I purchased their 5-star warranty on a new roof 9 years ago, which covers workmanship issues for 25 years. I got a leak in my roof above my kids' room and filed a claim for it over 2 months ago. I immediately put 2 tarps on my roof to cover the leak and turned off one of the circuits in the room to prevent an electrical fire. The tarps are held on with pavers because correctly applying a tarp with roofing nails would have voided the warranty. Over 2 months, many frustrating phone calls, and unacknowledged emails later, Certainteed is still dragging their feet. I still have the tarps up. I still have the circuit off. Their own inspector came out 2 weeks ago (finally) and verbally confirmed the issue is due to poor workmanship. I've gotten no response since then. They will try to wait you out until you get fed up and pay to fix the issue yourself. Unfortunately, they do seem to be a scam company.

I don't know how they stay in business! I wanted to buy their invisivent hidden vent soffit product. I called all my local suppliers, they don't handle it. So I went on CertainTeed's web site to find a local supplier. it gave me 4 choices, all were the same company in different locations. so I called the only one they had, they told me they don't sell soffit materials at all. They gave me a number of one of their other name companies and they don't handle it. They gave me a number of another company who also doesn't handle their product line but did have a competitors brand. So I tried one last time calling directly in to customers service. They asked for my zip code and proceeded to tell me that they only have access to the same information I received off of there web site! LOL Are you kidding me, this is how a multi billion dollar company operates? WOW how insane! How do you stay in business when someone who wants your product, not only I can't find where to buy it but your own company doesn't know where to buy it! What a disgrace!

My home is only 8 years old and I am losing shingles like crazy. I had a roofing company inspect my roof. They showed me that None of my shingles adhered to each other. They flap freely in the wind, crack and fall off. Does Certainteed care? Ha! They make filling a warranty claim nearly impossible! My attorney says that since they have had class action lawsuits against them for my specific shingle winning a lawsuit is no problem.

I am a roofing cintractor that has been installing roofs for more than 30 years.
Certainteed makes average shingles, but the poor customer service and dishonesty is a serious issue.
I was scammed out of lmost $2,000.00 promesed by their rep. (Chelsea). And after repeated attenpts they do not honor their word.

The requirements this company has to have a roof examined for leaks insane. They require you to hire a roofer to remove the shingle only pay $50.00 and require 50 other documents phots etc. to honor the warranty. Stay away from this company at all costs!

The 35 year roof shingles warranty sold us on these shingles, but when they failed, CertainTeed requires unreasonable demands to honor their warranty, including sending them defective shingles for their examination.
Our front porch ceiling started to crack due to water from the roof. We sent them pictures, but they insist on a roofer examining our roof, sending damage shingles to them, etc. How can the specific shingles be identified, what happens to our roof if shingles are removed? Their demands to honor their warranty are unworkable and unreasonable. Communication with this company proved unacceptable! Their warranty is a sham.
The final straw is if they approved the claim, they would replace the very few defective shingles. The roof is not covered by their warranty, only individual shingles. 🤪
