46 Days to Deliver, 3 Months to Refund: The Bont Cycling Nightmare

UPDATE - April 14, 2026:
After posting this review, Bont Cycling finally reached out and reimbursed the €10 penalty fee via PayPal. While the debt is settled, it took 5 months of ignored emails and a public complaint to get a resolution. A resolution that is forced by a public review is damage control, not good service. I’ve updated my rating to 2 stars to reflect that the money was eventually returned, but the process was exhausted and legally dismissive.

Original Review (Nov - April):

Order Date: Nov 19, 2025.
Delivery Date: Jan 4, 2026 (46 days later!).

Return Issue: Followed all instructions, but Bont's warehouse refused/failed to accept the delivery.

The Cost: I was charged a €10 penalty by the carrier because Bont rejected the package.

Final Resolution: It is now April. They finally refunded the shoes, but refuse to pay the €10 cash debt they caused, offering only "store credit" instead.

The Experience:
The shipping times are abysmal, but the customer service is worse. After their warehouse failed to accept my return, I spent months chasing "Alex," "Robert," and "Megan." Despite acknowledging the error and my rights under EU law (§ 304 BGB), they have effectively "stolen" €10 by refusing to reimburse the penalty fee they caused.

Offering store credit for a cash debt is an insult. It's a way to force me to buy more from a company that took 1.5 months to ship a single pair of shoes.

Verdict: A company that ignores consumer law and takes 5 months to resolve a simple return does not deserve your business. There are plenty of other premium shoe brands with functional logistics. Avoid Bont.

disaster experience

I ordered these shoes on 18 November 2025, but as of 8 January 2026 I still have not received the exchanged pair.

After placing the order, it seemed they forgot about it until I contacted customer service. Only then did I finally receive the shoes — but they were too small, so I had to return them. I sent the return on 8 December 2025.

More than a month has passed, and I still have not received the replacement. I contacted customer service twice, but received no response at all.

The whole experience has been a disaster.

I needed help with sizing for some new…

I needed help with sizing for some new cycling shoes so emailed Bont and got a quick and helpful response from Alex. I subsequently ordered a pair of the Riot 24 in a wide fitting online, and these arrived in less than two weeks. It's really too early to say how durable they are, but the white microfibre uppers clean easily and most importantly, they're a great fit with the toebox being very similar in shape to my feet. They feel like slippers and you completely forget you're wearing them when cycling, so a good start. Thank you Bont for an excellent service!

Finger off if you are looking for a quick and customer friendly shipping and return process

I ordered 4 different sizes and in the end none of them fitted because the carbon sole is too high in the foot arch area and pushes into my foot (so nothing for flat foot people).

Shipping: Bont is transparent about their very long shipping times of 3-5 weeks which in my eyes is way too long. Mine took a month.

Payment: As soon as the booking is processed they deducted the money from my bank account. So they didn’t wait until the package was sent out. And you can imagine that it was not a small amount of money when ordering 4 shoes from them. I am just hoping that they are able to send the money back timely after they have received my parcel back…

Returning: the returning process is simpel and the Bont team answered quickly. However, be careful not all shoes are eligible for return! You have to pay the costs for returning the parcel by yourself. As bont ships from the Netherlands you have to send the parcel back to the Netherlands which is not cheap. On top, I had to pay additional insurance for the parcel as the shoes were above the average insurance sum of 500 euro. So in total I am paying 32 euro to ship the parcel back.

Bont displays the shipping time, and the Dutch warehouse transparley on their website, however After this experience I will not order there again, especially as the logistics is not impossible to manage way more customer friendly as plenty of other companies show.

no return possible

I am disappointed in Bont.
I followed all the steps on the website to determine the right shoe size. Ordered the recommended size and... they turned out to be (way) too big...A mistake not made by me, but by the erroneous information on your website.
Then, I ordered a smaller size. According to the EU importer in Netherlands I could return both pair of shoes of the second ones also wouldn´t fit (the least thing you can do if offering products online..)

However, now, after having bought 2 pairs of shoes, Bont tells me I can't return any of them... (as I bought them in sale. However, I was assured before buying by Bont I could return them). If your they had given me the correct information, I would never have ordered the 2nd pair.

So, concluding, Bonts customer service is shit.
Now I am stuck with 2 pairs of shoes, of which the first ones were wrongly sized because of a mistake on your part. And the second ones were promised to be returnable to me....

And I will strongly advise against anybody buying Bont shoes!

Long wait, great shoes

Lead times are long, and the shoes definitely come up small so I'd advise ordering a couple of pairs...

BUT, they are amazing shoes, especially if you've got weird feet (flat, in my case). They are very honest about lead times and the sales/support team are super-responsive and helpful. They were also really good about the returns on my pair that were too small. Super light, great quality. Would recommend.

Beware of ordering online - sizing way off

Beware: the sizing of these shoes is from another planet. I would advise strongly against using their sizing advice on their website before ordering. I made that mistake, waited ages for the shoes to arrive from Australia and then found them to be way too small, despite having meticulously measured every aspect of my feet and referred to their own sizing charts. It's not worth the hassle. Customer service are unhelpful - and with the expense of paying to send the shoes back across the globe, it's just not worth it. I'd never bother dealing with them again.

I recently ordered two pairs of Bont…

Edit:
After I contacted Bont customer support about defective shoes, they sent me a new pair and let me keep the defective ones so that I could use them for riding. As a result, I changed one-star rating to four.

I recently ordered two pairs of Bont cycling shoes.
After two weeks of complete silence, a Bont representative told me that Vaypor G was unavailable in the style I ordered and offered me shoes in a different style. Why would a company like Bont advertise shoes on their website that are not available in the first place? I agreed for a different style to be sent. However, I received the shoes after almost two months after I ordered them(My credit card was charged in full amount on the day I placed an order). Upon receiving shoes I noticed a defect on the right shoe in the toe area. I emailed them about this issue over a week ago and have yet to receive they response. I still haven't received a second pair of Vaypor+. I've contacted Bont Customer Service on multiple occasions and it's very frustrating to deal with them. Based on my experience with Bont, I must say, that their customer service is non-existent. I would NOT recommend Bont Cycling to anyone. And this was my first and last purchase of Bont products.

Bont Riot Road Cycling Shoes

I recently ordered the Bont Riot road cycling shoes. They took several weeks to ship and came from China. Bont sent me the wrong size shoe - I ordered 11 wide and was sent 11 standard. I contacted them about this issue; the first person I spoke to told me to try heat moulding them to my foot. I tried this and it did not help - I tried the shoes on my indoor trainer and within 5 minutes I had severe pain then numbness in one foot that lasted over an hour.
I contacted to return the shoes, explaining what had happened so far and asking if there was anything they could do and was told they couldn't be returned as I violated the return policy by heat moulding despite them TELLING me to heat mould the shoes first. I was then told to instead "try selling them on the used marked as our shoes tend to sell well" and was very passive aggressively told via email "how about you go refresh yourself on our return policy"
I then talked to some employees at my local bike shop about this issue when trying on new shoes and they told me Bont is known for issues like this and that is the reason they stopped carrying their cycling shoes.
I left a review on their website but they took it down, then a member of their customer service team emailed me saying they didn't see where in my email I said they sent the wrong size, despite the first sentence in my initial email reading "First off, I ordered size 11 wide and received size 11"
Passive aggressive customer service, foot-damaging shoes, and a company willing to trick you to avoid having to pay out on a refund. Big avoid!
