I took a carbon literacy course with Will at Bright Sustainability just before Christmas, which was something I'd had on my to-do list for a while. I'm a freelancer and wanted to consolidate the piecemeal knowledge I’ve picked up through working and volunteering in the sustainability space and the articles and books I’ve read.

Our training took part in a small group, which gave us loads of opportunity to link what we learned back to our businesses, big and small. Will tailored the discussion to our individual situations and made sure everyone had an equal opportunity to participate and relate what we were learning back to their business.

On the second day we made carbon commitments. As a digital microbusiness, most of my carbon emissions are based on my digital footprint. It’s easy to think I can't make a difference by focusing on the miniscule amount of carbon I might save. But does that mean I shouldn’t bother? Absolutely not!

I strongly feel we should be making sustainability business as usual instead of a ‘nice to have’. This is the only way we can change as a society.

Will reviewed our carbon literacy applications before submitting them, and it was really helpful to know we were on the right track. Thank you Bright Sustainability!

The Carbon Literacy course was a great overview which quickly digs deeper to highlight areas we can impact, cutting through the jargon. A very friendly, accessible course where I felt comfortable raising my hand to gain clarification/help on all material covered.
Will is clearly very passionate and well informed. He also set a friendly community tone from the outset which was great because it meant we were all comfortable sharing ideas and asking questions.

I completed the carbon literacy training course in November 2024. The founder, Will, ran a really engaging and well organised online course split over 2 days which fit well with my other work commitments. Communication throughout and after the course with submitting the evidence forms was quick and easy. I am now carbon literacy trained and would definitely recommend completing the course through Bright Sustainability to anyone interested in learning more about carbon costs and impacts.
