Wonderful Bwindi Gorilla trekking trip
I had a wonderful trip to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to trek Gorillas. Patrick was very responsive and quickly answered all my questions. Even though I was very last minute, he could arrange the entire trip (this might also be because of low season). Allan my driver was amazing! He was very kind and a skilled driver (necessary with Ugandan traffic and roads). He also explained a lot about the country, the gorillas and the birds. On the way back he pointed out all the birds! (For a birdwatcher this is splendid!). We also had nice conversations about many different topics. As a solo female traveler, I felt absolutely safe and taken care of.
We also stayed in a wonderful lodge (Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge), also highly recommended.
When I come back, I will definitely arrange my trips through eco adventure Safaris (and ask for Allan).
Bucket List Item Accomplished!
I actually did 2 gorilla tours with this company (eastern lowland gorillas in Congo and mountain gorillas in Uganda). My base was Kigali, Rwanda. On the first day we drove to the DRC (Congo). I was quite surprised that this company offers tours in the Congo. I had read about the eastern lowland gorilla, which is almost as endangered as the mountain gorilla. The company handled all the difficult paperwork involved in obtaining a Congo visa. I have to say the first day was hard as my country strongly recommends not visiting this country. The border crossing was chaotic to say the least. Only French and their version of Swahili spoken. I had always wanted to see the Congo and I decided the risk was worth the reward. The hotel was magnificent on the shores of Lake Kivu. The Kahuzi-Biega National Park is a treasure! I was the only white person there. The leader of our group had been there 27 years and knew most of the gorillas personally. The group leader gave me individual attention and since I was solo he took pictures of me with the group of gorillas. The male silverback was 20 years old and a giant (this is the largest species of gorillas in the world). He weighed 200KG (440 Pounds). His size was intimidating but in no time at all you could tell he was a completely gentle giant. These animals are smart enough to recognize human faces and they use tools. Our leader knew this male gorilla since the day he was born. So the 200KG animal was completely docile and chill. He rolled over on his back exposing his belly at one point, which is an indication of complete trust. He had a newborn male as well as slightly older twin males (twins are exceptionally rare). We were so close to all these animals without any obstructions. The photos look like they were taken by high powered lenses but they weren't. Anyway, this experience in the Congo was the highlight of my trip. Even though it was hard, I'm so glad I risked it. I could not have done it without the assistance of my driver Patrick. On the way out of Congo the customs agent asked my nationality. I said USA. He asked again and I said USA. Then he looked at me with a puzzled expression and asked "America"? I said yes. It is just so unusual, and he was astounded. The second trip was to Biwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda. The border crossings were all a piece of cake compared to the Congo. In Uganda they know how much tourist money we bring in and they treat visitors like royalty. Uganda was easily the most beautiful country I've ever seen. The region near Biwindi is all vertical. Farmers have their cows and sheep foraging on cliffs. The people are used to the steep terrain and are masters. Me, not so much! The hotel was individual cabins. I had the cabin completely to myself and it is isolated from the others. You sit on a front porch looking down on Biwindi and the forest below you contains 50% of the mountain gorillas in the world. You can hear the water from the distant river. At night you hear the soothing sound of frogs and insects. In the morning you hear the delightful sound of birds. The food and service were excellent. The mountain gorilla trek was hard. It was steep and muddy. I highly recommend hiring a porter for $20 (my porter worked so hard to keep me on my feet I gave him $40). I at first said no, but I am so glad I changed my mind. Everyone slipped on the steep muddy slope. The porter carries your bag and sometimes carries you. I fell twice, one time taking the porter with me, but I was uninjured. These gorillas were at a greater distance, and there were plenty of trees and bushes in the way, but still an amazing experience. I'm glad I did both tours but the highlight was the Congo for me. I'm so grateful to Patrick, my driver (who saved me more times than I can count). He was so experienced with the pitfalls including corrupt Congo police officers! Patrick (a second Patrick in the office) was so efficient in emails getting all the paperwork completed and keeping me up to date. I highly recommend this company. You can do the Congo like I did, and it will be a trip of a lifetime. Bucket list item crossed off!
