We've been going to Bright!Tax for several years. They are always very helpful and reliable.

Very thorough, especially for something as complicated as taxes. Responded fairly promptly to my question and the answers were very good and detailed.

I've been using them for years, previously always excellent service. When I signed up in advance last year, everything was normal. I checked that my info was still accurate in their organizer. No issues. Ready to go, so I paid my deposit.

I decided to start on that 2025 organizer today. They've instituted a new "system" since I paid. Deleted. Everything is deleted. My company info is gone. My extensive FBAR info gone (dozens of account numbers, bank details and balances). Years of returns gone. Even my last name was reverted to my maiden name. It's a brand new account with nothing on it, and my company has disappeared entirely.

The new questionnaire is completely generic and clearly intended for AI processing. It asks a multitude of questions intended for the general population, while having no insight on your existing situation or your previous filings. It seems to mix business questions with personal questions, all in one big generic mess, and it's hard to tell whether I'm supposed to answer for business or personal.

Simultaneously, it omits any particular tax needs, such as an FBAR. It's exactly what any random AI would ask from somebody on a 6 month vacation. Not a 15 year expat who's already been with Bright tax for years. They didn't bother to transfer a single detail from my original account, everything is just blank while the AI wants to know about my 'long vacation'.

Avoid. You can get generic AI slop taxes that omit any personalization for free. And mass deletion with no warning is a pretty nasty thing to do after a client has already paid their deposit.

I would NOT have agreed to $1350 if I had known that the plan was just to delete my account and replace my personalized service with a generic AI form that omits the most important parts of my filing and doesn't even remember my name from last year.

I’m extremely satisfied with Bright!Tax. They’ve been consistently helpful and always take the time to explain things clearly. It makes a huge difference, especially in my case, as I’m a complete disaster when it comes to tax returns.

We're grateful for the services provided by Micaela Peña and earlier this year, Mery Cusi. The process was smooth and simple. Micaela is super-responsive and her answers clarified our understanding when we were confused or looking for additional information. I appreciate the option to book a timeslot to work on our return, and the reminder that the booking was coming up. Next year we will have to do a foreign tax payment, so we'll be booking further in the year, after we've received our 2026 foreign return. Knowing the process will help! It's a relief to be complete so early this year and that's largely due to Micaela and Bright!Tax.

I like the new format of the client organizer, but also that I was able to access last year’s so I could copy/paste like information. The new format is more intuitive and easier to use.

FANTASTIC! They make my tax stress go away. There is a main person I work with but there is also a team of experts each of whom can address specific issues and concerns, if needed. The people I have worked with respond quickly and provide really in-depth answers to my questions. The person I most often work with is always polite and pleasant. He gives off a vibe of joy--joy in his work and that he enjoys helping his clients. Too bad I am limited to only 5 stars!!!!!!!!!!

I love how Bright!Tax assigns a Client Success Manager (Mery) that walked us through the whole tax remitting process in such a helpful and friendly way!
Any time I emailed her with a question, I received clear answers and thoughtful explanations within a day! No question was too big or too insignificant. The excellent Client Care made all the difference in contributing to a very positive Tax Season experience.

Taking a point off for lack of comms during the last year. But I want to caveat it by sharing that I too ignored comms or dealing with my taxes until the last moment. Finally, when we were able to get on the review conference call with our accountant and customer success rep, Lauren, the conversation was productive, clear and strategic. We explored how to make different choices to craft a more optimised strategy for the next year. And aligned on how we will address communication gaps going forward. On both of our sides.

I finally got to try the new portal and it is way way better. Well done team! One caveat or wish list that for your Premium clients you should set up small group slack channels for the CS person + lead accountant. It is relatively secure. You can get consent on certain data sharing, but it gets us away from emails and into this century. You can also try a ticketing system but honestly that mostly goes to die in emails anyway.

Not sure who uses emails these days …. I personally start to itch and feel like I am back in the 90’s. So I just don’t read mine.

But as someone who has watched this start-up from its inception, seeing your growth makes me want to continue to support you even through some of the kinks do still need to be worked out. The trend is definitely in the right direction.
