A waste of time
Perhaps this company offers a great service to some, but not me. It took lots of phone calls to get someone to come out to my house to quote for an air source heat pump. Once they were here they were rushed and promised to send someone to survey the house. I have had no contact since. If they were not interested in the job or thought the house was unsuitable I would have preferred them to say. I contacted them because a friend gave a recommendation. They have just wasted my time!

Disappointing in every way.
I wanted to be pleased with my Caplor Energy Heat Pump installation, however my experience has been disappointing at every level.
The person who made the initial visit and quote did not really understand the product and specified a unit that turned out to be far too small. I wonder if the subsequent problems stem from Caplor trying to keep as close as possible to this original price?
The unit ultimately supplied was much lower tech than originally specified (bigger, less clever, but not too much more expensive). Communication during detailed design and planning stage was virtually non-existent. Despite informing them every time I called of my current phone number they insisted on calling an unused old number.
The installation was poor without any clear project management or oversight from Caplor (they use 3rd party businesses to do the installation). Despite a number of return visits the installation is still not right and I expect to make a claim under the MCS system.
My most recent email and telephone call have not been returned. They are a company I would never use again and could only recommend that others avoid them.

Please see below responses to some of the questions and points you have raised:

- The Sales Manager assigned to your project has over 40 years’ experience in sales and nearly 5 years of experience in dealing with Air Source Heat Pumps.
In the first instance a quote is always based on the EPC. Secondary to that and following a technical visit from an Engineer and a Heat loss calculation changes are made as required. Options based on this were offered to you including the suggested cascade system, which you declined to have.
The unit ultimately supplied was much lower tech than originally specified (bigger, less clever, but not too much more expensive).
- As per the above, the pump change was due to the results of the Heat loss, however the Grant pump that was installed is equal to all of its competitors. The Operations Manager contacted you on 05/04/2021 to discuss this in detail along with suggested changes to the radiators to further improve the system.
Communication during detailed design and planning stage was virtually non-existent
- On confirmation of an installation the Operations team make a detailed phone call to all customers to discuss the project in detail along with the necessary processes. Pre-install email is also then sent to all customers confirming the phone conversation.
Despite informing them every time I called of my current phone number they insisted on calling an unused old number.
- We apologise for this. It was down to human error.
The installation was poor without any clear project management or oversight from Caplor
- Our records show that this project was managed in exactly the same method as all of our other installations and that at all times information was requested from us by the client we responded within 24 hours.
(they use 3rd party businesses to do the installation).
- We do use fully vetted and trusted partners on some of our installs. Our paperwork from quote stage onward fully shows that subcontractors may be used.
Despite a number of return visits the installation is still not right
- The Engineer has re-visited the installation on multiple occasions. In June 2021 two visits were made to deal with snagging issues that are expected with any installation.
In August 2021 a visit was made to rectify an issue with the external insulation which was caused by a bad batch of equipment.
In October 2021, as requested, the Engineer returned to site again to change the pump to a constant temperature.
My most recent email and telephone call have not been returned. They are a company I would never use again and could only recommend that others avoid them.
- The latest communication received has stated there is a leak on a radiator. This was forward to Aftersales and we informed that as we did not install nor change the heating circuit there would be charges incurred, however we were willing to assist in the issue.
At all stages of this installation we have followed our usual processes and communicated all information when requested.

Very good service at a difficult time
Had solar PV cells installed in June. I’d had a solar system on a previous property so I knew what was involved. A reasonable price was quoted, with several options. We decided on the solar boost system to power the immersion heater. There were several delays, but the work was done quickly on the agreed day, and it’s a neat job. Unfortunately the installers forgot about the solar boost and had to return another day to fit. The system has been working well so I have no complaints.

Air source heat pump into a challenging cottage
Caplor have installed an air source heat pump in our old quirky cottage beset with ancient plumbing, variable calibre pipes and uneven masonry.
Grant and Ryan have done a fantastic job, overcoming all these obstacles, and creating a system that works very well. They respected the property, left no mess, and put in many extra hours to get the job done, with good humour and not a word of complaint. Ours was a difficult install, successfully completed.

We would have hoped for a site visit but the firm seemed rather busy with enquiries and they found out what they needed to know online.
