I've been training BJJ for three years but my little brother, who lives five minutes away from this gym has been thinking about doing a trial class for years, but not quite pulled the trigger. I was in town so decided to check it out for him.

Eddie's name popped up through previous coaches who spoke highly about him, so I was keen to see what the gym was like. In short, I've already decided it's my new London gym to train at when I'm visiting my family!

Eddie teaches with a slightly different style from what I'm used to, but I really enjoyed it, and the level of detail in his technique was really exciting to experience; I got so much out of one session, and EK even made time to have a roll with an old man blue belt after the class. Really nice touch. Suffice to say I'll be in my brother's ear about getting down for a trial class, but I'll hopefully be able to find the time and money to drop in again when I'm in town. Highly recommended if you're looking for a place to train BJJ.

Sensei Tic is brilliant with the kids, and the perfect mix of firm but fair, and with a good sense of humour too. They’re always learning something new, but also going over the same moves to ensure they are solid.
The space is light and clean with all of the facilities you need, and the classes are fun to watch as a parent.

BJJ has been on my radar for years and I had put off joining a club due to injuries and if I'm honest the thought of being in uncompromising situations with another sweaty person.....oh and being in my 40's.
From day one I was made to feel welcome, everyone is just so nice with a real community feeling. Eddie is amazing how he breaks down each move focusing on understanding the basics. Coming to the classes have become a real highlight of my week, i just regret not joining when I was younger!

From the moment you walk in you notice that the place screams heritage and legacy. Great instruction directly from the source. Clean facilities and highly qualified and friendly staff. A great place to learn martial arts whether for adults or children.

Self defense from a reliable and tested source - Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Curriculum/book with moves from white belt to black. Environment of learning, camaraderie, and friendships. Variety of classes - striking, no GI, Gracie self defense, beginners, and private ones as well. This place will not only teach you jiu jitsu but also help you become a better person.

It can feel a bit tricky starting a new hobby in your 30's, but there inclusive vibe at this gym made it super easy.

The teaching looks backwards to the rich history of the past but doesn't shy away from the ever evolving sport of ju jitzu today.

Joining the Eddie Kone Academy of Jiu-Jitsu ("EK BJJ") has been a truly transformative experience as someone who has faced personal challenges, such as learning difficulties and multiple complex disabilities; finding a supportive and accommodating environment has been crucial. Words cannot express my gratitude for the positive impact that joining EK BJJ has had on my life; it takes me an hour to get to this place despite having many other well-renowned jujitsu establishments close to me. I can only speak from personal experience when I say that my first free lesson was all it took to convince me, and I haven't looked back since. It was indeed one of the best decisions I have ever made.

If you want to learn real Gracie Jiu Jitsu in London, you won’t find anywhere better than Professor Eddie Kone’s academy. Eddie was taught by Master Helio himself and still today maintains a style that focuses on effective self defence, and real- world application, rather than sport and flashy technique.

The atmosphere at the academy is second to none, everyone that trains there feels that they are a part of something bigger, and support each others growth, regardless of rank and experience.

I just hope I never have to leave Walthamstow and train somewhere else, as places like this are a rare find!

Eddie Kone is one of the few originals left. He got his training direct from the source. If you walk into the academy, you will be greeted by photos of professor Eddie kone with the grandmaster gracie himself in Brazil when he was much younger. This is the one thing that EKBJJ has over most academies. The safety practices and camaraderie is also top notch with modern digital tools provided to students to aid them on their journey.

One of the best places to train, gain confidence and learn the classic art of jiu-jitsu. It is a very welcoming and family oriented academy.

This Academy is an amazing place to learn authentic Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. The environment is friendly and welcoming and the instruction, led by Professor Eddie Kone, is clear, concise and easy to follow. Questions are welcomed from newcomers and experienced students alike, while aggression is not tolerated.

The classes are well structured and the Professor is assisted by a team of talented and highly experienced black belts. Everybody is friendly and approachable; higher belts go out of their way to make new students feel included as part of the class. The environment is clean, safe and easily accessible.

There is an unequivocal focus on education - mistakes are corrected without embarrassing novices and I never feel overwhelmed by the pace of learning.

I would strongly recommend this Academy. I joined to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and while I'm happy with my progress to date, I realise I am also being taught patience, resilience and awareness. This place really makes you feel like you're a part of something much bigger. I hope it never changes - it really does feel like a home away from home.

They are very attentive and diligent. I enjoy the fact that everything is rooted in practical self defence strategies.

Eddie is a brilliant trainer, with a vast knowledge of BJJ, extremely helpful and extremely passionate in his teaching of BJJ