Great safari and tour across Uganda and Rwanda
We did the 12 days-safari and apes trekking across Uganda and Rwanda during Christmas and NY's time 2023-2024. Our trip was fully customized and designed for our needs and travel tastes from the very beginning. The communication with Patrick, the manager, was super fluid and I always got quick responses from his side.
The driver and guide, Alex, was a great companion during the whole trip. He made our trip unforgettable. He provided us with interesting information about Ugandan & Rwandan culture, their people and wildlife. He was always taking care of all the family and pending on how to make our trip even more comfortable and entertaining. Additionally, he was always open to our requests. As for the truck/car, this was comfortable, with plenty of space for the four of us.
We opted for the most economic options of hotels and most of them met our expectations. They are all eco-lodges and use renewable energies to power the installations and local ingredients for preparing the meals. I'd like to give a special mention to the Kasenyi Safari Camp, where we had a super pleasant stay. Perhaps, the only suggestion for some of the lodges is that they should have a wider variety of alcoholic beverages.
I would definitely recommend Eco Adventure Safaris and Alex as guide. Uganda and Rwanda have a lot to discover.
Gorillas in DRC
Patrick from Eco Adventure Safaris did a great job in booking and planning a visit to DRC Kahuzi Biega NP. My arrival was via Kigali, Rwanda, and I transferred by road to Bukavu. The driver guide, also Patrick, did an outstanding job with all involved at the border and throughout the 5 day visit to DRC. This company gave me confidence to go ahead with the travel, when it was almost impossible to arrange a Visa by other means. Anyone considering travelling with Eco Adventure Safaris will be in good hands!
Custom Chimpanzee Trekking Tour (4 days, 2 persons)
We had a wonderful experience with Eco Adventure Safari. The trip was coordinated by Patrick, who always answered back super quick and was able to fulfil all our wishes. He was able to arrange pick-up in Kigali, Rwanda, by our guide Martin. From there we drove to Queen Elizabeth National Park, stayed there for a night in a fantastic hotel, then had a game drive and boat tour, then moved on to Kibale Forest National Park for a 2 night stay. There we had the chimp trekking and a village tour. From there we Martin took us to our hotel in Entebbe. The whole trip took place in early November, aka the small rainy season. We were generally lucky with the weather, but in any case it’s a great time to visit as everything is green.
All the accommodation in this trip was simply excellent, Martin was a very knowledgeable guide and great driver. We had a great time on this trip, they accommodated all of our wishes (like seeing the tea fields, getting a Ugandan sim card, …) and Martin was fun to be around. Would definitely recommend, value-for-money is great.
Experience with ecotours was wonderful

Thank you Eco tours for a lifetime experience.

Incredible 5-day tour!
I just finished a 5-day gorilla and chimpanzee trekking tour with Eco Adventure Safaris, and loved every minute of it! My guide, Alex, was very professional and knowledgeable, and Patrick, who I booked the tour with, was very helpful and timely in his responses to my questions. I'd highly recommend this tour to anyone planning a trip to Uganda!
Great company for doing a gorilla trek
We booked a short gorilla trek with Eco Adventures in Uganda (with pick up in Rwanda). Patrick was very responsive and and communicated very clearly which made the whole experience relaxed and easy. Our guide, Godfrey, was very attentive, knowledgeable and really prioritized the highest quality service. The vehicle was great, the hotel they arranged was great and we had a great time
Amazing gorillas experience
Eco Adventure Safaris made a great job! They were flexible with all our wishes and ideas. Excellent communication and very quick respond. Our holidays were perfect. Everything planed very well. Our guide was a great, kind and friendly man. Uganda and Rwanda are beautiful countries with breathtaking nature. We have unforgettable memories and amazing experience with gorillas. I hope, one day, we can come back.
Professional and great communication
Professional and great communication. I did a 2 day tour in Burundi.
