Very irresponsible company and very…

Very irresponsible company and very poor customer service. I received confirmation email from them to pick the car up on Sunday, however when I arrived there the store was closed and when I called them they did nothing for me and they suggested me to pick the car from airport while airport was very far from me and when I tried to rent the car on next day they gave me higher price.They even didn't say that they will give me credit for the day I lost because of their poor service.

Absolutely Awful - Avoid!

I rented a car from Toronto airport for 10 days in August 2019, a car collided into the back of me on the last day, it was a "no fault" claim on my part, this has been confirmed. I tried to get advice from Avis via 3 close Avis locations as a tow truck arrived rapidly offering to tow me, advising Avis/budget use their services - I of course wanted to ensure I would be reimbursed before agreeing - Avis provided no help/advice on what I should do to handle the situation - I could not see anything obvious in the documentation! I hence used this guy and Avis refused to pay him and advised i should have purchased "Roadside assistance" which was never offered and I nor anyone I know have heard of this cover before! So I paid on my credit card to minimise risk/costs as the guy was going to take the car to their compound otherwise.
Since getting home Avis refuse to help me recover this cost of over $1000 tell me its my problem to recover directly, however it does not seem possible to do this as it needs to be the Avis insurance company claiming on my behalf (at no cost to Avis) I have been advised by the 3rd party insurance company that they will pay the bill if Avis claim it for me!
Shocking service, they are just not interested in providing customer service even at minimal effort on their part!

On 03/21 I rented a truck from AVIS and paid 235.35 to use on 04/17 and return on 04/24. I fill the truck up at COSTCO and returned it back to Oakland airport CA full. When I park truck at AVIS return about 03:45 on 04/24 I took a picture of the gas tank showing it was full. AVIS to my surprise tried to charge me $57.56 saying they had to put gas in truck which was and out right lie. Great people of USA this is nothing more then CORPORATE STEALING from the great CITIZENS of the USA of which I am proud to from. I called my CITI COSTCO company and complain. They open up a case, I sent them the picture of the gas tank and told them the date I paid for gas which they can see on my billing statement and they reverse AVIS attempt to steal my money immediately. Now on the picture of the gas tank it showed the date and time picture was taken , about 2hr and 40 min before my flight so they knew gas tank was indeed full. To AVIS CORPORATE bosses who is passing along this obvious attempt to STEAL from me and the rest of the great AMERICANS to there personal who work for them. SHAME ON YOU

Beware of the weasel clause small print and online prepay.
Was in a hurry and booked online, did not notice any rules or anything. Rented for a week, but after 2 days my plans changed so wanted to take back. Called customer service and they looked up my reservation and said just take to the same place i picked up at. 5th ave. Calgary. And likely be charged $15 early drop off fee? I thought okay, so took off couple hours of work to beat rush hour downtown.
When I went there they told me rudely that I would have to keep it for 5 days more and no refunds? He didn't care what customer service told me and refused to even call them? He told me in the fine print weasel clauses it said no refunds on prepay? I never heard of this, if I had of know I would have rented otherwise. No where on the site does it warn you....except at weasel clauses at end of lengthy signup?
Buyer beware. Salt in the wound for customer service to tell me they would only charge $15 for early drop off, so I drove from Deep South to downtown 5th ave and lost a couple hours of work time as well. You would think they would encourage prepay, not discourage with penalty and no refunds? Crazy business practice and terrible not to warn you up front. Thanks Avis! Awesome customer service. Never again.

They live up to their reputation

Hired a car for Canada, pick up at Toronto airport. Conned into buying $100+ of collision damage waiver, which had already been included in my package.
No response whatever to repeated emails asking for redress.

Très bonne expérience

J'ai loué une voiture à l'agence "Papineau" de Montréal, en passant par le site CARIGAMI, et tout s'est bien passé. Accueil aimable, prise en charge rapide, bonne voiture, propre, fiable et confortable. Aucun problème à signaler, ni administratif, ni technique. Une transaction idéale.

Rented a car from Avis/Budget in June…

Rented a car from Avis/Budget in June and returned the car with a full tank and zero damage.
2 weeks later I received a letter from Avis informing me I was being prosecuted by the police and they were going to debit £30.00 from my credit card.
This was despite the said offence taking place in Sussex and I never left the county of Suffolk. I returned the car and my invoice stated I had travelled a total of 58 miles (a round trip to Sussex from Suffolk would be 250+ miles)
The customer service team were extremely rude one saying that my invoice was not proof of my mileage??? and the second person putting the phone down on me.
After numerous time and energy and phone calls and emails we finally got Sussex police to tell us that it was a mistaken number plate and there was never any intention to prosecute me and Avis should never have taken this money in the first place.
In my view Avis took this money illegally and if we had not fought this so hard and got Sussex police involved the issue would have remained unsolved.
If they take £30.00 from every customer they would get very rich.
I will never trust Avis again and would certainly not rent from them again
