The dog trainer at the San Jose facility, Juan, was great. He was kind, patient and really cared about the dogs. He has left so I would recommend watching a lesson prior to signing up. My last lesson was more aggressive for both me and my dog.

I don't know how many people pay to have a service dog or get it trained to get that certification but I've been nothing but more than satisfied with the work Juan has done with my dog and me , I take my dog everywhere I go hardware store , grocery store, dinner , movies , YES MOVIES !!!
Pay attention listen and be consistent with your dog's training and you will see the trust and abilities that you expect your dog to have anywhere you go . Thank you Juan

Don't get scammed liked me! Stay as far away from this place as you can.
I brought my 2 year old German shepherd Ranger, in for training to address specific things he was doing. Prior to coming to Cali K9, he knew basic obedience and on leash healing, stay and I didn't have to use treats as a motivator, he just loved to be praised.

The specific issues we were having that needed addressing was he was very mouthy using his huge mouth to grab people and kids on the arm and clothing. It was non aggressive biting, but he is 100 lbs, it's scary for kids. Ranger had to be crated each night, so he didn't run around the house jumping on the furniture, knocking stuff over. I didn't want to cage him like a bird every time I left the house. He was house trained since he was 6 months and never ONCE, did he ever go in the house or crate after 6 months. My old trainer retired and the lodge got sold, Cali k9 was recommended to me and I read all the reviews on their site.

Prior to signing up, I spoke with the owner Jas and was very specific about the issues. Jas said his 30 day training method would correct all this and more based on his 5-method system. I paid $5000 up front and once I paid, it took 10 days to hear back from them. By then, they were offering a 20% discount so that's $1000 savings. I had not even confirmed a date yet so when I called Jas about the discount, he refused but offered me an extra week of training making it 37 days of training so I said ok.

Upon drop off, I saw his facility was very small and didn't see anywhere the dogs were boarded. I was introduced to Isaiah, who said he would be handling Rangers training. I asked Isiah where to the dog's sleep and he pointed to a door to a room. I asked to see inside, and he refused to show it to me. When Isiah walked away, I peeked through the door that was left partially opened and was disturbed to see small plastic crates stacked on top of each other with the dogs crammed in these small crates in a broom like closet. Ranger is 100 lbs. I was freaking out. I called Isiah back and he said he has few larger crates upstairs but refused to show them to me.

I left and immediately called Jas and asked for a refund and he refused. I didn't feel comfortable leaving my dog crated in a plastic crate like you use when traveling on airplane 22 hours a day but JAS refused so I was stuck.

20 days later, I never heard back from anyone, so I called Isiah to check in. He says Ranger was doing good but about to run out of food the following day. I was frustrated. I rushed more food over there the following day. 2 weeks later, I get my first correspondence from them since I dropped off my dog which was to pick him up or be charged more money.

I went to get my dog after 5 weeks and noticed right away he had a bad urine stench. A young lady tried to demonstrate what he learned but I could see Ranger was not even listening to her commands. His smell was so bad, Isiah took him outside with me for a walk around the block. II asked about the specific things I wanted addressed Isiah said he didn't work with him on that. When I asked about the other house stuff, me having to keep him in a cage because he jumps all over the house he replied, he didn't know about that and said he can't do that anyway and recommended I use an E collar and work with him at home on those things. I asked, "then what have you been doing with him these last 37 days?" This place did NOTHING to work on any of the things I brought him in for.

They also lost his collar, and all his tags. When I looked in his food container, it had mold in there. I called Jas and he said, "Ranger was hard to train because he kept urinating in his crate and laying in it and they had to keep bathing him". Why didn't they call me? Every dog owner knows that a dog will only lay in his urine if kept in a confine space for long periods of time, where he can't hold it any longer.

Jas came over and was very defensive, interrupting every time I was trying to explain the issues and then he brought out treats and started to show me how ranger was trained. When we were in the house, he had ranger lay down and after few minutes, ranger got right back up again. Then we went outside, and he brought out hid top trained schutzhund dog. Had both dogs walk next to each other and stay down. He videotaped this and it was a good prop and very deceiving, it looked good next to his top dog but that is not what I brought my dog in for. He already knew how to walk on leash, heal sit and stay.

We are headed to court and I will repost the results of that outcome.
