The engineers seemed competent and keen to do a good job. There was a problem with scheduling the second appointment - I received an email confirming one date but no one arrived. However, I would still use CompFixAid again in the future.

Misleading and unfair review – take with caution
I’ve seen the recent review about the ASUS TUF FX504, and I feel it’s important to add context. Having used CompFixAid myself, I can say much of what’s claimed in that review is misleading and omits critical facts.
The team at CompFixAid were transparent from the start about the difficulties of sourcing parts for older or discontinued laptops, including overseas orders and extended lead times. They communicated every step, explained delays clearly, and went above and beyond by offering additional repairs at their own cost — none of which the original reviewer acknowledges.
Labour and work were completed on schedule, and updates were provided professionally. The portrayal in that review of poor communication, incorrect diagnosis, and lack of transparency is simply false. The original review ignores that the customer returned their device prematurely and failed to respond to multiple follow-ups from CompFixAid.
In short, the review is dishonest, incomplete, and should not be treated as a genuine reflection of the service. Anyone considering CompFixAid should judge them on full facts, not this unfair and misleading account.

I used CompFixAid for a hinge issue on…

I used CompFixAid for a hinge issue on my ASUS TUF FX504 and the experience was not satisfactory.

The initial diagnosis was incorrect, as the root cause (rear lid damage) was not properly identified. As a result, the process did not resolve the actual problem.

Communication could have been better. Updates were often only provided after chasing, and timelines given were not followed. I was advised parts would be checked within a specific timeframe, but no meaningful follow-up was provided.

A replacement palm rest was fitted with a different keyboard layout without clear prior explanation, resulting in incorrect key labelling (two “Y” keys and no “Z”), which shows a lack of attention to detail.

I was quoted £214 for the repair and, after declining, was informed of a £60 collection fee. Despite paying around £180 overall, the original structural issue remained unresolved, and I ultimately had to source the correct part myself.

Overall, the service lacked accurate diagnosis, transparency, and effective resolution. I would recommend confirming all details, costs, and expected outcomes in writing before proceeding.

Update (after company response):
The outcome remains unchanged. Despite the work carried out, the original hinge/structural issue was not resolved.
The initial diagnosis failed to identify the actual root cause (rear lid damage), resulting in work being completed that did not fix the problem.
The process took over one month, during which I was without my laptop, yet no effective resolution was achieved.
I paid £184 (Invoice #299892), and ultimately had to source the correct part independently to resolve the issue.
While additional explanations and follow-up offers were mentioned, they do not change the final outcome: the issue remained unresolved after the service provided.

We take all feedback seriously; however, your review presents a version of events that omits key facts and cannot be considered a fair or accurate reflection of the service provided.
From the outset, we were transparent about the condition of your device and the challenges of repairing an older, discontinued model with limited parts availability. You were clearly informed that certain components — including the palm rest — would need to be sourced from overseas, impacting timelines. This was acknowledged at the point of order, and all labour was completed within our standard timeframes.
When the engineer returned your device, you raised concerns about the cosmetic appearance of the replacement part. It was explained in person that exact matches are not always possible due to part scarcity. You requested a fully black component, which we noted and acted upon.
We then went further by offering to source and replace the hinge assembly and rear lid, absorbing additional costs as a goodwill gesture. We were prepared to order the parts, collect and return your device once available, while you continued using it in the meantime. This was confirmed in writing, but you chose not to respond and instead left a negative review, which does not reflect the full experience or the effort made on your behalf.
It is also important to note that your device was returned earlier than planned at your request, as you were unwilling to wait an additional 2–3 days for a part that was available, which would have allowed us to progress the repair further.
For full transparency, we provided video and photographic evidence showing that both the CPU and GPU fans were heavily clogged with dust and debris. We advised on the risks and offered a reduced-cost clean, which you declined. To suggest a lack of transparency is therefore inaccurate.
You also state the process “took over one month” without acknowledging that this was due to internationally sourced parts, which was clearly communicated. All labour remained within standard timeframes.
Regarding the keyboard, prior notice was provided via both email and WhatsApp about the UK layout replacement. As explained, parts for this model are limited due to its discontinued status.
It is also important to correct your statement regarding the £60 charge — this was not a collection fee, but part of our standard call-out/handling and diagnostic process when work is declined, which was clearly communicated.

For under £185, we completed:

Palm rest replacement (UK layout, pre-communicated)
Hinge repair
Full labour and servicing
Collection and return outside normal hours within a strict 15-minute window you requested.

We have made attempts to contact you, including a recent follow-up, all of which have gone unanswered.
We welcome honest feedback; however, omitting key facts and repeatedly revising the review while maintaining an incomplete account is misleading. Readers should take this into consideration.
We remain open to resolving this matter and honouring the previously offered solutions should you wish to engage constructively.

Failed Service and Wasted Time

They claimed to be able to turn around a simple printer repair in 48 hours. In the end they kept it away from us for more than 2 weeks and had to keep being asked for progress report. Then they told us the print head could have been repaired under warranty -- for free. They did not even mention that at the beginning. Disgraceful really. £90 wasted.

Thank you for your feedback about your recent experience regarding your Canon Maxify GX6050.

Have checked the work order and can see that you reported the machine displayed error code “1434”, print head needs repair.

We offer 48hours diagnosis under normal circumstances, but due to the disassembly process of your printer these jobs can take a while longer. Notifications were sent out via email and WhatsApp to keep you updated during the service.

The printer was dissembled and serviced along with the print head (approx. time 3-4 hours) which was manually cleaned and realigned. Upon reassembly the machine reported error "7700" which confirmed the print head was faulty.

If we had been made aware of the printer being under warranty prior to collection, we would have obviously recommended you contact seller to see if they offered replacement or repair.
As it was the service, we completed confirmed the printhead was faulty which in turn entitled you to a brand new replacement from Amazon.

We apologise if you feel the fee charged for this including collection and return to your door was unfair, we shall take that feedback on board.

My first call into CompFixAid was very efficient. The correct questions were asked and an initial diagnosis given. The machine was collected from my house the same day and returned a few days thereafter. The initial price was correct and reasonable and the quality of the work faultless. Will use again without hesitation.
