Direct flights and clean and comfortable
We had a very positive experience flying Azores Airlines. The aircraft were clean, comfortable, and the convenience of direct flights to the Azores made traveling so much easier.
The only thing I'd encourage travelers to keep in mind is that weather in the Azores can change quickly and frequently impacts flight schedules. Flexibility is part of island travel. While we did experience some delays, we'd happily fly Azores Airlines again and appreciate the important connection they provide to these beautiful islands.

If You Enjoy Hiking and Stunning Scenery, an Azores Vacation is for You
Rodrigo, our travel planner, was outstanding for our Azores vacation! He was attentive and accommodating to our needs, ensuring that the vacation was memorable. The Azores islands of Sao Miguel and Flores were magical and stunning! My wife and I enjoy hiking and scenery. These islands provided a plethora of both. Flores island also had an outstanding restaurant called Restaurante Casa do Rei (Santa Cruz das Flores). The meals and staff (especially the fish salad, tomato pineapple soup and filet mignon) were outstanding. Teceira island was beautiful, but too commercialized for us. Although it had good hikes and restaurants, it was the only island with a McDonalds, Burger King and KFC. If we had known it was such a commercialized island, we would have skipped it. On the flip side, Teceira island had the most cultural activities, restaurants and an extinct volcanoe with an short, easy hike into it, so for a more cultural experience this island would be excellent. Helpful hint: at Sao Miguel island the rental car company used by Azores Vacations is 1/2 a kilometer from the airport in parking lot P6, so be prepared to walk! It's a good rental car company, just a little far from the terminal building. Also, on Teceira island, the only contact you'll have to receive the keys for the apartment is over the phone and the owners don't always answer. So call a day ahead or else you'll be waiting in the parking lot for an hour before you get your keys.
