well worth the money
I had bought elk bones from other vendors and was very disappointed in what I got for the money I paid. I was very pleased with the size of Elk bone I purchased from Elk USA. They were very helpful when I talked to them about the size bone I needed for my large pup. I plan on purchasing more Elk bones in the future from Elk USA!!

Good meats and good customer service.
The meats were and still are yummy! We didn't pull hunt tags for Wyoming
and this is the next best thing. The meats thawed well and cooked like I like them, rare. Ordering next year, if we don't pull tags.

Hi. I have purchased the Elk products for my dog's joints via the web site twice now and have received my packages within a day or two. I would suggest an update to your web site, it's hard to navigate and order and I almost gave up the first time. Also, would be nice to have an email sent stating that the order has been received and then that it's shipped. I didn't receive an email confirming order or shipping either time I have ordered but the product arrives quickly and has helped my German Shorthair keep running and jumping around like a much younger dog.

The meat is great; there were a few issues with my order
I ordered from them in the past and had no problems. However, there were a few issues this time. First of all, they didn't have all the cuts of buffalo meat I wanted, but never called me to fix it-they just waited for me to call them and ask why the order hadn't arrived. Second, I asked to substitute one kind of meat for another, but I still got several pounds of it. With this kind of order, you really can't do much to get it replaced (too difficult to ship a small amount of meat) so I was disappointed by that.
Otherwise, I'm happy with the quality of the meat, and everything arrived still frozen.

Thank you for your substantial order on August 26, which we fulfilled on Sept 5th . We are sorry for not meeting your expectations in every way. Your order was delayed until we knew your substitution desires and a telephone contact during the workday was not easy. As you may know, buffalo meat is currently in short supply, due simply to a shortage of animals on the farms that supply the industry. We try to keep up, but alas, we are not always successful in covering the demand at our low prices, particularly for the 1/8, or ¼ and ½ buffs, as per your order. As to the substitution, we attempted to comply, but again a shortage of available tenderloins prohibited the full substitution as requested. We hope that the quality and value of our products will entice you to use us again!

Great product, dog approved!
We order the antlers in bulk. They are good quality and our dog loves them. No sides effects. There is usually one antler from the batch that our dog does not like, but not a big deal when you get 10-15 at a time.

Good service
I get products for my fussy cats. Ground venison or elk in place of canned food, as I cannot find a canned food they will eat. They seem to get constipated with all dry food. Strictly indoor kitties so they get no meat from hunting. I usually get my own deer but not always, so glad there is a place I can purchase the wild meat.
I have 2 very spoiled kitties!

Great Value - Antlers
The antlers were a very great value and were huge. Unfortunately, my dog isn't as big of a fan of elk antlers as I thought. I can't knock a star off for that though because neighbor's dog goes absolutely nuts for them. I would just recommend making sure that your dog will chew on antlers for a long time before making a large purchase. I will say that the price is so low on the website it would be easy to resell them and make my money back.

I'll be back!
Their products are very good. I have 5 dogs, and these antlers will keep them busy for a while. Why pay for cheap stuff...that's not really good for them...constantly? I had an issue that needed taken care of, and customer service was very nice, and did exactly what she said they would. Getting ready to look for Christmas presents soon.

Meat was tough and not cured properly
Any meat, including Elk will be tough, if it is not cured properly. The meat needs to cure for at least 10 days at 40 degrees F. This allows the collagen to breakdown and the meat to become tender. The Elk meat was very tough, even after in a pressure cooker for 2 hours.

Patricia: We are sorry you had a poor experience with the Elk Short ribs you had purchased from us. On Elk, some of the lesser cost, peripheral meats such as skirts, ribs, and shanks are hi-cartilage items, sometimes quite difficult to gauge the proper cooking time. Further, unlike beef, elk have very little interstitial fat, making the meat very low in fat, but elk can get unforgivably tough, when over cooked. Elk ribs are best when cooked very slowly for a long time at low heat.
Your explanation in terms of aging the meat is predominately correct. However, we do not age elk for the classical 10 days like many wild elk are done. Most wild shot elk are older, tougher males, while most of our harvested elk are younger females. Our aging process is governed by the higher-end meat cuts, so as not to over-age and diminish the quality and quantity of the loins, rump and shoulders. In our aging system, developed over the last 18 years, animals are hung (cooler-aged) for about 4 days, cut and packaged for another one day of aging in the package before freezing. Once frozen, the meat can be stored for months. For the lesser grade cuts, we generally recommend the frozen meat not go directly to the cooking stage, but are best to be allowed to slowly thaw in the refrigerator for 3 or 4 days providing additional aging. Further, the time and temperature of boiling, or in your case, pressure cooking must be done lower and slower than beef.
