I have been following The School of Canine Science for several years now, and have taken part in many of their courses. This is a fully inclusive group, very honest and down to earth. They cover so much more than just dog training, so you can learn to look after yourself as well as building a great bond with your dogs.

In my experience, the School of Canine Science (SOCS) does not provide a safe or accountable learning environment. Concerns were minimised, dissent was silenced, and responsibility was shifted onto students rather than acknowledged by the trainers.

I invested over £1,700 in SOCS courses between 2020 and 2024. The courses consistently directed students to Facebook groups for core content, peer learning, and trainer interaction. These groups were not optional extras but an essential part of the learning process.

In 2024, during the High Performers programme, SOCS released an AI update featuring a chatbot role-play that included content involving sexual assault. The material remained available for several days and was only removed after I raised a concern. Before receiving any apology, explanation, or opportunity for discussion, I was removed from all SOCS groups. Hours later, I was accused of instigating a “witch hunt” and of sharing screenshots with a former business partner—claims for which no evidence was ever provided. The only “apology” offered referred back to a vague trigger warning and did not take responsibility for the nature of the material. Instead, the response relied on blame-shifting, placing the focus on me rather than addressing the issue itself.

I submitted a refund request, citing the inappropriate content, the lack of accountability, the erosion of psychological safety, and the denial of access to essential course components. This was refused, with SOCS insisting that the Facebook groups were “optional,” despite courses linking directly to them and encouraging regular interaction. They also referred to an email that supposedly addressed my concerns, which they later admitted never existed.

No educational organisation should dismiss concerns about content involving sexual assault or retaliate against students who speak up. It is not too late for SOCS to take responsibility and resolve this in good faith.

Review of the School of Canine Science
I started out with 30 Days of Canine Science, which was so much fun and a great way to get into their style of teaching. I then moved on to Scent for Six, which completely changed how I think about scentwork — it’s so cleverly structured and rewarding to work through. After that, I took on The Behaviour Bible, which is incredibly in-depth and full of practical information that really boosted my confidence and understanding.

The School of Canine Science has totally transformed how I train and work with dogs. Everything is based on solid science, but it’s explained in a really clear, down-to-earth way that’s easy to apply. The tutors are brilliant — knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely passionate about helping you improve.

More recently, I joined High Performers, their monthly subscription, which is packed with even more high-quality content. It’s a great way to keep learning and stay inspired long-term.

Highly recommend to anyone serious about dogs and training — whether you’re just starting or have years of experience.

Not new to dog behaviour and training but new to SoCS last Autumn. I came here for training but have gained so much more. I wish I had caught the bug long ago.

High Performers
There is a thoughtfulness about what is needed for growth and maintenance; in business or just personally, that I haven't encountered before. There is so much content, but it's not diluted or half-baked and it's accessible - where I have engaged, I have grown.

In what can be, ironically, a pretty mean industry, I have felt supported and not patronised, able to ask anything. Theres so much knowledge here, not just Nando and Dean, but with it a refreshing lack of judgement, or ego.

Fusion
I have found these courses to be insightful and refreshingly practical, providing access to world class trainers which would otherwise not have been possible. To be able to watch them train and receive feedback and troubleshooting on my own training - wow!

I’ve been a member of the School of Canine Science for several years now and currently part of their High Performers group. I’ve completed many of their courses, and each one has left me more inspired, more knowledgeable, and more confident in my training approach.

What sets them apart is their absolute commitment to positive reinforcement and ethical training methods. There’s no place for aversives here—just science-based, reward-focused strategies that genuinely work and put the dog’s welfare first.

I have been a part of The SOCS World for around 5 years now and their content and information is second to none! Dean and Nando are great teachers and very likeable, so easy to watch and learn from. The content of their lessons is incredible, researched and backed by science, and has really changed my business for the better. I wouldn't be where I am without their knowledge and expertise. SOCS is great for me because it’s rooted in science & the information is reliable, transparent and accurate.
