I registered on the website as self-employed, and had to provide my card details for what I assumed was the actual DBS, it was, in fact, a registration fee, when the website states you need to 'register for a free account', so I was already £45 out of pocket with nothing to show for it. It also turns out that this company do not even verify the DBS documents themselves, and you have to provide details of someone to verify your DBS documents - now as a self employed person, I do not have anyone to do this for me (as it has to be someone outside of friends and family). The DBS would have then cost an additional fee, and the £45 was nonrefundable. (It's also important to note that I used a different company, who were cheaper, who then verified the documents themselves/in-house which was expected and the normal way of doing things, that CRB do not)
Would not recommend as all of these fees are not made clear on the website and customer service just direct you to their T&C's that again, weren't clear at the time of payment/registration.

As a sole trader thinking I required an enhanced DBS check I found the process confusing, and I made an error when signing up. However, the help I received from Stephen in the Support Team was prompt, thoughtful and considerate. Setting up a business is a complicated and daunting endeavor and CRB have helped to make this part of the process smooth and straight forward. I have had several questions during the process and they have all been answered promptly and accurately by the team, specifically by Ross, who talked me through the ID verification process and enabled me to set up ID verifiers in a professional and swift manner.
