Truthful Review Protections: My initial review was an honest account of my experience, protected by the Consumer Review Fairness Act (CRFA), which safeguards consumers’ rights to leave truthful feedback about their experiences with businesses.
Alleged Contract Breach: The company claimed I violated a contract by sharing my review. However, if such a clause exists, it may be unenforceable under federal law. Consumers have a right to share their genuine experiences without fear of retaliation.
Recording a Call: The company’s response to my review included a phone call. While I legally recorded this conversation to document their conduct, Connecticut’s recording laws require both parties’ consent. I am mindful of this and encourage the company to address these issues transparently.
Threatening Behavior: The threats I received raise concerns about the company’s approach to handling criticism. Instead of addressing legitimate feedback to improve their services, this behavior feels retaliatory and suppressive.
My name is Joseph, and I am a veteran who trusted this company to handle my move from Ohio to Connecticut. Unfortunately, it has been a deeply disappointing experience. Veterans like me often move due to unique circumstances, and I will be sharing my experience with all the veteran groups I know to help others make informed decisions.
From the beginning, I kept asking whether my belongings would be delivered within the promised timeframe because, if not, I would have rented a U-Haul and moved everything myself. That option would have been cheaper overall, as I wouldn’t have had to buy replacement items or stay in hotels while waiting. Despite repeatedly asking for assurances, I was told the delivery would happen on time, which has not been the case.
I have already started replacing my belongings, as I no longer trust this company to deliver them safely or on time. Furniture and other items are replaceable, and I refuse to allow further price increases for what is now an unreliable service. However, some items hold deep sentimental value from my military service, making this delay particularly distressing.
The price I was initially quoted at $2,100 increased twice—first to $2,500 and then to $2,625—citing errors and miscalculations. Despite being promised delivery within 5–7 days, my belongings remain in Kentucky, with no proactive updates and vague responses when I’ve reached out.
I will not be contacting the company again—the ball is in their court. According to the contract (which was difficult to locate), they have 30 days to deliver my belongings. If the matter is not resolved within that timeframe, I will involve a lawyer to address the situation. Any items that arrive broken or lost will also be addressed in a follow-up.
Look out for the reviews!
While researching this company, I noticed patterns in their reviews that raised some concerns. Many use similar phrases like "made sure everything went smoothly" and "handled everything carefully," and the feedback is overwhelmingly positive with no neutral or critical comments, which is unusual for genuine customer experiences. Additionally, several reviews were posted within a short timeframe, suggesting potential coordination.
Adding to my concerns, the company did not provide me with any documents or pamphlets outlining my rights as a customer, which is required by law. This omission made it more difficult to understand my options for resolving issues or escalating complaints.
While these observations don’t prove anything definitive, they raised questions about the authenticity of the reviews and the company’s practices. For those considering this company, I recommend checking additional resources, such as FMCSA announcement on fraudulent movers and brokers, before making a decision.
Final price was nearly double the…
Final price was nearly double the estimate. They didn't add to the estimate that I would definitely need a shuttle service on the end for an extra $535 even though they knew it was going to an urban downtown address. I wa also told that the loaders would tell me when I was getting close in cubic feet listed on the estimate. This didn't happen even though I told the loaders while they were there. After the the truck was loaded, he said we went over the estimated amount by 50%. Surprise! Extra $600. On top of all that, they have sat on my load for 2.5 weeks before starting the 5 day journey across the country. When they give you an estimated time range, it will be at the very end of that range if not later. Mine is later, 3.5 weeks total. I could have rented a truck, stayed in Hiltons, hired guys to load and unload all for about 20% of the price I'm being charged. It took me more than two weeks of calling and texting just to get someone to tell me all this. All they can say is, "We’re sorry about that". Terrible service. Still don't have my stuff.

Over $20K worth of valuable merchandise stolen. Water intrusion into the truck ruining hundreds of dollars of more items. A week late and poorly packed items made this the moving company from hell. Please DO NOT have anything to do with them. You will regret it like I did.
The worst service provider
The worst service provider I've dealt with in a long time--maybe in my whole life. They tried to overcharge me at every step of the move. For example, all my stuff fit in their truck upon pickup. Yet, they charged me for a volume that was above their truck's capacity. I could only revert this overcharge after 3 hours on the phone. Then, they sold my load to another driver for delivery. This driver simply left my house before finishing the job, saying he was too tired. Also, many items were broken upon arrival, but they refused to take any responsibility. Stay away from this company if you can.

