people were drunk, loud and abusive and this led to quite a few people leaving in disgust just after the interval. If there was an incident or emergency there is no way that people could get out quickly. Somebody needs to take this very seriously before a disaster happens.
Rude unprofessional stewards
Saw The Holiday with live orchestra. The orchestra were amazing. However the staff and stewards ruined it. Over busy, shining torches at anyone that had their phone in their hand as apparently no recording is allowed? Also, one steward leaned over me to tell a girl off for clapping at a certain point in the film? Totally unnecessary. “Stewards” rudely barking at & commanding crowds here and there, very unprofessional! Complete over busy young untrained individuals on a power trip working at this venue. Saying that the bar staff were better. Unfortunate that such a great film accompanied by an amazing orchestra is let down by rude undertrained stewards on a power trip. Shameful!
Dangerously overcrowded , disaster waiting to happen
There’s overcrowding and packing people in so they get maximum ticket sales but this place God forbid is a another Apollo venue disaster waiting to happen , I went to the Saw Doctor Thursday night 23rd Nov , it was dangerously overcrowded with no crowd control inside just pack them in . When we left the main bar area to get into the main standing auditorium downstairs , it took 10 mins to get through the doors as the amount of people inside was sweltering and rammed like sardines . There was a lot of pushing and shoving , a lot of uncomfortable people . They sold far too many tickets like far far too many . My mate was upfront, we were at the back . He said the security up front were trying to get people to move more forward nearer the stage to relieve the crushing at the back .
Even though he said it was comfortable where he was but there wasn’t mega space available . We were on the brink of leaving but just put up with it as we wanted to the band . If there was a scare of an emergency evacuation there would have been hundreds trampled . Absolute shocking carry on . I have emailed Hammersmith and Fulham Licensing at the council to review thier CCTV. I go
to alot of live music , big venues , open air to small pubs . I don’t expect privileged treatment , I am well
used to live music crowds but this place is shameful and dangerous .
Again
Again, No Crowd Control.
I have to navigate my way through crowds to get to my Front Door.
Have to walk on the Road because of their customers taking up the pavement.
The organisation is seriously lacking Crowd Control. H&S issues here. Will be contacting the Environmental Office.
Invasion of my Privacy having these queues right outside my Windows for Hours at a time. And all the litter thrown onto the Grass outside. And the Noise and Inconvenience this all causes. Needs Dealing with. This venue shows such contempt for residents.
I’ve had better
I like this venue as it’s quite accessible and has great acoustics. I am not a fan of the staffs attitude here. The management seriously needs to address this…
Real shame, sad to knock off some stars.
Sad to knock off some stars.. the venue is stunning, iconic. The entry and bar staff were brilliant, v pleasant and super efficient. The majority of the show was fantastic, I took my 80yo mum to see Sir Cliff Richard. He and the band were amazing, such an incredible energy. Sadly, 40mins before the end of the show, approx 30+ fans decided to rush the stage.. totally blocking the view for both of us (and others). After 10-15mins, no security stepped in, and not wanting to cause a scene, we decided to leave. It was a massive disappointment after a fabulous, and what would have been a perfect, 10/10 night. Apollo needs to step up and retrain security, theatre policy should always be to keep all patrons in their designated seats at all times, no exceptions. The rabble that stormed the stage were significantly younger than my Mum; this was my mum’s 80th birthday present, she’s been following sir cliff since 20-30+ years before these super “fans” were even born. It was hugely disrespectful, selfish and inconsiderate, and it was made worse by the lack of any support from security, even after we mentioned it on the way out, their response “there’s nothing we can do”. What a total disappointment, Apollo.
We attended the Cliff Richard convert…
We attended the Cliff Richard convert on 7th November. The staff outside the theatre were really helpful and caring to all those with walking aids even to the extent of fetching chairs for us. The only downside to our enjoyment of the evening was a very bright white light projected into our eyes through most of the evening. We and many others made complaints about it but was told that the production team wanted it to stay on and refused to do anything about it. My wife had recently had a stroke and made a superhuman effort to be there and it really spoilt the evening for her.
