Avoid Crown Tour if you are expecting a properly organised and professional Colosseum tour experience.
We travelled halfway across the world to Rome and booked this tour on our final day, expecting it to be one of the highlights of our trip. Instead, it became one of the worst and most frustrating experiences of our entire holiday.
The level of disorganisation was unbelievable from the very beginning. Crown Tour placed us in the wrong tour group, and we only found out when we were denied entry into the Colosseum because the guide did not have our tickets. We were then forced to walk all the way back to their office, wasting another 20 minutes in the middle of the crowd and heat.
What made this even more ridiculous was their excuse that they “could not reach us.” This was completely untrue and unacceptable considering they had been communicating with us via WhatsApp before the tour. Not a single attempt was made to contact us there when THEIR mistake was discovered.
The meeting instructions were equally useless. We were told to look for someone in a pink jacket in one of the busiest tourist areas in the world. No flag, no sign, no proper coordination. Just chaos and confusion.
The biggest issue, however, was the so-called “Arena access” that we paid premium pricing for. We paid US$115 per person expecting a meaningful experience inside one of the world’s most iconic landmarks. Instead, we were rushed through the Arena area in barely 3–5 minutes before the guide aggressively pushed everyone to leave. We hardly had time to take photos, let alone appreciate the Colosseum properly.
It honestly felt like a tourist trap designed to move people through as quickly as possible after taking their money.
To make matters worse, the guide was rude, impatient, and unprofessional throughout the tour. At the end, we were simply told to hand back the audio devices before being abandoned on our own.
For US$345, this experience was disgraceful and absolutely not worth the money. Crown Tour completely ruined what should have been one of the most memorable parts of our Rome trip.
Save your money and book with a more professional company.

Very poor communication and customer service. Knew we were going to be right on time due to prior commitment. Contacted customer service to reschedule and was advised no. Arrived right on time to Sagrada Família. Construction everywhere. Meeting place is park. There are 2 parks. Called customer service and was told to meet by pond at park by main entrance. Went to park and could not find entrance. Rep dropped a pin and sent for meeting place and hung up. Wrong park. It was by the group entrance. Found a rep at the very very crowded park. She advised too late but there were openings for the next tour in 15 mins but it would be 69 euro additional each. I told her no and terrible directions. They should have allowed us to join the next group. Very bad communication. Other groups have a pin drop and electronic vouchers and much better communication. Could have been better in many ways.

Wir buchten eine Tour für den Markus Dom.
Diese war für 12.00 vorgesehen. Vor Ort hat man uns dann erzählt unsere Tour wäre auf 11.00 vorverlegt. Am Montag Abend ging eine Mitteilung raus. Crowntours buchte unsere Tour auf 11.00 um ohne Rückfrage. Es war dann keine andere Buchung für diesen Tag möglich.😡

Remboursement jamais reçu malgré plusieurs confirmation

J’ai réservé une croisière sur la Seine via Groupon auprès de Crown Tours en février.

La prestation a été annulée par le prestataire, et malgré plusieurs emails de leur part confirmant un remboursement, je n’ai jamais reçu les 30€ à ce jour.

Le service client est difficile à joindre et peu professionnel (appel sans identification, aucune réponse claire).

Je suis actuellement obligée de lancer une procédure auprès de ma banque pour récupérer mon argent.

Expérience très décevante, je ne recommande pas.

This tour was phenomenal! We were blessed to have Ksenia as our guide today as she was so knowledgeable, entertaining and paced the tour so well. We visited the Colosseum and Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. Tour took approx 3 hours. Best 3 hours you could spend!!

It was a very pleasant experience, with lots of historical information. Tara, our guide, managed to convey her passion for the Colosseum through historical details that opened our imagination. Superb, Tara! Congratulations and thank you!

Excellent guide. Interesting information and delivered at right speed so could follow easily. English was clear and answered all questions asked helpfully. Better than expected. 12 in small group helped move through crowds of larger groups

We spent just over two hours with Tara. A very knowledgeable guide who showed us many interesting sights and painted pictures of how the places were like during their golden Days. She was easy to understand, we went with the English tour.