They were already flexible in dropping me off in a different place
Amazing Tour by Eco Adventures Safaris…
Amazing Tour by Eco Adventures Safaris and our Amazing guide Elias! Patrick was very accommodating in the booking process, answering all my questions & concerns, making it seem effortless! If you want the Best Gorilla / Chimpanzee treks, definitely book with Eco Adventures! Elias was an Awesome guide, friendly, knowledgeable, fun, & professional! He told us about Uganda, its history, as well as the history of the surrounding countries! He taught us about & identified the various plants, trees, birds, animals etc. we saw along our journey!
He introduced us to Ugandan food, serving us lunch at a traditional restaurant! He made the drives over bumpy, unpaved, roads seem like nothing! He’s definitely the best driver as well as guide!! The lodges were beautiful, built on the sides of mountain terraces with the most incredible views and impeccable service! I highly recommend adding on the boat ride to see the hippos, elephants, & other animals!! The gorilla treks are all different hikes depending on your ability & family following! Prior to starting, the village people do a dance & welcome ceremony with local music & singing! We hiked ~ 1 1/2 hrs through beautiful jungle with the best local guides Ronald, Robert, & Jane and it was worth it! There are no words to describe Spending time with the gorillas in their natural habitat, magical! Make sure you take gloves & rain jacket, very happy we had brought them! Milka was our local guide for the chimpanzee trek & was amazing at making sure we got the best views of them! Chimpanzee trek was much easier & faster than the gorilla one, it was flat land trails!
The entire 6 day experience was out of this world and once in a lifetime!! A must do and a must do with Eco Adventures as your tour company & Elias as your guide! We can’t recommend it enough, they made it a perfect trip and perfect experience!!
I am a frequent traveler
I am a frequent traveler, but 1st time traveling to East Africa. I booked eight-day trips covering Kenya - Nairobi & Masai Mara, Burundi, DR Congo - Gorilla Trekking, Rwanda, and Uganda—a solo trip covering five countries in 8 days. Patrick, who organized my trip at Eco Adventure, was very good at answering my questions and accommodating my requests whenever I requested. Tour guides Mr. Moses at Nairobi, and Mr. Alfred at Masai Mara were also excellent. They made me feel comfortable and safe. The best part of my trip was Mr. Patrick( Tour guide), with whom I was for four days from Bujumbura, Burundi, Bukavu - DR Congo, Rwanda, and Uganda all on the road. He was an excellent driver and experienced tour guide. He made me feel safe, especially while traveling in Burundi and Congo. Overall, it was a flawless trip, and I would recommend the Eco safari adventure to my friends and family. Thank you for making it a memorable trip.
The gorilla trekking with Eco Adventure…
The gorilla trekking with Eco Adventure safari was awesome, specially with our wonderful driver Abdul! We got to see a family of gorillas just close to us, and amazing experience.
It was all very well organized, we depart Kigali one day before, slept at the beautiful Rushaga Gorillas Heaven Lodge, and the day after went for the trekking!
Thank you so much Patrick and Abdul
Fantastic!
I had an incredible experience with Eco Adventure Safari! The service was absolutely fantastic, and I couldn't have asked for a better guide than Abdul. He was not only knowledgeable but also a great host throughout the entire adventure. I highly recommend Eco Adventure Safari, and I can't wait to go on another tour with them. Thanks for an amazing experience!
16 Days Uganda -> Chimpanzee | Mt. Stanley | Gorillas
The whole trip was perfectly organized by EcoAdventures, starting and ending at Entebbe airport. Also, a big thank you to Patrick, who always answered very quickly and helped in problematic situations!
About the trip itself, I can say that visiting the chimpanzees and gorillas is a great experience that I can recommend to everyone. If you have to choose, I recommend the gorillas ;-)
We also climbed Margherita Peak on Mt. Stanley. The rainy season started a bit earlier than expected this year, so it rained every day, which sometimes eats away at motivation. I recommend doing this climb in 10 days so you have enough time to acclimate and climb a few more peaks.