Went to see level 42 Saturday night bar…
Went to see level 42 Saturday night bar staff soooo rude on the point of aggressive tried to get myself n friends chucked out because we were questioning the £1.50 charge on top of drinks which is just pure greed😡 plus a £3 charge to put ya coat in?? All staff were just rude and aggressive and litterally took a dislike to us for reasons we still are unaware of🤷 never ever again, oh plus no crowd control like sardines packed into a tin very dangerous tbh and the floor was on a slope so if you have any kind of disability in standing etc there's no hope for you here! Terrible venue
Terrible support after booking
I booked tickets for a concert here and the website crashed, I lost the tickets I had in the front stalls, I was put under pressure to complete purchase by timer. I ended up with seats in circle. One of the people who I bought tickets for has vertigo. I called within 24 hours to ask if I could get a refund or exchange on tickets, I was told no one could help I had to submit via email. Staff were unhelpful. Also I think the additional booking fees were very expensive. Not a good experience at all. Now I have 2 lots of tickets for the same show because we can't sit in the circle.
Love this venue
Love this venue - a proper theatre. The queue was well organised, staff efficient and pleased there's bars inside. We booked circle seats to see Royal Blood, and the only reason I've not given 5 stars is (as others have said), there was extra standing across the back near the exits which surely isn't safe.
Deserves no stars
Would actually give no stars. Selling tickets which are standing single file on fire escape stairway beside circle seats. Not on their seating plan. When questioned with security and even management - how they can sell these as seats/standing - they are unable to answer and just throw people out. Disgusting. Avoid at all costs
Accessible Access was fantastic
Accessible Access was fantastic. Attended last night with my disabled daughter. The box office helped us with tickets and we had priority access for an event that was sold out. Overall we had a very positive experience which I think is important to add reviews for, not just negative. Just make sure as a carer you get your tickets in advance.
Charging for cups is a SCAM!
I have emailed twice about this issue and I cannot get an answer - I want to know if I can bring my own plastic pint cup from last time as I am growing a mountain of them in a kitchen cupboard and do not want to pay £1 for yet another plastic cup! It’s a scam in order to make more money!! I will not be buying any beverages in the future if you are not allowed to bring in your own plastic pint cup!
No one replies to lost property…
No one replies to lost property enquiry. No phone number that lets you actually speak to someone. Only option I have now is to travel 2 hours to the venue to see if they have my item. Dreadful.
Not Accessible for Disabled Bookings
Twice may carer has tried to purchase ‘Access Requirement’ tickets but both time we were met with non replies and sent round in circles. We have been unable to book suitable tickets at all. I hope performers start moving away from this venue as it isn’t accessible and from the other reviews seems to be very unorganised.
Took my money, changed the date without informing and no refund
I bought 5 tickets for my family to see your show at the Hammersmith Apollo for 4th March. Unfortunately, after spending £145 on train tickets we found out the gig had been brought forward but we (along with 60+ people outside the venue) never received any email or post to notify us of the date change.
Eventim are now refusing to refund any money for the gig tickets, stating that we ad to ask for a refund prior to the changed date (that we were not informed about). The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced.
No Crowd Control.
No Crowd Control.
This Venue have all their customers queueing from Apollo right down to Riverside Studios. For hours most evenings. They seem to forget these are our Homes they are outside making noise and throwing litter.
We even have to walk on the roads to get home as pavements are all blocked with their customers. Unacceptable. An invasion of my privacy having all these people right outside my Windows most evenings.
We queue for an hour
We queue for an hour, then got made to queue for another because an issue with them scanning the tickets
Icy cold venue
Saw love actually in concert today. Beautiful venue and no problems with staff at all. However, the venue was ice cold. Everybody kept coats, scarves and hats on throughout performance. I had disabled seats and sitting in the cold for 3 hours made my pain flare up to new heights
Unacceptable attitude from the bouncers. I was refused admissiony because…
I was refused admission solely because the bouncers didnt like my face. UNACCEPTABLE. It was 6.30 pm we had just arrived from brighton by train and were completly sober.the bouncer at the door ( fenale) simply chose to dislike my face or appearance though i was well dressed quietly behaved and absoluttely sober! It is unacceptable. We were waiting for this evening since before the pandemic.