Going by the bull you just tried to unload on me in your prior note listed below my message.
Let me get this straight! Coastal (Ryan Rinker) called me to discuss moving our belongings from Dallas, TX to Corpus Christi, TX via the verbal agreement and then a written agreement that Ryan did a very pathetic job of noting our belongings and noting everything we discussed that he didn’t bother to write down.
Ryan lied about all the following:
The move would be handled by Coastal (pickup and Delivery).
Coastal will wrap all furniture to protect it and that I would be contacting R. Rinker to confirm the number of boxes prior to pick up.
I paid $2,179.25 to coastal just so they could deliberately steal my $944.00 Deposit and then deliberately sell my agreement to a third party (Cita) without any prior notification. Thus, giving Cita full rights to steal our belongings and attempt to price gauge me for all most $7,000.00 and they were able to get away with all most $4,000.00 before I caught on to the scam.
Coastal Moving Services are very aware of the theft and discord they are causing working with Cita Van Lines as a co-conspirator as a Team to disrupt innocent people’s lives.
I attempted to contact Coastal 3 times between May 20th and June 2nd with no response to the following #’s
(305.400.4881 – Ryan – Coastal Movers - 888.316.8329 – I think costal movers – Customer Service).
Cita shows up on June 2nd and claims to have no such knowledge of the moving agreement or any portion of it with the exception of the $944.00 deposit and proceeded to intimidate me into moving forward with the move.
Please review with Coastal (Ryan Rinker) in signing a statement that he did or didn’t knowingly acknowledge the verbal contract that we covered during our call! Ryan R. knowingly entered into a verbal and signed agreement knowing his result to be stealing the deposit of $944.00 and knowingly sell the moving agreement to a third party (Cita) knowing they would steal our belongings and attempt to price gauge us in the amount of all most $7,000.00.
Plus, I thought this was a nice touch as to the level of mentality of your team members:

To be honest the move was a horrible nightmare suddenly Cita comes up several extra charges for things that should have been disclosed before movers came to pick up our items. They were late and wanted to charge us because they were not there on time!!! That's CRAZY!!! But I gave the 5 stars because of one young man Johnathan he worked VERY HARD to smooth out a very bad situation. He went over and above to help us. Cita Vanlines you should show your appreciation for such a valued employee!!! Thanks again Johnathan!!! I should not have to show my personal Drivers number, what if someone hacks your system, now my personal info is in cyberspace on the dark web.
Terrible Company
I recently hired this terrible company to move my furniture from Missouri to Washington, and it was an absolute nightmare. From start to finish, this company displayed nothing but incompetence and rudeness. Many of my items arrived damaged, and they completely failed to assemble anything they disassembled at the time of pick-up, despite this being a clear stipulation in our contract.
The customer service was atrocious—rude, dismissive, and utterly unprofessional. The manager was no better, displaying a shocking lack of accountability and courtesy. To make matters worse, they blocked my phone number when I tried to follow up on the compensation they owe me for the damaged items. This is not just poor service; it's outright fraud.
I have already filed a complaint against them with the USDOT (FMCSA). I strongly urge anyone considering this company to look elsewhere. They are irresponsible, dishonest, and a complete disgrace to the moving industry. Avoid them at all costs!

Frustrating & Expensive
We had a contract with Allied Transporation Group who then subcontracted Cita Van Lines without prior notification. The cost went up by $1500 without any explanation. $400 was paid up front as an additional deposit, the movers wouldn't unload the truck until we gave them $1037 CASH, and they refused to give us a paid receipt. It was a very expensive and frustrating experience. On a good note, things were wrapped very well and nothing arrived broken. The contract was not under my name, it was under the name of my church. I would never use this company again.

They were very efficient and careful with all items/furniture both loading and unloading. Nothing scratched or broken. Loaded on 5/6/2024 and drove 3 hours to destination. Unloaded 5/7/2024 and were even early to new address…went very smoothly.
Most importantly they were very polite and personable while working!
Made the move much less stressful!
The reason I gave 4 stars is only because the quote first given to me by America First moving, who I contracted with and gave deposit to, was WAY underestimated. The final cost charged by Cinta was over twice the cost I had expected.

Miguel and Noel were very nice, and helpful and they helped me move my things very fast. They even helped me fix my bed frame and put things where I wanted it. None of my items were damaged when my opened my boxes they handled my boxes carefully.
