Misleading Representation - "Pay When You Sell" (Fine Print: "no later than 6 months")
We used CampaignAgent's Pay Later service to finance the marketing costs associated with selling our home.
The service was promoted as a way to align marketing payments with settlement proceeds, with messaging suggesting that the costs would be deducted when the property settled.
What we didn't appreciate was that the arrangement also imposed a six-month repayment deadline, regardless of whether the property had sold.
To be fair, this condition was disclosed further down the original email, including beneath the payment selection button. However, I believe the overall marketing placed much greater emphasis on paying from settlement proceeds than on the possibility of having to repay the debt before the property sold.
Our property remains unsold, and we have now been asked to pay more than $4,000 without the settlement proceeds we expected would fund that payment.
While the repayment deadline may be contractually enforceable, the experience has left me deeply dissatisfied with how the product was presented.
My advice to anyone considering CampaignAgent's Pay Later service is to understand that it is not necessarily a "pay when your property sells" arrangement. You may be required to repay the full amount even if your property hasn't sold.
Knowing what I know now, I would not choose this service again.
