I am Deaf, and the Captify captioning glasses have helped me a lot in my daily life. The captions are mostly accurate and help me follow conversations and feel more included when I talk with people. This is very important to me as a Deaf person because it helps me communicate more easily in public places, appointments, and everyday conversations.

The glasses are comfortable to wear, and the battery and connection mostly work well. This technology is very helpful and gives me more independence and confidence when communicating with others.

One issue I would like to share is the caption position. The text appears in the mid-level of my vision, and my eyes feel exhausted from reading the text while also trying to see people and the environment through the lens. It can feel stressful because my eyes have to work hard to switch between reading the captions and seeing real life at the same time.

I hope in the future there could be an option to adjust the caption position so it is more comfortable for the eyes. I think it would be very helpful if users could adjust the caption position higher, middle, lower, or side to reduce eye strain and make reading more comfortable.

Overall, I am very happy to use this product, and I believe this technology can really help many Deaf and Hard of Hearing people feel more independent, included, and connected to the world.

I ordered their captify pro glasses for my deaf wife as we had a few use cases where we thought they would improve her quality of life. Unfortunately we found in each case they were disappointing or did not help.

1) She often struggles to hear our young children, the glasses barely worked with them at all.
2) In the car when I'm driving, she can't see my face to lip read (especially in the dark). The online transcription does not cope well with an intermittent connection and the offline mode is next to useless in it's accuracy
3) The main use case we had was in a professional setting, work meetings and conferences. The above were "nice to haves" but this was why we really bought the glasses. Unfortunately over the few weeks we had them, she never had a succesful session with them. The main issue is that the glasses would just go into standby, despite active transcription happening. We could change the standby timeout to up to 2 minutes but that was still too short and would quickly change itself back to the default 1 minute (despite the config still showing 2 minutes)

We contacted captify about this issue and the initial response was very dismissive "have you enabled transcription?". After we responded they admitted the timeout issue is a known bug (why give the first response then?!) but with no ETA for a fix.

Overall the accuracy of the transcription was pretty poor as well, even with the overly expensive "improved" experience with the subscription. I thought maybe it was our scottish accents but I tested them using several different talk radio stations and I would estimate they got 5-10% of words wrong even with the clearest accents.

We were a few days away from the end of the 45 day return period and we didnt wasnt to rely on vague promises of a fix to their core service so we decided to initiate a return.

Captify left us to arrange the return and as we're in the UK it cost us £50 for postage and then got stuck at customs as they wanted another $190 on import duties.

I would recommend avoiding this product/company - especially if you're outside of the US

I have had a very complicated hearing journey from hearing to ski slope hearing to deafness. Hearing aids and cochlear implants - I’ve tried them all. All great tools and technology, which is what these glasses are- a great tool. I find them very helpful in situations that I struggle in. Are they a miracle to being hearing impaired or deaf? No but I think anyone would benefit if they are hearing impaired and need more confidence.

My 80 year old dad got his new Captify glasses a few weeks ago…and I think both he and I were super excited but also a bit tentative that something like them would actually work for him. He has tried everything (hearing aids, recordings etc) and is severely hard of hearing.

We just had a family gathering last night (his first with his Captify glasses). He was with his wife, daughter, granddaughter, son in law (all adults) and two toddler great grandchildren for 3 hours. And…he got to be an active participant in every conversation…even with the littles and their books that made animal sounds! It was amazing!!! I stood back and cried as I got the honor of watching my 80 year old dad have an adult conversation with his granddaughter (likely his favorite person in the world), at real speed, in real time and with a smile on his face! It’s been TOO long since he has been able to do that!!!

Thank you for giving life back to those who have struggled with their hearing far too long. He figured out how to use them all on his own (who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks..haha) and they are SUCH a blessing!

Absolutely love the glasses. My only con to them is that it is hard to clean both sets of lense. the Rx lenses are hard to remove to clean both side. if there was a easier solution maybe a hindge or something. As for the PRO: WOW they work great, capture everything and provide a high quality display. Weight is not more more then my current glasses.

I have profound hearing loss. I've been using hearing aids for eleven years with very little success. I've only had my Captify Pro glasses for a little over a week now, and the initial results are nothing short of incredible! My wife no longer has to repeat herself three and four times for me to understand what she is saying. I've used them in group settings and in restaurants. So far, they have been flawless. While I'm still going through a bit of a learning curve, these glasses have been a game changer for me! The only slight negative is that I haven't been getting much more than 2-2.5 hours of use before needing a recharge. The upside is that they do recharge to full within 30-35 minutes. Regardless, I do strongly recommend the Captify Pro glasses to anyone who is struggling with hearing loss... they are much better than hearing aids!

I am very excited about this product. I look forward to this extra help for communicating with those around me.
The support experience has been the best I have ever had with any company. I can be a bit slow in learning new touch sensitive devices. Isabelle stayed right with me until she could tell I was getting the knack of using this new product.

Excellent start. Need more experience navigating the buttons, but I know how things work now.

I'd like to start by informing that I am now the middle between 60 and 70, and my hearing impairment was diagnosed around 5 after a birth accident (forceps) and the mumps. Left ear off the charts profound never aided entire life. Right ear started off mild to moderate, and then aggressively declined to almost profound as well. These glasses are life-altering for me. NEVER did I ever have any chance to understand socially, EVER. I opted to wait for the pro version which was delivered to me on the 9th, and in time for a family wedding on the 14th. My experience, while not 100% perfect, was ASTOUNDING. Tom is an incredible advocate, and understands personally the struggles of those who are impaired and how hard it is to connect with people. And that is exactly what these glasses allow me to do, connect in real time with people around me. What I have missing all these years, when I stop to think about it, somewhat saddens me. However, my future looks so good with these glasses. Support is outstanding, this is a company that CARES about its customers. If you are hearing impaired and considering glasses, do not hesitate about trying a pair from Captify. You will not be disappointed.

Isabelle is a great instructor and very patient. She has the gift of explaining and having a gracious personality as well. I was able to meet with her on Zoom and share my iPhone screen so she could see the Captify App as we were going through the steps. That made a huge difference in communicating. I appreciated using that system for Captify support and I was thankful that Captify allowed the use of Zoom.

I recently purchased Captify Pro glasses for my work meetings, because I was missing out a lot of information. These glasses with the directional mics are really a great investment at a great price compared to the Xander glasses. The transcription feature even catches door bells, whistles and drawers closing... even a yawn. Perfect! Even has a language translate feature in about 5 common languages. The glasses last 4 hours before a quick 40 minute recharge; the charging function and menu are very simplistic and the instructions are straightforward, came packaged very well and much quicker than the 4 weeks ship time. Tom has done wonders for people with challenged hearing and as a user of Captify Pro glasses, I'm very impressed.. Customer support is phenomenal and available to assist always. I'm so thankful for this opportunity to improve the quality of my life. Thank you Tom and the developers!!!
