India tariff feeling hopeful
I didn’t come into this as a whisky investor. I’ve always had an interest in Scotch, partly because in Indian families it’s one of those drinks that always seems to come out at weddings, business dinners, birthdays, all of that. So the interest was already there, but owning a cask was a new idea for me.
What actually got me over the line was ECR explaining the India tariff reductions. I’d seen the headlines, but I hadn’t really thought about what lower tariffs could mean for Scotch demand over the next few years. I dealt with Jordan who didn’t make it sound like some overnight boom, which I liked. It was more, “this is one reason the market could have more room to grow,” and that made sense to me.
I had abit of back and forth with him because I didn’t want to buy something I only half understood. The paperwork takes a minute to get your head around, but once he explained the storage, ownership side and how the documents work, I felt much more comftable.
It’s the first time someone connected the whisky itself, the India market, and the cask side in a way that felt practical. That’s why I went ahead.
Feeling great and looking forward to seeing how we grow together over the years to come.