Below are some points to know:
- once you have the visa, you must enter Uganda within 3 months, otherwise the visa will be cancelled
- more information about the tips for climbing Rwenzori (porters, guides) and especially how many porters will help you
All the best for you
Patrick and Ronnie made this an utterly amazing adventure of a lifetime
Great communication from Patrick when we were planning our trip to Rwanda , Congo and Uganda.
Our guides and drivers Patrick and Ronnie were knowledgeable, friendly and fantastic drivers in all kinds of conditions.
Most of our tour was spent with Patrick who seemed to be a friend to everyone he came across and he was able to pull a few strings for us, going out of his way to make everything perfect.
Patrick accompanied us to the Congo for Gorilla trekking. I was apprehensive about going through border control but Patrick was confident and in control. The 24 hours in the Congo was quite an experience, it is one of the poorest countries in the world and that is very obvious. The encounter with the gorillas was breathtaking and made all the more special by the fact we were the only two on the trek that day. It is less expensive to see the gorillas in the Congo than in other places but the experience was priceless.
The sights and sounds of Africa will be etched on my memory forever and I cannot rate this company highly enough,
If you want a tailor made adventure of a lifetime then look no further than Eco Adventure safaris.
Friendly safe & efficient service helped make a truly memorable trip
Just returned from an 11 day trip starting in Kigali and visiting multiple national parks in Rwanda, DRC & Uganda to end in Entebbe. Patrick at Eco Adventure Safaris was exceptionally helpful in tailoring a specific itinerary for us and the second Patrick our driver was not only knowledgeable and friendly but also seems to know almost everyone across the region and helped make us feel safe and well looked after. We had like many before been a bit wary of travel into DRC but Patrick ensured everything went smoothly (including 'tipping' one of the border police!) There is no doubt the DRC is very obviously poorer than Rwanda or Uganda, traffic is even more chaotic, tourist infrastructure less developed and it feels a bit more 'edgy' but in the 24hrs we were there I never felt unsafe. Given we went to see gorillas at Kahuzi Biega and ended up having a private tour for just the 2 of us with a group of 5 rangers/ trackers and 4 gorillas this was truly a once in a lifetime experience and I cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone considering visiting.
We switched drivers for a few days while Patrick revisited DRC with another client, and Ronnie was equally as good, friendly and knowledgeable.
As well as the gorillas we also had close encounters with a large group of chimps at Kibale and many lions, leopards, hippos, crocs, elephants, giraffes and monkeys plus a hyena and numerous antelopes and birds within Nyungwe, QE and Murchison Falls.
Overall a truly incredible trip all made possible and even more special thanks to the staff of Eco Adventure Safaris who I honestly cannot fault or recommend more highly.
Personalized service
Personalized service! Great response time and an amazing time out to see Gorillas and Queen Elizabeth Park
Memorable quality service
Eco adventure safaris, a very highly service-minded professional company, specifically Patrick is very quick to respond to all enquiries both on e-mails and voicecalls as well as WhatsApp.
Though I made orders from abroad and paid upfront in dollars 6 months before my arrival they always reassured me of my booking and great cancellation policy.
I was so surpirised that phones are attended to 24/7 with notable smiles in the voices you hear, which really saved my family's start of holidays as we arrived to our destination in the night and lost direction in the forest but was safely guided by Patrick and rest of Eco Adventure crew to the door. The destination in Kibale national park was in a lovely cottage far beyond our expectation as we expected a tent camping in litteral sense but this was a kind of five star camp place with extremely comfortable beds and quality bathrooms. We even got room service free of charge. Meals were on time and staff were very kind and chatty and they always shared contagious smiles that made one feel so welcome and at home.
Eco adventure Safaris made this possible for us. It is a very trustworthy company indeed. Highly recommended for any Safari tours in Uganda. I'll definitely book more of my safari tours thru them in future.
Golden Monkey & Gorilla trekking
Fantastic and highly recommended tour company. Patrick and Abdul my driver were organized, friendly and made my trip very memorable. I did a city tour of Rwanda, Golden Monkey & gorilla trekking.
