We have used Bolsover Cruise Club to book our cruises for over 20 years. Booking is an easy process and the staff are always polite, professional and have fantastic knowledge to give advice when necessary.

The phones are answered fairly quickly or you know where you are in the queue. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. They can advise when necessary and are always polite and courteous.

We have been using Bolsover for many years now and always get a 5* service from the team.
On this occasion we knew which cruise we wanted from our research and the staff were really efficient and helpful in sorting the booking with all the extras we wanted. Nothing is ever too much trouble.

We have travelled with Bolsover before and were very happy. We had to cancel at short notice on one occasion due to a death in the family and Bolsover were understanding.

Disappointing experience from start to finish – expected much better

We booked our first family cruise with Bolsover Cruise Club after receiving a strong recommendation from my parents, who have booked many cruises through them in the past without any issues. Unfortunately, our experience was very different, and we have been left extremely disappointed.

There were several issues throughout the booking process, particularly regarding our drinks packages and flight arrangements.

We were charged for two Classic drinks packages, which included WI-FI and a dinner Credit despite travelling with our 14-year-old son. P&O management confirmed to us onboard that we should only have paid for one Classic package and that should have received the complimentary Refresh package and that WI-FI could have been separate for those who needed it.

We also raised concerns with Bolsover Cruise Club about the additional cost of the drinks packages on multiple occasions. However, we were not offered an alternative that would have represented better value for our family. It was only after the cruise that we discovered we could potentially have saved around £241 by choosing a different arrangement. We were also subsequently told that a drinks-only Classic package was available, but this had never been explained to us when booking.

Bolsover Cruise Club eventually made a gesture payment of £107 towards the drinks-package issue, which we acknowledge. However, this did not remove our concerns about why the more suitable options had not been explained to us in the first place.

We also experienced problems with our flights. Despite booking two cabins for our family to travel together, we were initially allocated separate flights to Malta. When we tried to resolve this, we were initially told we would have to pay 50% of the additional cost to change the flights, even though the error was not ours. The proposed charge was eventually removed following discussions with management, but the situation caused unnecessary stress and upset.

The subsequent flight change also meant moving from a charter flight to a scheduled flight, without us being properly informed about the different baggage arrangements.

As first-time cruisers, we deliberately chose Bolsover Cruise Club because we expected the knowledge, guidance and customer service of a specialist cruise company. Instead, we felt we had to identify problems ourselves and repeatedly raise concerns to get answers.

My parents had recommended Bolsover Cruise Club so highly, and I genuinely wish our experience had lived up to their expectations. Sadly, our experience from start to finish was extremely disappointing, and we would think very carefully before booking with Bolsover Cruise Club again.

Bolsover Cruise Club is my go to travel agent. They are a very professional company, go the extra mile, always provide assurance and are always available to contact by phone which is a bonus especially when you are of a certain age. Every member of staff i have dealt with has been most polite and do their utmost to get you the best deal. Long may they be in business.
