Saved my sanity

I had so much debt that I was drowning in it, debt guardians talked me through everything and we formulated a plan, they helped guide me through the complicated process of getting a IVA!

Great experience

I was dubious about seeking help but…

I was dubious about seeking help but accepted the phone call and immediately they put me at ease and have been a pleasure to talk to very calming, fast responses and puts the client first above all else. The representative I dealt with was amazing and honest

Harassment

Harassment, unprofessionalism, and serious red flags.

I reached out to Debt Guardians out of desperation, as I’m really struggling financially and trying to keep up with my debts. I deeply regret ever making that inquiry. From the moment I submitted it, I was bombarded with nonstop calls and texts. The first few times they called, I was at work and couldn’t answer. When I tried calling them back, no one picked up. On one occasion, someone answered and said someone would call me back, of course, no one ever did.

What really shocked me was when someone tried to contact me on WhatsApp. That immediately raised huge red flags. What kind of legitimate financial service uses WhatsApp to contact vulnerable clients? It felt completely unprofessional and honestly, quite creepy. That’s when I started to get suspicious and decided to look them up.

What I found was disturbing. It appears they’re operating out of a call center, and the photo of their office looks more like a rundown factory. They have a reputation for manipulating and taking advantage of people who are already in financial distress. The reviews I read confirmed everything I feared, this company preys on the vulnerable. I feel incredibly lucky that I didn’t get sucked in any further. I will never make the mistake of contacting a company like this again without doing proper research.

To Debt Guardians: REMOVE my personal information from your system immediately. If you contact me again, I will report you to the relevant authorities without hesitation.

We are sorry that your experience with our company has not been a positive one. However, I would like to address some of the points raised.


Use of WhatsApp
I see from one of the text messages you sent us that there was a misunderstanding regarding our offer to have a conversation over WhatsApp. Like many other financial and business organisations, we use a secure, text-only WhatsApp platform for communication with clients. It is not possible to make phone calls through this system. Many of the people we help feel more comfortable having an initial text-based conversation via WhatsApp.

Our Offices
We are situated in the Coppell Business Centre, a converted mill housing several businesses. While the exterior may not be the most visually appealing, the interior provides a comfortable and professional environment.

Call Centre
We are certainly not operating out of what could be described as a call centre. We are a small company, and our team only reaches out to individuals who have submitted an enquiry on our website. Unfortunately, we have been short-staffed this week due to illness and annual leave coinciding with the school holidays. We apologise if your call was not correctly answered when you phoned in.

Harassment
I have reviewed the text conversation with my colleague Debbie, in which she was explaining the difficulties she had in connecting to your phone. I also see the messages you sent us, repeatedly requesting a call.

Debbie’s final outbound message was: "I have tried ringing you several times but can’t get through. If it’s easier, we can chat via WhatsApp, or you can ring me directly on the number I texted to you earlier."

There were no further attempts to contact you.

We sincerely apologise for what appears to have been a telecommunications failure and a misunderstanding regarding our use of WhatsApp.

I'll review the language we use when inviting a client to use this platform.

I'm sorry we didn't get the chance to speak to you, but hope you find a suitable solution, I wish you the best for the future.

Debt Guardians saved us !!!

Debt Guardians haven helped us in a time of need. Our case was very complex and have been rejected by others before. Debbie and Neil have manged to find the wright solutions for us and persevierd till the end to make sure our IVA gets accepted.
To be able to breathe again after a long and stressful period is an amazing feeling and it's all thank to this amazing team.

Strongly recommend.

We can’t thank Debt Guardians enough for their support in helping us implement our IVA. From the very beginning, they were brilliant—understanding our worries, explaining every step clearly, and guiding us through what was a very tricky situation.

Their professionalism and empathy made all the difference. Special thanks to Debbie and Neil, who were incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and supportive throughout the entire process. We truly felt heard and reassured during every conversation.

If you're struggling and need a way forward, we wholeheartedly recommend Debt Guardians. Their service is outstanding.

Bad experience

If you are a small, family-owned business, then you should understand how important it is to know what your staff and management are doing. I was contacted through WhatsApp and mobile phone, and I’m wondering how you can record your calls. Additionally, how can you ask me to lie about my situation? How can you claim that you are not a rogue company?

I suffer from anxiety and trust issues, and it took a lot of courage for me to reach out and ask for financial help. You have completely broken my trust.

If it weren’t for StepChange, I would have ended up going into an IVA for five years, which could have led to a dreadful situation. StepChange helped me find the right option, and they don’t charge fees because they are a charity. StepChange and the FCA are looking into what happened to me, and they have assured me that they will ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

You should be ashamed of making money off people like me. How can you sleep at night after making money off people like me? Please do not contact me again, as StepChange and the FCA are dealing with this on my behalf.
